***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

I am 1 planning to enroll in short course of basic sewing!
Dana says
Sew Me!!
I am about a 3. I used to sew a bit when I was younger, but slowly stopped as I lost access to a sewing machine and have been wanting to start up again.
Lucia says
SEW ME!
I would say I am a 4 or 5. I used to make my daughter’s Sunday dresses when she was little. Now, I just patch things us and do little craft projects. BUT, a new machine might get me started again……
Becki says
SEW ME!
I am most defiantly a 1. Maybe even a 0. But in my mind, I am a 10. I have dreams on learning to sew!
Aly Chilcott says
Sew me a 1!
Loren says
sew me! I am a 1–my sewing machine is so broken down but I have never had a chance to use it.
Jacki says
SEW ME!! I am a 0!!!!!
Kristin says
SEW ME!
I’m a 5 and wish I had more time to get a higher score!
Kristie says
SEW ME! I’d say about 2-3 and looking to get better.
Sarah says
Sew me! There’s a reason my Pinterest board doesn’t have any sewing projects – definitely a 1 on the skill scale. Home ec was the only class in school that I almost failed. I cheated and made my mom sew my final project. However, maybe this machine would be my saving grace :)
Elaine says
SEW ME!!
I’m about an 8.5 out of 10, meaning I can sew just about anything BUT I’m in desperate need of a new machine :)
Jenn says
SEW ME! I am a sold 2 with aspirations to be a 7 or 8
Rachel says
SEW ME! I’m about a 5 . . . a really slow, ripping stitches out a lot 5.
Gabriela Viveiros says
SEW ME!
I think I’d be a 5! I can make patterns and sew many things, but I am far from being an expert! I need this machine so that I can practise!!
Thanks!
Good Luck for me!
Kathryn LaBruyere says
SEW ME! I am probably a 7. And I really need a sewinng machine!
Michelle says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 2. I’ve used a sewing machine maybe 5 times. Could make a pillow that’s about it. Sewing classes are needed!
Meagan says
SEW ME!
My sewing skills are laughable despite my best efforts. I’d give myself a 2 on a good day.
Jess says
Sew Me!
I will give myself a 2. I can do things, just not well. I once made a skirt and allowed so much seam it didn’t fit–but it was a skirt at least!
Wendy says
SEW ME!
I think I’m a 9.99. I’ve sewed all my life. I’ve made clothing, curtains, quilts and many crafty things.
Caitlin E says
SEW ME!
I’m a pretty horrible seamstress but I have to give myself at least a 3 for sewing tons of pointe shoes back in my dancing days!!
Stephanie Baine says
Sew me!
I’d like to call myself a 5 but I’m probably about a 2. (Using the same skills I learned in 7th grade) I did just sew a stocking though!!! Very proud. Not to mention my machine is from the 70s and I’m only 22. Okay this was longer than intended.
Elizabeth says
SEW ME!
Definitely a 1. My mother is a 10+! I’ve “helped” with a couple of projects, but most I-should-sew-this projects end up with a hot glue gun involved!
Kelsey Christie says
SEW ME!!!
I am definitely a 1… Or a 0! I once made a pair of pajamas pants in high school, they weren’t pretty!
April Bible says
Sew me!
If Sherry is a three with her mad bean bag sewing skills, then I am probably a two. I can hem curtains, that should count for something, right?
Heather says
SEW ME!!
I’d consider myself a 4 or 5. I know how to go about doing most sewing things, but application is a little more difficult. Not having a machine available to me for a good chunk of the last 10 years hasn’t helped me not be rusty with the skills, but I’d catch up to my former 6-7 status pretty quickly and be making my own clothes again in no time.
Alicia says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a 2 or 3. I’ve sewn some stuff and it’s come out alright but I need to improve!
Sayward says
SEW ME!
My learning curve was almost identical to Sherry’s, especially if Sherry bled twice. Now I’d call myself a confident novice, but I can’t use a bunch of the features on my machine like blind stitch and button holes. Once in awhile the needle snaps in half and flies at my face, but at least I’m not bleeding on my projects anymore.
Krissy says
SEW ME
I’m definitely a two. I look for creative ways to use fabric that do not require sewing. Sewing is so intimidating! This machine looks foolproof though!
Jessica says
SEW ME!
I am probably a 3, but my mom is a whiz, I’d give her a 9. My machine has been sitting in the garage broken, but a shiny new one just might be the inspiration I need to get back at it!
Cindy says
SEW ME!! A 10…..can sew in my sleep!
Colette M. says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 0 or 1… but have always wanted to learn. As a mother of 3 girls, there are a lot of opportunities for fun!!!
Meredith W says
“SEW ME!” I’m maybe a 3…on a good day. I had to take a class where I learned to do a basic patch on army equipment and that sewing machine would always just suddenly take off on me leaving wobbly seams and less then perfect patches
Nicole S. says
SEW ME! Sewing is one of my great passions. I rate myself about an 8; there are still things to learn, but I’m not embarrassed to wear the things that I make.
Elisabeth Crisp says
“SEW ME!”
I’m a solid 8. Given enough time–and a seam ripper–I could sew a house. I’m not quick, but I’m consistent.
Sydney says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m a solid 3, but could really up my game with that baby!
Allison says
sew me! I’d say I rank about a 4-5. I haven’t sewed in years, but when I was a teenager, I actually took lessons!
Ashley says
Sew Me!
I’m probably somewhere around a 3 or 4. I can do the basics, and I think with some more practice, I could be pretty good. With a baby on the way, this would be so convenient for shortening pants, sewing curtains or blankets, making Halloween costumes, etc.
Kudzayi Ziso says
SEW ME!
I would say I am about a 5, can follow a pattern and or instructions. I am a bit rusty though and would looove this machine to get back into it!
LindseyB says
SEW ME! I’d rate myself at a 1 right now but achieving at least a 3 status is on my bucket list!
Ashley says
SEW ME! I’m a 1!!!
Jessica says
sew me! Definitely a 1, but hoping to get better!
Lynn T says
SEW ME!!
I would rate myself as a 3-ish.. I’m a beginner when it comes to sewing most things but am pretty decent with fixing holes, hemming, etc.
Karin says
SEW ME!!!!
Omigosh, I am a complete 0.5… yeah not even a 1 John! :( I have always wanted a sewing machine but have never been able to justify the purchase with absolutely no ability. I have loads of interest!
Happy Holidays to you and yours, thanks for sharing with us up north! Canada loves you!!
Lauren B says
Sew me! Can I go negative on the scale? I’d love to start though!
Julie says
Sew me!
Back in Middle School Home Ec. I was a sewing Master and I have the Snoopy Pillow to prove it!
Amy says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1.5, meaning I can make an almost straight line until my old machine jams. Tension schmension.
Ginger says
SEW ME! I’m a 6 or 7. I was in “Fashion Club” in high school and made a dress and top with lots of guidance. I was able to walk myself through a dress tutorial recently and it was so exciting!
Jackie says
SEW ME!
I am a 4. I would be better if my sewing machine didn’t cause me so many problems.
Jess Ortman says
Sew Me! I would say I am a 2. I took a sewing class in high school, unfortunately I don’t remember everything that was taught. Lol
Melissa says
SEW ME!
I think I’m about a 3. I can sew a button on occasion but not much more…
