***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

I am a 2, but I would really like to learn and become a 6 :)

SEW ME!
I asked my boyfriend for a sewing machine for Christmas, but Lord knows he’ll have a heck of a time trying to pick one out. This would solve his problem for sure! I took home ec in high school.. learned a bit.. and have been itching to learn more lately – I would say I’m about a two or three. This would be fantastic! It’s pretty chilly up here in Saskatchewan and I could certainly use this to sew some nice warm blankets for the loooong winter ahead :)

Sew Me! I’m about a three on the sewing skills continuum. Fingers crossed!
Megan says
Sew me! I’d say I’m a good 3. I can mend, sew from a pattern and sometimes can even freestyle. i would love a machine that I didn’t pick up from a garage sale that can help get me sewing more often!
Danica Allen says
Sew Me! I’m a 3. I can sew a straight line. Well kind of…
Kara says
SEW ME. I’m SEW a 3. But I really want to try making curtains!
Jenna says
SEW ME! I’ll be kind a give myself a 4 – I’ve sewn blankets & Christmas stockings before, but nothing extraordinarily complicated. My $20 machine that I bought from an Amish woman in PA could use an upgrade! :)
Tori says
SEW ME! I know nothing about sewing machines, but I can replace missing buttons..that has to count for a point or two (or at least a half?)
Stephanie L. says
SEW ME! I’m a 0. I can’t even sew a button! I need major help.
Lena says
SEW ME!
because I need to visit my mum to attach buttons for me :)
Nicole Foley says
SEW ME! I’m a confident…3. Yeah, I make a wonky bag like it’s nobody’s business. I also specialize in Uneven seams.
whosthatbina says
SEW ME! please!
i am about a two, i can make a drawstring bag or pillow case but don’t look too closely at it, please. my sewing machine is jury-rigged in a few ways which probably doesn’t help.
Andie says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 3, I can sew a straight line well enough to hem my own pants, that’s the extend of my sewing portfolio though. Want to learn to sew more since I have a litte one on the way :)
amie says
SEW ME, please! :)
I would have to say I am about a 7….love to sew, take on difficult projects, and finish them (hopefully) with flying colors! :)Thanks!
Lauren Arruda says
SEW ME!
Definitely a wonky 3 over here!!!!
Ginger says
Sew me! I am a 1 for sure. Sherry is more like a 6 or 7!!
Stacie says
SEW ME! I am ranked at about a 3 on the sewing scale. I used my little sisters sewing machine every time I came home from college to make little odds and ends projects and have since kind of forgotten all that I learned. But I could get back into the swing of it :) !
AshleyMG says
SEW ME!! I’m probably a 6. I am somewhat self-taught. I made a quilt for my son after he was born and am now working on my second quilt for my baby girl.
Brittany W. says
Sew Me!
I’m probably a 4.5. The couple times I have used a (borrowed) sewing machine, I did alright, but I’ve still been known to break a few needles.
Amanda says
SEW ME!!
I’d rate myself a 7 – pretty confident but severally limited by my current super basic sewing machine!
This is the giveaway I’ve been secretly hoping you’d do for the longest time!!
Elizabeth says
Sew me!
I come from a long line of women who sew fabulously. As a child I learned how to make doll clothes and quilts, but it took too much patience and precision so I gave it up quickly. Lately, after getting married and starting a home of our own, I’ve been thinking about picking it back up and relearning. I’d currently rate my skill level at a wiggly-line 4. ;)
Monica B says
SEW ME! I would say I’m about a 5. I would love to have a machine to try to make more instead of lugging my mom’s ancient machine back and forth each time!
careen says
SEW ME
I’m a 1. I’ve been wanting to learn for a long time, though. Need to make curtains, pillows, maybe skirts?
Emily F says
SEW ME! I am probably a 2…I can hem a pair of pants and maybe a pillow cover on a really lucky day :-)
Heather says
Sew Me! I’m about a 2 1/2 on the sewing skills continuum. I kinda stopped sewing when my sister became a dress maker – why reinvent the wheel? But now she lives 1 500km away I really have no excuse hey? My sewing is more a ‘I think that’s a bag … but I’m not sure’.
Leslie says
SEW ME! I’m probably about a 6 or 7… I sew for others, but prefer very simple projects.
