***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Sew me!!
Maybe a 4? I make clothes, slipcovers, and blankets, but I’m far from good. My vintage machine is on its last legs….
Crystal @ The Hollidays at Home says
SEW ME!
I cannot sew at all but have really been wanting to try. I’d like to make pillows for my new sofa, sew simple things for my daughter, and just be able to make simple fixes using a sewing machine. So, please sew me! Thanks for the giveaway.
Nevette says
SEW ME!
I am -100 on the sewing scale! That means I can only get better! :)
Lori says
sew me! i’d say i’m a 3, maybe a 3.5 on a good day.
Karen says
Sew ME!
I’m at a 1, but so interested in moving up the scale. This would REALLY help that!
Emily says
Sew me! I’m a 3 maybe after I warm up. Otherwise I just curse a lot.
Lynsey says
Sew me!
I’m probably a 3-4. Good enough to make do, but I definitely couldn’t pass anything off as professional!
Emily says
SEW ME!! I am around a 4. I have a very old machine that was handed down to my from one of my aunts. I would love to improve my skills on a new machine!
julianne says
sew me :]
i’m probably a 3.5
Rebecca Colburn says
2.0. My mom has told me my sewing looks like a rat’s nest. Help!
Kendra says
SEW ME!!
I’m definitely a 1. Maybe a 0. I can’t even sew a button back on a shirt (my husband has to do it for me :-/) but I really really really want to learn…which is why I really really really hope I win!!!
Heather says
Sew me!!
I would rank probably 1-2, I can sew a patch on a hole in jeans but that’s about it….
Alice W. says
SEW ME! I took home ex. class in junior high and made a pair of pants that were 3 x my size…stupid pattern unless I was suppose to buy it junior size versus woman’s size….?????? I also made pillows. I give myself a 5 out of 10. I used a Janome brand sewing machine but I do like how this Singer has an automatic needle threader and touch selection keys…talk about ergonomically user friendly :)
Meagan G says
Sew me!! I’m a novice and have a pretty good sewing machine already. If I win this one it’s going straight over to my friend, Emily, who has been dying to learn. I can’t think of a better way to start off the new year than learning a new craft!
Maria says
SEW ME!
I have to say I’m about a 1 1/2. I took a beginners class and just my luck my machine (which was a hand me down) broke in the middle of the class and kept me from learning any more. I enjoyed what I did learn.
Sasha says
This is so cool :)
Please sew me ;)
Am somewhere above three, working my way towards 10. I love sewing, but since moving to England to study I haven’t had access to a sewing machine. And if I can be totally honest, I really miss sewing. To me it is such a relaxing “task” :)
Best wishes

SEW ME! I’d say I am a 4. I can sew when I try real hard – but it’s never in a straight line.
Janie says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 2 or 3. I made a purse that I saw on pinterest at my Mom’s house with her help. I can sew in straight lines but anything beyond that is a little too complex for me!
Laura says
SEW ME!
My sewing skills are at a 1, but I would like to be able to do more!
Natalie says
SEW ME!
I have started re-learning sewing just this year after not touching a machine since high school. I’m happy to brag that I’m pretty good maybe a 7. I haven’t tired anything too complicated yet. I find sewing gorgeous dress for my nieces easy because they don’t have to be perfect in order to fit.
Courtney says
Sew me! I’m a 1 now but hoping to become better! A sewing machine is on my xmas list but winning one would be nice!
Laura Henry says
SEW ME! I’m probably between a 3 and a 5. I definitely need some practice though!
Rebecca Colburn says
Oops! Sew me!
Aileen says
SEW ME! I’m a 1, but I’m taking a sewing 101 class soon. There’s hope!
Erin says
SEW ME!!
I’m probably a 4-5. I can sew pillow covers and relatively straight-hanging curtains, but I’ve also faked my way through a few slipcovers. They turned out ok, if you looked at them from a distance!
Jessica says
SEW ME!!! I’m going with a 4, but i’m not a perfectionist, so I can’t promise straight edges!
Naomi says
Sew ME! An international prize, yippee, happy days! I would have said I was a 3 at sewing but seeing what Sherry has sewed in the past and her ranking herself a 3, I’m going to have to say I’m a 2. BUT how cool would this singer machine make me. It’s gotta rise my rank by a notch or 3!
Isabella says
SEW ME!!!!:) I’m a 6 if I’m quilting and and a 4 for anything else….my projects always have some quirky detail (to fix a “whoops”)
Sarah Bentham says
Sew me! If the machine is threaded for me, I can sew bags and hem things – but I have a hard time threading the machine itself. I helped my mom sew our cushions for our outdoor furniture, but I’d love to learn to sew more!
Belinda says
SEW ME!
3 like Sherry. Can sew basics, but then spend an hour trying to work out a seemingly basic angled sew!
Robin B says
Sew me!!! I’m a 4. But that’s because I have a super old machine that has to be babied to work right. :)
audrey says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2
Kathie M says
I would have to call myself a 10. I’ve been sewing since I was 13. I make quilts, clothing and even made my own wedding dress. It’s my most favorite hobby in the world.
Heather D says
SEW ME!!
I’m right around a 2! I’m hoping to work my way higher up the scale this year though….
Erin C says
SEW ME!
Still a novice but I’m slightly obsessed with fabrics!!
Michelle says
SEW ME!!
I’m about a 3. I sew the Halloween costumes each year, but as my kids are getting older and have their own ideas about what they want to be, it’s getting increasingly difficult. Could use an “easy” machine for sure.
Emily says
SEW ME! If a bag is a 3, then I’m about a 2. I’ve made bean bags, a resting blanket for my daughter to take to school, and a — wait! a drawstring bag for her instruments! Maybe I really *am* a 3!
Lauren says
Sew me! Probably a 3, though I’m rusty after years of not sewing. Fun fact, my great-grandfather was a Singer sewing machine salesman :)
beth says
sew me!!!
i have good days and bad but today i would say a 5
Stacie says
Sew me!
I’d say I’m a four? I’ve made many a bowtie. And I’ve repurposed the burlap runners from our wedding for several sewing projects. I keep meaning to take a real sewing class but end up just calling my mom instead.
Danielle says
sew me! I made a Christmas tree skirt out of two old bridesmaid dresses, but it came out kind of skewed. In my heart, I’m a 5, in actual quality at completion, 0.5!
Rebecca says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1 but I want to learn so badly!
Carolyn says
SEW ME! I’m a 1 definitely!
Vivianna Pena says

SEW ME!
I do not sew at all but my mommy would love this beauty! And she makes me tons of stuff so it’s really for me anyway! :)
Amanda w says
If Sherry’s a 3, I’m a two. I know the concepts and can sew on a button. I could probably also make a pillow if I had to. But someone would have to load the thread in the machine for me.
Melanie says
Sew me!
I am a 5 or 6…used to work in a fabric store.
Dara says
SEW ME…. I am probably a 3 as well. I like to think I’m at least a 5, but I really stink. I try really hard, but them i give up in the middle. Lol.
Alisha S says
Sew Me!
I’m probably a 5 when it comes to sewing skills.
Ashley says
SEW ME! On a scale of 1 to 10, I’m probably close to -2. But I’ve always always always wanted to learn. Maybe this will push me in that direction? Fingers crossed.
