***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!! I have absolutely no sewing machine experience, but want to learn badly! :)
Elicia says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m somewhere around a 3 or 4 with a sewing machine. I’d really love to get better!
Shanna says
Sew me! I am a 0 at the machine never have touched one but can sew a few stiches by hand if need be;)
Jenny says
SEW ME!
I am definitely only a 1, but would love to move higher up on the scale!
SamanthaD says
SEW ME! I am probably a 3 maybe a 4 on special days! :)
Kristen says
Sew me!
I am def like you! I am a 1 but would love to learn :)
Jennifer says
SEW ME!!! I am probably also a 3 and when my mother is over to help I can maybe pull off a 4.
lisa leyboldt says
SEW ME!! Oh dear, i’d say i’m a 3 also. I have some general knowledge but very little confidence!
Leslie Teardo says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1.5…
My mother used to make every single Halloween costume and show costume I had and they were always AMAZING. So (sew?) naturally, I have major anxiety (read: run away screaming) every time I attempt a thread-related project/incident/horror-film.
I’m curious and cautiously optimistic at their “easiest to use” machine. I’m convinced that a double major in Calculus and Physics is required to thread mine…
Erin L. says
SEW ME! I am definitely a 0. The one and only time I have ever tried to make anything out of fabric I ended up cutting a whole corner out of my piece somehow and have never tried again. However, I think having a sewing machine would make me want to try and learn – it is one of my life goals!

SEW ME!
I’m a 6 — thanks to Home Ec and a mom who is an accomplished seamstress.
Marcia S says
SEW ME!
I used to be an 8. Once made a Scrooge McDuck costume for my son that could have gotten him a job at Disneyland. I haven’t sewn in so long, I’m rusty. My machine doesn’t handle the feed pressure will and would be thrilled if I a machine that would just sew a seam the first time without a lot of fiddling.
Emily P says
SEW ME!!!
I’m about a 1.
Andrea says
SEW ME! It’s been ages since I’ve sewn, but I want to get explore it again (punishing myself?). I would say I am a 2/3 aspiring to be a 5/6.
Julie says
Sew Me!
I’m a newbie….maybe a 2? But with a passion to learn more, and the daughter of a 10+++++.

SEW ME!!
I’ve been sewing for a while and make soft toys. This machine would be perfect to make my sewing go easier!
Lindsey P. says
SEW ME!
I guess I’m 4ish. I’ve made a couple of dresses for my girls, but it wasn’t easy. And the sewing machine kept jamming. What a great giveaway! Thank you.

SEW ME!
I am a 2 but would love to learn more!
Jill says
Sew Me! I’m around a 3, but when it comes to a straight line, I’m a -1.
Heather says
SEW ME! I am a solid 2 with the help of internet videos that remind me how to thread the bobbin when I blow the dust off of my old machine.
Veronica says
Sew me! If I have a pattern I can sew ok but forget it if I didn’t have a pattern. It would turn out like the Cosby episode where Denise made a shirt for Theo and one arm was longer than the other.
Jessica says
SEW ME!
Probably a 3, maybe 4. But that can’t stop a girl from trying!
Megan says
Sew Me!
My grandmother is a master seamstress (she made all the roman shades, slipcovers, etc I have) and so I’m probably a 5. But I LOVE to sew and would love having a machine of my own!
Lisa K says
SEW ME! I’d give myself a 5. I’ve been sewing for years but just started learning to make quilts. Would love a new machine!
Stephanie says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 3. I could sew curtains, but not clothes.
Jen C. says
Sew me! I’m a 3 but would really like to get that up to a 10 one day!
Gina says
SEW ME!! I’m maybe a 5? I learned to sew a couple of years ago and am gradually getting more confident. I have made a couple of wonky quilts and would love to get better!!
Sarah says
SEW ME!
I took sewing lessons for 3 years in Junior High school and even made my Junior prom dress and a cute little matching purse, among other smaller projects. I’d say I was probably a 5, but my mother being a 10 (she made my senior prom dress, wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses–all spectacular) kind of made me lazy and lose my confidence. It was just easier to pawn off my trickier projects on her. Who was I to deprive her? Haha. I’ve definitely slipped to a 3, but now that I’m almost 30 and my mother’s 1960’s machine she gave me is on the fritz, I hope to get back into it. A new machine would be just the motivation I need! You guys are awesome for making such an amazing giveaway prize possible! Sending love from Canada!

SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 0! I’ve never sewed ever but I’m excited to try!
Serena Brittingham says
SEW ME!
I enjoy sewing…skill level between 7 and 8. I sew a lot of home decor as well as things for my granddaughter. Just finished an apron and chef’s hat for her!
Libby says
SEW ME!! 4-ish? I used to be pretty good using my mom’s, but haven’t had much access for 10+ years…
jehan says
sew me! I’m a 2.
Kara L says
Sew Me … I’m a 2 .. can’t make a skirt but curtains I can handle!
Sad – my mom makes her own patterns … just didn’t get that dna – but my daughter wants to sew … it has skipped a generation!
Lara Rassette says
sew me! I’d probably be a 0.5, haven’t sewn since middle school home ec but really want to try to learn!
Jenn says
SEW ME!!! I’m a 4.5. I’ve done some basic sewing… Pillows, curtains, pj pants. That’s about it though. I would like to get better at it though.
Lisa says
SEW ME! — I was a crafty kid and did sewing projects with my grandma all the time. I was probably a 6 then. Sadly, I haven’t touched a machine in years and would be starting over at a 1!
Meredith says
SEW ME!
I used to probably be a 3-4… I could hem curtains and sew a pillowcase, but I forgot how to thread the needle on my mom’s old sewing machine, and have been paralyzed with fear ever since! Haven’t touched it in YEARS!
That automatic needle threader sounds AMAZING
Heidi says
Sew me!
Can I be a -1? Is that possible? I come from a long line of seamstresses who can recreate any dress simply by looking at a picture and I manage to break every one I touch.
Robin says
I’m a 3. I can sew in straight lines and that’s pretty much it. Get fancy with corners, curves, button holes and we’re done. Which is sad because I want to learn and my mom can draw patterns free hand.
Tracy says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1. I might be able to sew a button back on but it probably won’t stay on for very long!
Marcie says
SEW ME! Probably a 6. I’ve made all the curtains in the house and some clothes for me and my son….but don’t look on the inside/back ;)
Felicity says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 6, but I’ve outgrown my bargain basement sewing machine. I need a more robust machine to improve my skillz.
Joscelynne says
SEW ME!!!
I’m probably a 2. I grew up with a mom and aunt that sew everything all the time but have not had a sewing machine to practice myself.
Ashley Mc says
“SEW ME!”
I’m gonna go with a 2 1/2 to 3
Willa says
SEW ME! Skill level 4–I used to sew, and probably would really practice with such a beautiful new machine–my present machine dates from the 50’s–I made some good stuff with it, but still, it doesn’t inspire me much anymore. . . .
Rachael G says
SEW ME!!!
I’s day I am a 5. In the last year, I have made curtains and three blankets. Two of the blankets are rag quilts that I found on Pinterest. I am an art teacher that typically pains on her own time, but sewing has become my new passion!
Emily says
SEW ME! I am a 1 for sure. A great disappointment to my home ec teacher mom.
Devon says
SEW ME! Maybe a 2? I used to take an embroidery class when I was little but now I can barely do a hem!
BHH says
SEW ME! I probably used to be a 3 or 4 but with no sewing machine for years now (boo!) I’m closer to a 2 now.
