***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Sew Me!
Umm…does this scale have a 0? The last (and only thing) I sewed was a wonky set of juggling cubes in 7th grade Home Ec.
Jill says
Sew me!!
Isabel Koch says
SEW ME! I’m a 3. I think I could make said imperfectly perfect bag, presuming I’ve threaded the machine appropriately.
Jen says
Sew me! I would’ve had said a 1…but I somehow stumbled my way through a pillowcase with zipper for a dog bed. I guess that puts me at a dubious 2.5?
linda nguyen says
SEW ME! I’m a 6! I can sew, and sew fast. But anything without a pattern is beyond me.
Michele says
SEW ME!! I’m probably a 6. I once sewed an entire bedding set along with curtains, but I am totally out of practice.
Megan says
SEW ME! I’ll give myself a 1, mostly because I’m capable of sewing a button on, but not too much beyond that, especially when it comes to using a machine!
Ana says
SEW ME!!! By hand – a 5. With a machine, it a very strong 1. :) Would be so exciting for a machine to finally do the work!! Thanks for a great giveaway. One can hope. :)
Joanna says
SEW ME!!!
I would say I’m around a 3 as well….I can get a few things done but I’m learning more and more each time I try. Now if I just had a proper sewing machine to use.. ;) ..haha
Wynda says
Sew Me!
I’d probably rank a 2…
Jane says
SEW ME!

kristin says
sew me!
no skills right now, but I would love to learn!

SEW ME!
I would rate myself a 2. The first things I ever sewed were some stockings last year with the help of my mom. I was pregnant at the time, and this year I can’t wait to fill Annie’s up with baby goodies!
Rita says
Sew me! I am planning to ask for a sewing machine for Christmas,, so maybe you can make my wish come true!

SEW ME! I probably rank around a 3, as well.

SEW ME! I’m about a 3. I broke the last sewing machine I tried to thread, so I could use a machine like this one..l

SEW ME!!!
Only a 1.

SEW ME
I couldn’t sew my way out of a paper bag or sew my way out of the paper bag for that matter :)
Carly says
SEW ME! Ummm, I could probably figure something out by reading directions first…I’m more of a by-hand kinda gal at the moment. Which is, you know, so speedy. :)

SEW ME!

Seriously … I don’t know what is up with the “yellow” avatar. My husband did a drawing of me based on our wedding picture forever ago and I guess I don’t remember associating it with my online ID. :P
Carla says
SEW ME
….I’m like a 1-2 on the scale, I made a pair of pajama pants once in home ec in eighth grade so, there’s that.
Katie Mc says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 3-ish… I took sewing in high school and made a few things, but I’d likely need a refresher course!
Melissa says
SEW ME! Haven’t used a sewing machine in a long time, but a shirt I made in high school won an award. I’d guess I’d be a 4.
Aman says
Sew me!!!
Rachele says
SEW ME!
I’d rate myself a 3 or 4 at sewing. I’ve completed a few things, but I’m certainly not going to win any contests with anything I’ve made. ha!
Katy says
SEW ME!
My mom taught me when I was a kid. I was even making clothes for myself in middle school. However, that was a long time ago, and I don’t have a sewing machine, so I’m out of practice. Therefore, I’d say I’m probably a 4!
Janelle says
SEW ME! I’m a 1, but since my mom was a seamstress when I was growing up it is now on my bucket list to learn. (Why didn’t she teach me? )
Stephanie says
Sew Me!
Probably a 2. Enough to do some damage.
Niamh says
SEW ME!
Maybe a 4? Which didn’t stop me making my own wedding dress :)h
misa says
sew me! i’m a relatively competent seamstress, but no where near my mother, who used to sew us very gorgeous, complicated hand-stitched quilts.
Marlys says
SEW ME! I would say I’m about a 1 right now since I’m so out of practice, so winning this sewing machine would be perfect!
Kelly says
SEW ME!
I’d say a 2 or 3… I can sew, just don’t look too closely!
Diane says
SEW ME.
I’m a 1-1/2 – I know what the machine does and I’ve held the light when my husband used one. The automatic needle threader gives me hope.
Nick Bat. says
SEW ME!!
I am totally a 1 on the sewing machine…but I want one to be a designer for drag queens!
Kai says
SEW ME!
I’ve never successfully used a machine in my life, but I am pretty handy with just a needle and thread – so what is that – a 1 1/2?
Gwen says
Sew me!
Maybe a 3, on a good day.
Lisa says
SEW ME!!!
I am about a 3 I would say. Straight lines are not my strong suit :)

SEW ME! A level 2, if everything is set up for me, I am able to push the foot pedal and keep it moving :)
