***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
I’d rate myself maybe a 1.5. I made a few pillows when I was in college, but haven’t done anything since then. And I still have bad memories from middle school home ec, when I made the world’s worst windsock.
Ann H. says
I’m an 8 or better. Would be lost without sewing but could sure use a new machine…currently using one that is about 50 years old! And it’s a Singer…
carrie says
SEW ME! I’m about a 3. I can sew pillows and curtains (straight lines).
renee says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1, a beginner, but willing to learn :)
Kelsey says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2, at best. My grandmother taught me how to sew when I was 8. I haven’t sewn anything since. It’s been 20 years, and I’d like to try again.
Krista says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m about a 4 or 5 thanks to my younger years of being in 4-H clothing and fashion revue! I haven’t sewn anything for quite a few years, but would love to get back into it if I had my own sewing machine!
SB says
SEW ME! I am a beginner. A solid 1. But so looking forward to learning during the Christmas break.
Paulette says
SEW ME!
I’m a beginner and haven’t touched a sewing machine since middle school home ec class in the 80’s.
Jill says
SEW ME!
I would probably rank myself a 5. I handmade all the curtains in our house, and all of the decorative pillows too. I love to sew, but don’t get much time now with a 3 month old! I was going to make her a Christmas dress, but that got put on hold due to both my lack of free time and my fear that I would not be able to complete the project. I did make a dress one time, but with instruction.
Elizabeth McKinney says
SEW ME!!! I am definitely on par with Sherry and her sewing skills. If given enough time and motivation, I can sew something simple. But my husband and I just bought our first! house! And I would love this machine to make curtains, pillows and all kids of stuff for it!
Rebecca S says
SEW ME! I am probably about a 5 on that scale. I can sew basic items but I actually haven’t done so in awhile because my machine is broken. I would so love to win this giveaway!
Tina says
SEW ME! I am a 1 but I really want to learn!!
Kelly says
SEW ME!
I’d put myself at a solid 3.5 on the sewing spectrum. I can comfortable make wonky curtains and wonky pillows, but my sheer lack of patience has prevented me from making anything more complicated with any success. This machine could probably bump me up into the 5 range, however…here’s hoping!
Amanda says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a 1 on the scale. Hopefully this machine is fancy enough to sew without any help from me!
Maggie says
SAW ME!
I’m probably a 4, not super experienced but my mom taught me when I was really young on her sewing machine and the things I’ve sewn throughout my childhood were pretty decent. I’ve never done anything super complicated but I’ve been itching to get a sewing machine and try more stuff!
Laura Coykendall says
I am a 3-ish. However, my MIL is AWESOME and I would give this prize to her if I win. :-)
Madison says
Sew Me!
I am probably a 3.5 who thinks she’s an 8. I tend to get really excited about making stuff and forget to take my time whoops :)
Meredith B says
SEW ME! I am totally a 1. My lovely grandmother can sew like crazy and is a quite making machine, and she showed me a thing or two growing up. I would love to learn more and have a machine of my own!!!
Lindsay says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 0!
Emily M. says
Sew Me!! I am prob. a 1-2…but really want to take classes so I can make some drapes and pillows :)
Meghan P says
SEW ME at a level 2 – have some experience but always need help getting the thread on the sewing machine!
laura says
SEW ME! I’m a 2…I used to sew as a kid, but would love to get back into it now!!
Louis Cameron says
SEW ME!
Probably a 1! I can hand sew a button onto Kelly’s jackets when they fall off, but that’s it. I would love to win this though!! It would really help us out in the new house!
Shannon says
Sew me!!! 5 not too shabby but could improve!
Scully says
“SEW ME!”
I’m probably a 5. (My mother is a tailor after all…)
Jessica says
SEW ME! I would say I’m a 2, but have a bunch of projects planned so hopefully I’ll get better with practice!
Erika says
SEW ME! I’m a 2…I can sew some things by hand, but have been wanting to embrace the machine, which I don’t own yet, for some time!
Kay says
SEW ME!
I guess I’m a 1 or 2. I can sew straight lines. :) The hardest thing I’ve done was a hidden zipper in a dog bed I made.
Kippen says
SEW ME! I dont even know if I would know how to turn it on…but definitely want to learn how to sew :)
Cathy says
Sew me! I am like a 5… I can make quilts, burp cloths, pillows, curtains. I would love a new fancier machine!!
Geri says
Sew me! I’m like a negative 5, as in I can’t put a button back on, but it’s on my three-year goal list to purchase and master a sewing machine. I was quite good in Home Ec. back in 6th grade, so I think the gift is just hidden right now.
Rebecca says
SEW ME! I am a 1.5. I can “sew” – airquotes necessary.
Amanda says
SEW ME! I’d give myself a 2 — I’ve hand-sewn a few craft projects and I manage to fix the hems in my pants, but have never used a sewing machine.
Madeleine says
Sew me! I’m around a 3 too — enough skills that I can make things, but if you actually look at the stitching, eek! I’ve just never mastered the tension thing, I think…
Maggie says
SEW ME!
Argh Typo in previous post.
Stephanie says
SEW ME! I am about a 1, would love to improve!
Michael says
Sew me! I’m a 0, my wife, she’s a 10, but she’ll say she’s not nearly that high up there!
Marcie says
SEW ME PLEASE! I think I’m a 5. I can sew curtains, halloween costumes, carseat covers. Most times I sew without a pattern; just a vague idea in my head of what I want. I think you need to be a 10 if you can follow pattern instructions! My next project is to make seat cushions and dining chair covers.
kathryn says
SEW ME! Definitely a 2 or 3, with aspirations of one day being a 5 or 6!
Melissa says
SEW ME!
I am a -1 lol. never touched one ever but DYING to learn! :)
adrienne says
SEW ME! i’m a 3, but i love wonky things. with this i hope to be more like a 6. turns out friends/parents don’t have the same love for wonky as i do
Holly West says
SEW ME!
I have a little sewing experience, but I’d like to have more.
Jessica Klein says
Sew me!
I’m about a 2 – can just barely sew a straight line!
Meghann says
SEW ME! I’d guess I’m a 3…I’ve made very few things but am hoping to be able to pull of a few rectangles in the next few months – really want to make some of the decorative pieces for my baby-to-be’s nursery!
karla says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 6 or a 7… but I think I could be an 8 with an automatic needle threader!
Vicki Ayris says
SEW ME!
I’m a 0 on the sewing continuum but I sew hope (!) I’ll win this giveaway and all that will change!
Kim says
Sew Me! I am a 1, but I would love to take some sewing lessons. Just can’t seem to find anyone who offers classes.
Sarah says
SEW ME!
5-6? I sew pretty well for someone with no real training (no wonky bags here)…BUT in my mind I sew better than I do in reality and that makes me think I can make, fix, edit just about anything I see in a store. Too bad I don’t have enough time to ever get to them.
Kristin says
SEW ME!! I just started sewing and my projects have included some finger puppets for my little one as well as some envelope pillow covers. I’m getting ready to tackle some place mats next! While I love my “starter” sewing machine, I would love to have this beauty to take me from a 2 to at least a 7. :o)
Grace says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 4 or a 5– I can do stuff like easy pleats, but it takes a lot of concentration. And if the machine breaks (as it does frequently, since I’m using my grandmother’s) then I’m out of luck!
