***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Sew me!
Um…intermediate?
Danielle says
I would put myself at about an 8. Self taught, I am pretty proficient at sewing now and frequently make gifts for friens and family. Today I finished making 14 Christmas costumes for my son’s program at school!
Kathy says
SEW ME! Probably about a 3 – maybe less now that I’ve found stitch witchery :)
Lydia says
Sew me! I’m a four. I can definitely sew a square, but last year I attempted piping and man was that snazzy. Good pinning (prep work is always important) and it’s so easy.
Bertha Mason says
I am at a one, but would love to learn….espcially how to do a hem since I am petite.
Emily says
SEW ME!
I consider myself a 1…no experience at all, but I would love to learn!
Courtenay says
SEW ME!
Maybe a 4 – used to be better back in high school (I actually took sewing classes!), but haven’t touched a machine in a solid 5 years. I’d definitely improve if I had a machine to practise on though…
Valerie Smith says
SEW ME!
I am probably a weak 3 – I can sew a pillow, but can’t put a zipper in – so my pillowcovers are considered permanent!
jen says
Sew me! Maybe a two on a good day. I have not used a sewing machine since 8th grade home ec but it would be fun to relearn!
Ashlee says
Sew Me! I’m a 1, but loooong to be at least a 7 or 8 so I can make my kiddo’s halloween costumes and finish all the things I’ve pinned for when I learn to sew someday.
Jessica H. says
Sew Me!
I’m a 1 for sure but I’ve been wanting to learn for a while now!
Melissa M says
SEW ME! I’m a total novice – probably a 0, but would love to learn how to sew!
Stacie Onsager says
SEW ME!
I would probably be ranked a 1 but now that I’m pregnant and have a to-do list of making curtains and a crib skirt, having my own sewing machine would be great!
Rachel Hansen says
Sew me! I am right there with Sherry- I can see semi-straight lines well enough to make simple curtains but that’s about it!
Ivonne says
sew me….
Because I’d love to gift this to my twin sister and she really, really deserves it ! and it ships worldwide ! Woot woot !
Neither one of us can sew a straight line so far, but oh the things we could try to sew with crooked lines!
thanks for the great inspirations!
Alyssa K says
SEW ME!
I’d say I am a 3. I learned as a young adult, but am probably a bit rusty.
Kari says
Sew me! I can see small projects with direct guidance but I’m no pro!
Crystal says
SEW ME!!
Rate me as a shaky 1. My sister bought this same model in black for her daughter. Before she shipped it off I got a chance to try it and I was hooked. It’s a 2013 resolution to learn to sew so I can make curtains and pillows . . . clothes, um, no.
Tera says
Sew me! I’m with sherry, about a 3! I enjoy it, most days :)
Shan says
SEW ME!
Probably a 6…although I think we all have days that are 1s, where nothing works at all!
Cassidy says
SEW ME! I would say about a five, but I think I could do bettr with a real sewing machine. I got one that was sitting next to someone’s trash. It only does one type of stitch, and isn’t awesome, but it was free!
Holly says
SEW ME!!! I’d love this as I have to my Mom’s house to use her sewing machine (and assistance!) when I have the urge to sew :) I’d say I rank at about a 3 or 4.
Melanie says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 1…maybe I know the basics, but I would love to learn more!
Kristie says
Sew me! I am a 3 like Sherry :)
Louise Allana says
SEW ME! I’m about a 2 on the sewing scale but looking forward to increasing my skills the day I actually own a sewing machine.
Evelyn C. says
SEW ME!!
I’m a solid 8 :)
Alexa F. says
SEW ME!
My sewing skills when as a child were pretty good, but I haven’t done much as an adult. But, my fella borrowed my mom’s machine to make his Halloween costume last year (Adam West’s Batman) and rocked it.
Lynne says
SEW ME! I’d rate myself about a 2!
Cortney S says
SEW ME!
I would probably rate myself around a 5, I have been slowly learning and tackling progressively harder projects including bags, pillow cases, and even a kids bath robe (I cried a few times).
Allison says
SEW ME!
I would definitely be a 2 on sewing but I’m willing to learn :)
ani says
SEW ME!
My mom is a pro and has always used Singer… I am definitely a novice (other than sewing on a button). I’m hoping to learn and get a machine in the next year!
Kellie R. says
SEW ME! I’m likely a 2…I’ve just finished matching pajama bottoms for my boys, but pj bottoms are the easiest and I still had some coaching :)
Danielle says
Sew me! I am at a 0 but have been dying to try
Lisa P. says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2 but would love to learn more!
Joy Navarro says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 3-4. I can hand-sew really well, but there’s something about a moving, mechanical needle and the constant fear of my fingers getting caught. I think get flustered with the speed, but I do understand I control the speed with the pedal. I can definitely sew a wonky bag using a sewing machine but just like Sherry, would take me a few hours or so. lol! ;-)
Tracey says
SEW ME!!! I’m between a 1 and a 2. But it’s been so long since I’ve used a sewing machine I’m sure I have digressed.
Mary says
SEW ME!
I have no idea how to sew – so I’m a zero.zero. But, I’m a 10 on the I want to learn scale!!!
Haley says
SEW ME! I’m in the 2-3 range… but I’m thinking this beauty could bump my skills WAY up!!
Corrie says
SEW ME!! Right now, I am about a 3. But with this machine, I’m sure I could become an 8 in no time!!
Brianna says
SEW ME!
I am probably a 3ish. I can hem stuff and sew on buttons but hate getting the old bulky machine out and wrestling with it.
Kaitlin says
Sew me! I am a 1 bout would like to improve. I have sewn one pillow for our livingroom that looks pretty straight!
Andi says
Sew me!!!
I maintain that I do not know how to sew, despite creating a business based on sewing personalized blankets. Go figure…
Jenn says
SEW ME!
I would rate myself about a 3. I could probably be fairly decent if I applied myself…that would require owning a sewing machine!
Britt says
SEW me, please! I could make a wonky bag but I’m suuuuuuuure my skill level would skyrocket exponentially if it’s a sewing machine that practically runs itself! :)
KathyL says
Sew me! I’m about a 6. thanks.
Lesley says
SEW ME!! I’m a 3.14159 with potential!
Jules says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m probably a 2 when it comes to my sewing skills.
Melissa says
Sew me!!
My current sewing machine is only usable with a shim (no that’s not a typo) in it! Yes, a full size shim!!
I would say I’m a solid 5.
Connie says
SEW ME!
I own a Singer Featherweight. Ancient machine. The tension is now gone and I’d do anything for zig zag and features other than forward and backward. (I like Sherry’s hemming technique tho)
Ambra says
SEW ME!!! I’m a solid 1…there’s no doubt:-).