Hey, BTW, do you use a spray paint gun type thing or do you just get a numb finger when you spray paint? I did 2 sprayed projects on Saturday and my finger is still numb :(
Kay says
SEW ME! I think I’m a 7…
Alison says
SEW ME! I’m for sure a 1, but would love to learn and there is a sewing studio near my house where I can sign up for classes :)
Allie says
SEW ME!!
I have wanted a sewing machine so badly, cause I’m definitely a ‘1’. But I just know if I had a sewing machine, I’d be making the most fab curtains, tablecloths, aprons, and all other Pinterest projects I’ve been eye-ing.
Thanks!!
Sheila says
Sew me! I would say I’m a 2. We just moved into a house and I took a room and now claim it as a craft room. I would love a new sewing machine to help me out a bit with some of the things I need for this new home. :)
Amy says
SEW ME!
I’m a 3. This weekend I reached the point where I used a zigzag stitch, can rethread the machine without looking at the manual, and sewed with an almost 3 year old on my lap. For those reasons I upgraded myself to a 3…with the dreams of being a 20. : )
Lauren says
SEW ME!
Can I rate myself negative? I’ve never had a sewing machine and would like to get up to a 2 or maybe even a 3… but for now manhandling buttons is just about as far as I dare to thread, I mean tread. :)
Emily says
Sew Me! I am not a great seamstress but would love to learn!!!
Lauren says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 4.5. I just made a swanky crate cover for my dog so I’m feeling good about my skills right now! ( :
Sarah says
SEW ME! I’m a 1 with a machine and maybe a 3 by hand – I can sew a button and maybe a little hem here and there but I would love to try and improve my machine rating with this little baby! Thanks for the awesome blog guys – it’s fantastic! x
Jess says
Sew me!
I’d say I’m a 3, although I’d love to raise that number soon!
Amy J. says
SEW ME! My Grammy used to force me to do needlepoint, and I took a quilting class at the age of 10… but I also remember breaking the machine at the class like three times… maybe a 0.5?
linda says
Sew Me! I was an 8 when I sewed regularly. Now about a 4. I recently realized my old Singer has seen better days and since I want to sew more, I need to upgrade.
Julie A says
SEW ME! I barely know anything but want to learn!
Jessica says
SEW ME! I am probably about a 5. My mom taught me how to sew and cross-stitch. I did pain-stakingly made a handsewn slipcover for a chair in college but now, can barely find time to sew a hole in a pair of pants! ;)
Jessica says
Sew Me!
I’d say i’m a 2. I can repair a button… but I’d love a machine so I can teach myself to do more :)
Monica says
SEW ME!I would say I’m a 4, although I do all my sewing with my mom “sew” she can be there to rescue me when the bobin runs out!
Patty says
SEW ME! :)
I’d say I’m about a 1. I can sew a straight line, but that’s about it!! (Hemming pants, fixing broken toys, etc)
I would like to learn to sew more, though! :)
HelloDoorSeven says
SEW ME!!!!
If 3 would mean being able of sewing a wonky bag… I probably would be a 1 or maybe 2. I actually sewed with a machine only once, to make the curtains in our living room and kitchen. The result is pretty good considering it was my first time, but borrowing a machine every time is a mess. Maybe I am lucky this time :P
Abbie says
SEW ME!
I’m an alright sewer… Maybe a 4? Would love to get into it and learn to sew more than I do now.
Tarah says
SEW ME!
I’d rank myself at around a 5. I can stitch up some basic items and once made a skirt although I was almost too worried to wear it once finished just in case it suddenly came apart! (I would always carry a spare – shop bought – skirt with me when I did dare to put it on!)
Colleen says
SEW ME!
I would so love to win this! It’s on my Christmas wish list (way over the price limit we set for ourselves).
I am probably a 1 now. I took sewing in 6th grade, which was longer ago than I’d like to admit (OMG, 24 years – why did I stop to calculate that????) I will have to start fresh, read the manual and ask my MIL for help w/ patterns.
Maggie says
Sew Me!! I would say I’m a 6? I’ve made a costume, but mostly I stick with what I know-pillowcases!
Audrea says
SEW ME!… 1 totally a 1
Skooks says
SEW ME! LOL – – your scale is funny. Not sure where I would rank on that chart . . . maybe a 6 or 7? I’ve actually made a lot of bags in the past, I’ve even sold some of them. No blindfolded sewing over here though, that’s for sure! :)
