***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Sew me! My wife would like to start sewing, she never has but always talks about it!

SEW ME!!! I’m a solid 2. I can sew anything I set my mind too, as long as i don’t have to follow a pattern! oh, and i tape all my thread to the machine when I’m done…or I’m lost when its time to go again. Yes, this means everything I sew gets done in the same color!

SEW ME! I am not the best at it, although it does cause me to use quite colorful expression, uh, cursing. :D Maybe what I need a quality, modern machine.
Brenda says

I’m a three but hoping to improve.

SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 1 or 2, I can sew a straight line, that’s about it. Hopefully, I’ll get better with practice. I’m borrowing my mom’s machine right now with the ambition to make curtains.

Omigosh, I am a complete 0.5… yeah not even a 1 John! :( I have always wanted a sewing machine but have never been able to justify the purchase with absolutely no ability. I have loads of interest!

A 3 sounds about accurate for me! It’s a thrill to sew things with my own two hands but I don’t always have the patience to do it the proper and meticulous way that I was taught to by my grandmother and mom (much to my mothers chagrin). I use an ancient singer which is lovely but it sews straight line stitches only. I could use some of those bells and whistles this one has!
Chelsea says
Sew me! I’m about a 5. I’ve made a lot of curtains but am not so great at hemming pants….
Andrea says
Sew me!
I’m a 1.5-2. I know the basics of how to use a machine, read patterns, etc but haven’t actually done so since junior high. I’m sure I’d end up with a wonky bag!
Courtney + Mateo says
SEW ME!!!!
A sewing machine is the only thing I asked for this Christmas! I would rate myself 5, but I hope to be sewing like a champ in no time.
Kristie M says
SEW ME! I am probably a 10 sewer but have been using my first sewing machine that I got as a child for the past 25 years! It would be amazing to have a new machine!!

I am probably a 7. But a procrastinator so I get rusty between projects. I bet a new sewing machine would help this problem.
Kamra says
SEW ME! I’m definitely a1. I’d love to move up that scale, but haven’t wanted to spend money on a machine in case I actually would move down the scale into the negatives;)
Hannah K says

SEW ME! The last sewing machine I used was a toy I got as a child that used glue. I’d love to have an easy to use sewing machine to learn how to sew.
Lydia says
SEW ME!
I’m in the 3 range. I know how to work the machine, but sewing in straight lines occasionally eludes me.
liz brobst says
OMG SEW ME!!! I’m about a 5-6 on your adorable scale, i’d say. Started sewing this fall and have really been enjoying myself!! For my machine on the cheap though, so it gets a little tire sometimes. This would seems SEW GREAT!!

Kristin T says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 3, like Sherry, but would love to improve my skills nearer to my mom’s. She’s about a 10! She keeps reminding me how she made a bunch of her own maternity clothes, and my baby clothes, and my prom dress. #overachiever :)
Megan says
SEW ME..
I haven’t sewed in such a long time that I’m now probably a 3 like Sherry. I use to be ablout a 5 until I made a pair of shorts and I sewed everything the wrong way around. The length of the shorts became the top and the section from the waist to the crotch became the legs. ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT THEY WERE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DIFFICULT TO PUT ON. My mother unpicked them and then she fixed them. HOW SAD……
Tania says
SEW ME. I’m a 2 but but would love to learn. found some super cute fabric to do some simple projects in my daughter’s room!

Sew me!
My mom gave me her 30+ year old machine that I’ve been using the last 5 years and it finally gave out. I need a new one! I’d rate myself a 5. I can get around.
Meg G. says
Sew me! I would say I’m maybe a strong 5 or 6 but have a long way to go to before I’m anywhere close to a 10! My b-day’s on the 12th so this would be the BEST gift!
Julie says
Sew me!
I would say about a 3. I am self-taught but would like to get better!
