***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Sew me!
About 1.5… I probably wouldn’t hurt myself, that’s about all :)
Meghan says
SEW ME!
I could maybe sew a wonky bag – but with a new machine I would definitely practice more :-)
laura says
So me! (Keep getting duplicate comment :-) I’m a 4 for home decor DIY ( made me some slipcovers with welting), but I can’t follow a pattern or make clothes, although with this machine I might give it a try!
Tara says
Sew me!
I’m probably a 3ish. I’ve made a few easy things, but am easily confused by patterns!
Sarah says
SEW ME!!
I am probably around a 5 or 6… I can sew but need instructions and lots of time :)
Rachel says
SEW ME!
I fake my way around projects and do my own thing but so far they have all turned out pretty well. I guess that makes me somewhere around a 4? A new singer would make me better for sure!
Dani says
Sew me! I’d say I’m a two…I can do small fixes on clothes/buttons, etc. but don’t think I’d be too great at actually creating anything from scratch.
Mariana says
SEW ME!!
I’m probably a 3… :)
Kitty says
SEW ME! I reckon I’d be a 6, but only on the condition that I unpick everything at least once before I finish,
Emily says
Sew me!
I’d say I’m a solid 3, 8 if my mom is standing right beside me telling me exactly what to do (and fixing my mistakes).
Stephanie S says
SEW ME!
I’ve been sewing since I was a little girl! I’ve made countless things, including some super-secret presents for Christmas this year! Also, I’m made my wedding rehearsal dress, a coat for my brother in law, sweatshirts for the niece and nephews…..etc, etc. So I guess I would be a 10!
Leslie Kay says
SEW ME!!
Mary Ellen says
Sew Me! I would probably rank myself an 8 or 9. My mother taught me to sew since I was about 6 years old. Now I am doing the same for my daughter!
Johanna says
SEW ME! I am a 1 but trying to climb higher.
Michelle B. says
SEW ME!
I would probably rate myself as about a 4.. I am not terrible but I could use some refreshers and practice to make anything other than pillowcases or misshapen attempts at sewing patterns.
Plus my current machine is not really usable anymore. It belonged to my mom, but not in a cool vintage way since it is made of off-white plastic and is probably from the late 80s…
Reann says
Sew Me!
I am probably below a 1. In home economics I sewed my armholes shut in a shirt I was making, so I hoping to win this and take lessons:)
Jessica says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 3! Wish I was better though :)
Amber says
Sew me! I’m a one…definitely one.
Jennifer says
Sew me! I’m at 0.5 as far as skill but I’ve been wanting to learn for a while now.
Donna says
SEW ME!
Probably a 2.5
Sarah McK says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2-3. My SIL (an easy 9-10) was teaching a sewing class at the Cyber school she works at last year–beginning sewing projects like laundry bags and scarves using old t-shirts. She’d never taught a class like that before so I was her test student :)
Theresa says
Sew me!
Sewing? I guess this is a chance to learn.
Lisa Leigh says
SEW ME!
I’m probably about a 2.
Doris says
SEW ME! I used to sew a lot of my clothes when I was younger and am now out of practice so I would say “6”.
Sarah B. says
SEW ME!
I am a 0. Couldn’t sew if my life depended on it, but I want to learn.
Kris says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2. I haven’t sewn since my teenage years, but I could probably make a really wonky bag. I have lots of projects I would like to try if I had a sewing machine.
cheryl says
SEW ME! I’m about a 6!
Meg says
Sew me!
I think I’d be a 3 or a 4. I’ve successfully made a bag under supervision, so I think that left to my own devices I could come up with a “wonky bag”
Tracie says
Sew me, please! I am a -2. Last time something needed mended, I used a stapler! This might help me improve just a bit :-)
Natalie says
Sew me! I’m a newbie but I took a class and really want a machine to experiment with
Emily says
SEW ME!
oh I so so so want this! I’m definitely more like a 1 on the sewing talent scale, but I have been dying to learn!
Jesse says
sew me!
I am a -1 in the sewing world… is that possible? You should probably never trust me around a sewing machine. I am entering so I could give this to my wife who could really use a new sewing machine. I know she would enjoy it so much but would never ask to buy a new nice one for herself.
Ashley says
Sew me!
This would encourage me to sew!
Andrea Goertzen says
SEW ME!
On the sewing scale I would probably give myself a 1 & only because I was forced to take a sewing class in junior high. I can barely sew on a button!
Jessica Cheung says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a 4 or 5. I’ve made fabric iPhone and iPod cases, ill fitting dog clothes, and super cute/cozy headband ear warmers. :)
Weezie says
Sew me! I’m a 3 or so, moderately skilled. Eighth grade home-ec from the days of “girls get home-ec and boys get shop” definitely helped.
Dina says
SEW ME!
I’m probably around a 3 too… Sherry has been motivating me to conquer my sewing fears though! And it’s amazing how much is coming back to me from 7th-grade home ec class.
Bluenoser says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m a 2 right now, but I might just be rusty. I used to have some decent sewing skillz when I was in high school.
Katie says
Sew me!
I have zilch in sewing ability! -3. This would be amazing!
Jeanette Williams says
SEW ME!!
Hmm, I was a 2 but am now probably a 1 since I haven’t touched a machine in quite a while!
eva says
SEW ME! I’m a 0 all the way baby-always seem to get stuck on the threaing but with this bad boy I’ll be on my way to a 5 in no time!
Kathy says
SEW ME!
I can sew my sock holes shut, so I think that’d make me a 2.
Kari says
I believe I’m a two or maybe a three if I’m super patient, but my husband is more like a four or five. But I’m learning and teaching my girls along the way.
Michelle Miller says
SEW ME!
I think I am more of a 6 or 7 on the scale. I can sew well when I take the time. I am a bit impatient though.
Alicia says
SEW ME! I’m about a 5. But would love to increase my skills and this machine seems like it could teach me a thing or two or three!!
Amber says
Sew me!!! I pretend to be a 3ish but am more of a .025.
Jayme says
SEW ME! I’m a 1, if that. I did take sewing lessons when I was little and have the apron I made to prove it. I would love to re-learn sewing!
kelly says
Sew me…I’m a 1 but wanting to learn
robyn says
“SEW ME!”
oh ya know a .5! ha ha
Alice says
SEW ME!
My grandma just taught me some simple sewing skills but I think I’m still a 1. She’s a pro who makes all her own clothes using her 60 year old Singer!
