***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!!
I’d say I’m a 3 but a sewing machine is on my Christmas list and I’m hoping to become more like a 7. Someday. ;)
Jamie says
SEW ME! Definitely a 1 but I have been wanting to get a sewing machine and learn. Maybe now I can. :)

Kayla D. says
SEW ME~
Definitely a 1. Zero, even. But I’ve wanted to get on the sewing bandwagon for so long now!
Jenna says
Sew me! I’m a level 1 and my mother in law would love it if I learned to sew! Then she wouldn’t have to hand sew all of the rips in pants and stuffed animals that I save up for her on her annual visit. I’d probably make something cut for myself too.
Adam says
SEW ME!
Kari says
Sew me!!
My hubby is a 4 or 5, but I’m learning with my girls, think I’m a two or three if I’m super patient.
JC says
Sew Me! Please :-)
I’d say I’m around a 3 – 5, but could even get up to a 6 or 7 if my current dodgy sewing machine weren’t such a huge factor in the “creative process”. I’d never be a 10, but it’s all about the journey, right?!
Amy says
SEW ME! In my dreams I’m a 5. But really I’m more like a 2. A new sewing machine would give me the motivation to be that 5!
Eryn says
SEW ME!! This girl can sew straight lines and can perhaps make a lovely corner or two. I suppose that makes me a wonky bag sewing 2.
Mayan says
SEW ME!!
definitely a 1.. iron-on hem tape is my best friend, but i want to learn!
Christina Miller says
Sew me, please!!!!
Maybe a 3…I made a pair of shorts in 8th grade HomeEc, but that was a looooooong time ago!
kara says
Sew Me!!! I would say I am a 2– so I need this!
Emma says
Sew Me! I think a 2, but when I sit down and remember how do wind the bobbin and thread the needle I should be a 3 or 4.
Tiffany T. says
Sew me!! I’m probably a three too, or possibly a 2.5. Either way this girl would love to do more!
Maria says
SEW ME!
I would say I am a 1, but I hope to someday move up!
Melissa H. says
Sew me!
I’m definitely a 1, but I’d like to be more like a 5. :)
Elizabeth says
Sew me!
I am definitely a zero. Or a negative.
Lauren says
SEW ME!!! I’d say I’m a 5. Pillows and curtains I can do. Clothes, not so much…
Emily says
SEW ME!!!
I am probably about a 2. I have used a sewing machine twice and I’m not completely sure that the lines were even straight!!! I would love to learn how to though!
Sandy B says
SEW ME!
On a sewing scale, I’m probably a good 6 or 7. I used to sew a lot — costumes for the kids, dresses, bags, etc. But I work full time and my skills are so rusty and my sewing machine so frustrating that I don’t sew as much as I used to. But with this beauty ………
Laura says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m with Sherry at a 3, maybe a little bit higher at a 4, but my sewing skills are slowly going down without a machine! I need this in my life!
Amanda says
SEW ME!
I would rank myself a 5!
Katy says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 3 in terms of sewing. I’m a 9 for knitting, though, and I feel like I could get involved with sewing.
Amy says
SEW ME! I’d say around a five. I did finish a quilt for my granddaughter.
Becki says
SEW ME! I would say a 6 or 7, I can sew a few things thanks to a friend who gave my daughter and I lessons.
Mary McAllister says
SEW ME! I can sew a straight line. In fact I’ve perfected the straight line.
Lindee says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1, but often dream of making slip covers, pillows, and drapes. :)
Lisa says
Sew me!
Hmmmm, I’m probably a 2, but I’m sure that with some practice I could improve.
Silvia says
I would say i am about a 3 like Sherry. I have a machine but have been dreaming about an upgrade for a while.
Gennie S. says
SEW ME! I’m a two…straight line sewing is about all I can manage
Heather says
SEW ME! I’m probably an 8 — I will sew anything, but sometimes the results are a bit wonky because I’m totally incapable of followning a pattern.
Raeann says
SEW ME!
Definitely on the wonky bag train (or maybe worse). I made a pretty awesome Angry Bird costume for Halloween last year…that started unraveling about 45 minutes into the night. My second sewing project resulted in a gorgeous throw pillow for my cousin…that burst when she leaned back on it for the first time. A magical sewing machine is exactly what I need! ;)
Kandice says
Sew me! With 10 being the best, I’m close to a 2-3 but want the time (and machine!) to learn more,?
Luis says
Sew me!
I have worked with textiles for years- I’m a 10.
Marie-Etta says
SEW ME!!
I’d say a 7. I enjoy quilting and sewing clothes.
Becky says
Sew Me. I was probably a nine once upon a time, but probably down to a 3.
Susan says
SEW ME!
I’m a 5 or 6. I can sew a costume, pajamas, and some really nice window treatments. I don’t have a serger, so clothes are a no go! Also, sewing is far more expensive than people understand- so I think it’s best use is custom window treatments.
And that’s my opinion! I’d love to have this machine!
Alison says
SEW ME!
I think I’m with the likes of a wonky bag… so 3, meh.
marjorie says
Sew me! I’maybe a 4. I can do a straight line and that’s about it!
Brent says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a 4 or a 5. I currently use my great grandmother’s vintage singer machine, which I replaced the plugs on after finding it in our attic. After some cleaning and some oiling, she works like the day she was made. She’ll sew through just about anything you throw at her, but she’s a straight stitch machine, so she doesn’t have any of the decorative stitches. She’s also very heavy, and I haven’t yet found a table to put her in so she hasn’t gotten much use lately.
Laura says
Sew me! I’m a professional seamstress, but I don’t think I could claim a 10 – sewing blindfolded sounds… challenging. :)
Jess says
SEW ME!!! I am probably a 2, but it’s been a while since I last used a sewing machine.
Meg says
SEW ME! My number on the sewing scale is a “1” and I am so eager to learn some tricks of the trade!
Jana says
SEW ME! I love to sew, and I am about a 7! The ease of this new Singer machine sounds great. My first machine (at 12) was a Singer-black with gold painted designs all over. It was (and is)beautiful and still works! It was made in the 20’s and only sews a straight stitch. I had to save up to buy it! I used to make halter tops back in the 70’s!
Jen says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2!
Savina says
A 1. No sewing skills…yet!
Kelsey Noble says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 6, I’m working on my first quilt.
Kate Mac says
SEW ME :)
I might be a two, but that’s pushing it!
