***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME , ME and ME! Lol! Hi Sherry, John, Clara and Burger! Happy Holidays! :) Re: SEWING – I’m a 2, I had sewn a sleeveless sporty shirt for my toddler by hand (first attempt to sew, i know, quite ambitious, right – but I was leaning on a pattern!) and even he complained upon trying it! he said, what is this mommy? i don’t like it! argh. hahaha.

SEW ME!!!!
I like to think that my sewing skills are somewhere in the 6 to 7 range. I have sewn dresses, stockings for christmas and a number of small things, but I’m not sure I have the patience for a big project. :)
Sarah K says
Sew me!!! Sadly a 1. Really want to learn though!!!
Allison says
I want a sewing machine for Christmas so SEW ME! I am a 1 on the sewing scale. Haven’t used one since 8th grade and that was decades ago.

Sew me! I think I would rank myself a 3 but would love to get better!
Dixie says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a 4.5, but I could probably be better if I had a machine that was young enough that it could still do more than straight stitches in only one length and tension.
Jane says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2– I can see buttons on my husband’s shirts and I rock at using stitch witchery for the no sew curtains. That’s where my “talents” stop lol. Would love this sewing machine!!
Rachelle says
A 9. But I don’t sew blindfolded or have ever had my own machine
Jenn says
SEW ME! I JUST took a 4 week sewing class with a group of friends and honestly, threading the damn bobbin and setting the machine is the most challenging part. I’m a 1.8, but desperate to improve! A machine like this is not a practical purchase for my family right now…Here’s hoping!
Sarah De Felice says
Sew me! I’ve made pillows which have held up for several years but other than that, I’m a 1!!
Shelley says
SEW ME!
I am a 2.5-3.

Krystal Hurst says
SEW ME! I am probably a 3 or 4 on the scale! I just need a good sewing machine!
Christy Davis says
SEW ME! I am somewhere in the middle and a little nervous to win this giveaway since I do all my sewing on a 1904 Singer (peddle and all) and an early 70s version. I got the 70s version because I wanted to zigzag and my mom taught me to sew on the same machine. She wasn’t ready to give hers up but . . . I am ready to try a new one if I get picked!
tesni says
SEW ME! i’m an 8 or 9! i am a sewing teacher! would love to have a new machine!!!

Dina says
SEW ME!!
I’d put myself around a 7… I’m a fashion grad from FIT, so can make everything from the basics to evening wear, and I’ve been re-upholstering for years. …but I’m also re-doing one in every 3 zippers because I always set them in wrong…
I’d love a new machine! I’m still using the clunker I bought back in the late 90s and could really use an upgrade!
Meghan M says
sew me!!!!! I would consider myself a 3 1/2.
Laurie M says
Sew me!!!
I’d rank myself somewhere around a 7 or 8…but I dream of being a 10 some day! And I wouldn’t mind a brand new machine to help me get there!

Pam the Goatherd says
SEW ME!
I’m a 10! My mother taught herself to sew on a basic Singer sewing machine when I was 11. Then she taught me to sew and set me loose sewing all my own clothes (except for prom dresses, which she would make for me)by the time I was 13. I have many fond memories of hours spent poring over patterns and going to the fabric wharehouses in Little Havana (Miami, FL) during the summer to pick out really nice fabric to make my clothes for the next school year. She taught me to sew so well that no one knew I made my own clothes. And I loved that I had “designer” clothes that I designed myself.
When I was in my 20s my best friend and I went to a one-day seminar on making your own patterns. The two of us were unstoppable after that class! We could go to the mall, try on clothes we liked, then go home and copy it. When my kids were little I made all of their clothes – including a 3-piece suit and tie for my son.
Right now I have a 20 year old Singer sewing machine that has a few fancy stitches, but my husband has been bugging me to get something newer with more choices. If I win this machine, we’ll both be happy!
Lori at WOM-MOM says
SEW ME! I used to sew a ton as a teenager…winning grand champion ribbons for my 4-H fair competitions. But I have lost touch! This is sure to help me re-inspire my sewing skills!
bridget says
SEW ME!
I would say a three I have made a couple pillow covers and burb clothes but I have a hard time doing a straight line.
Jackie says
Sew Me!
I think I’ll rate myself a 5. I can sew some basic things, but hand me a pattern and I pretty much go cross-eyed.
Jess says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2. Buuut I’d like to be much higher. There are just so many cute projects on Pinterest!
Cheryl Heppermann says
SEW ME I’m a 5

SEW ME!!!
I’m about a 9…I could definitely sew a bag, but not sure if while blindfolded:) I’ve been sewing my own clothing for at least 10 years and zippers and buttonholes no longer scare me!! Can’t figure out a blind hem stitch to save my life tho….
liz says
SEW ME

SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1. I used to be around a 3, but I’ve forgotten a lot of it :(
Amanda says
SEW ME! My sewing skills are a 1. I am reminded of this each time my mother-in-law whips up a project with no effort at all, leaving me speechless and wanting a sewing machine.
Lea says
SEW MEEEE!!!!!
I like to think I can sew, but I totally fake it…super novice here
Samantha D says
SEW ME! I’m like a 5, not good, but not bad lol. I do however need a sewing machine :)
mary w says
Sew Me!
I have no sewing skills- my mom does all my sewing for me, so she’d probably be more excited than me if I won this one.
Anne Shade says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m probably a 3. I’ve just started to do little projects but have a long way to go before being good at it.
Jana Crawford says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 6-7 on the sewing scale! I love creating something and seeing the finished project!
Jenn K. says
SEW ME! I’m a 1, for sure. I haven’s tried to sew anything since jr. high home ec. class. I can’t even sew I button on.
Sherry in BC says
SEW ME! Well I guess I would rate myself at about a 7 as I can do most things given time. My old machine is a test of my patience though and winning this one would be amazing. I did just run up a couple of curtains to replace crappy old blinds. They look a lot better and keep the rooms much warmer. I used to do much more sewing when my kids were younger and I had more patience.
Joanna says
-1! My one and only attempt- in a Jr. High sewing class- resulted in the worst looking wind sock ever! ( Sadly, I could never get past threading the machine correctly.) I’ve always wished for some skills in this area! :)
