***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME! I consider myself a 4.5, but could probably be a 6-7 with a decent sewing machine!!
Lindsay V says
SEW ME!
My self rating is a 6. Most recently made Anastasia & Drizella (Cinderella’s step sisters) costumes and my 3 daughters Christmas dresses. Would love a new sewing machine with more nifty features!
Kearney says
Sew me because i’m less than a 3, a solid 2 but only if the needle is threaded and the bobbin is wound properly.
Leslie Ann says
SEW ME!
Rebecca says
SEW ME!!! I’m a proud 2. My experience in 8th grade home-ec gave me the skills to sew a straight-edged pillow slipcover, and a very wonky couch slipcover.
lynda nguyen says
Sew me! I’m a 1, but have been wanting to learn how to sew, so I can do some DIY projects.
Susan says
SEW ME! Probably a 5 – the older I get, the more impatient I get (wait, isn’t that backward??)with just “getting it done already”, so the easier the machine can make this process, the more likely I am to use it!
Sarah says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m a 3 as well. Good enough to cobble something together (that a more experienced seamstress would giggle at).
Nadia says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2. Can thread a needle and that’s about it.
Kathy says
Sew me! I love to crochet, but using a machine is daunting. If I had one to practice on, I’d feel much more at ease!
Ashli says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a 2 on the sewing scale. I don’t own a sewing machine, so it’s kinda difficult to practice, but when using someone elses, I find I’m a bit of a lead foot on the “accelerator” :p
Roxanne says
Sew me! I’ve always wanted to learn how to quilt but I’m a total sewing beginner.
Cassidy says
SEW ME! I’m about a 4 — I believe in faking it until you make it with my wonky bags.
Elizabeth says
SEW ME!
I think I am a 3. I can make curtains and pillows. Anything with a right angle. But I can’t hem pants or make any clothing.
Lady J says
I would say a three. I know the basics, but still have trouble reading patterns.
Nikki says
SEW ME!
I would say I am a 6. I am fantastic with sewing anything with a straight line. Have not mastered the curves… Except for on crib sheets!
Anne S. says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 2 … I have some skills, but would love the chance to work on improving!
Jennie Andersen says
SEW ME!
I’m probably at a 3 or 4. I’ve seen some doll beds recently and didn’t lose any fingers doing so. Ha!
Jenna says
SEW ME!
Definitely a 2- maybe half a bag?- but I’d love to learn how to get that number up!
Margaret W. says
SEW ME! I’d say I am an 8 or 9, but that the machine I own, is about a 2, so I could definitely use a new machine. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Lauren says
SEW ME !!!
I would say I am a 5, I could sew you some clothes but I couldn’t guarantee that they would fit….or look anything like the picture :)
Ellen says
SEW ME!
I’m around a 2, 3 on a good day, but I still can’t manage to sew in a straight line!
Holly says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 3.
Aimee M says
SEW ME!
I’d probably rank myself at somewhere around a 6 maybe? I’m self-taught, and probably do things incorrectly, but I’ve sewn elaborate Halloween costumes, hemmed all manner of curtains and garments, and more recently, made polar fleece appliqueed-monogram Christmas stockings for my husband’s family! But I still make silly mistakes all the time, so…6. Hahaha!
Lisbeth says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a 4.5! My mom made my sister and I go to sewing camp a few summers in a row, and I had to accompany one of my students to home economics one year. I’m a bit rusty, but if I could re-perfect my skills of making an all pink jumper dress with my initial embroidered on the front, it would be swell (Shout out awesomely cool 9-year-old me!)
Tracy W says
SEW ME!
I would rank myself a 2 but would love to be an 8!
Amanda says
SEW ME!
I’ve enjoyed sewing for years as a way to create something beautiful and clear my brain at the same time, but I’m not sure I’d rate myself any higher than a 6 because it’s all self-taught.
Emily says
SEW ME! I’d have to rate myself a 5. I haven’t attempted any truly complicated projects, but I have faith that I could crank one out if necessary.
Tracy says
SEW ME!!
I am a 4, I used to be a 5 but I’ve backtracked over time :( Thats why I need a sewing machine to practice!
Anne says
Sew Me!
I am a 1 on the scale, but my mom was a fabulous seamstress, and this would give me the opportunity to have her start teaching me.
TheSpringRose says
SEW ME
My sewing skills are negative 10…but I really want to try a bit more. I am a pro with the no sew tape though!
Leah Evanson says
SEW ME!
I am around a 2. I have made several wonky bags in my day. :)
Julie C. says
Sew me! I am a 2 only for the fact that I performed emergency surgery on my 2 year old daughter’s favorite stuffed elephant which she calls Eye since she can’t pronounce elephant. My parent’s dog tore one of its eyes off so I sewed the eye shut and sewed on a pirate’s eye patch. Now her “Eye” has an eye patch. Ha ha!
Amanda says
SEW ME! I love to sew, although I’m not that good at it. I taught my husband recently and he is amazing. I now have him making pillow covers for the whole house!
Erin T says
SEW ME!!
I’m a 1, maybe a 1 or 2. I can get by with a lot of iron-hem tape, sew a button and small holes in socks. But I am terrified of using a sewing machine – or at least the 15 year old one my mother has. I really want to conquer this and learn to make things.
Nari says
SEW ME!
2, wish I was better at it :)
Louise says
SEW ME! I’m a 2, but have the enthusiasm of a 7 – it’s making for awkward gifts :)
Heather says
SEW ME! :)
I think I’m around a 5ish…I taught myself when my 4 year old was born and love it! (ps..great giveaway!!) :)
Kelly says
Sew me! I’d rate myself a 2 to 3, but with a machine like this, I’d be a 5 in no time!
lemur_lass says
SEW ME! I am a 4, I can make bags that aren’t wonky. Everything else is wonky, but bags, I got down.
Hannah says
SEW ME!
I can only sew one thing- recycled sweater mittens! That being said, I’d rate myself a 8 for the mittens, and a 2 for anything else! =)
Catherine MacPhail says
I’m about a 7 I guess. Been sewing since I was a little girl and make a ton of things . . . a bit challenged in the measuring and cutting department. I make a lot of mistakes!! Currently using a machine that my parents gave me for my 21st (almost 20 years ago) which is on its way out. Would love a new machine!!!
Vina Sanchez says
SEW ME would like this for Christmas!!
hehehhehe
Jodi says
Sew Me – um, maybe a 2. I did take home ec in 8th grade; that counts for something, right?
Jessie D says
Sew Me!! I’m definitely a 1, but man would I love to get better and this machine sounds like I could fake it ’til I make it!
Linds says
SEW ME! A few months ago I was a 1, now that I’ve sewed 4 pillow covers (which ended up quite wonky) I’ll say I’m a 3!
Emily says
Sew me! I’m most definitely a 1 but I can see myself one day being a 3 :)
Heather V. says
Sew me! I’m probably a 4 … I can do curtains and just sewed dolls for my daughters … but nothing original, and lots of errors!
Katie says
Sew me!! I’m a total novice. Well, I guess not totally, but I don’t remember anything I learned about sewing in middle school Home Ec!
Lindsay Redd says
Sew Me!!!!
I am a 2… But I make up for it with my willingness to try! Haha last week I sewed a teepee…. Fishpond… Felt fish… And a felt campfire! All on my moms machine! One of my own would be a dream!
