***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
I’m a 2 at best. Some experience but so long ago that now I just curse the machine whenever it’s out of its corner.
Anna says
SEW ME! I would say I am at maybe a level 3 at sewing. I can do a few different fun things but my goal is to be able to do it all! even re-upholstering big furniture? One can only dream (and maybe take a few classes) =0)
Angela says
SEW ME! 3 :)
Brittany says
Sew Me! I am probably a 2! I love making baby bedding and dresses for my daughters but only with the help of my grandma, who is a pro :-)
DeeDee says
Sew Me! Just took up quilting this year and I really need a new machine. This one would be perfect!

Connie says
At my best, maybe a 3, but it has been years since I’ve used a sewing machine. Would love to get back to it.
Meredith says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 6… working hard at becoming a 7!
Laura B. says
Sew Me (please)
I’m a 2. I aspire to someday be a 3 or 4.
Jen says
SEW ME! I think I’m a 3 like Sherry. I managed to damage the sewing machine that I have by getting a little too ambitious one time (the foot doesn’t lift all the way anymore). But I still break it out from time to time anyway.
Karla says
Dew me!
I’d say I’m about a three, like Sherry. I can sew a mean potholder!
Karla says
Oops, I mean “sew me.”
SarahR says
SEW ME!! I would say I’m a 4….I like to tell myself that I know how to sew, but I never have ventured out to sew anything much harder than some curtain panels or a quick hem.
Sue Ryan says
SEW ME! I would say I’m about a five or six. I can sew with a pattern and a little improvisation, but I’m no expert.
Barbara says
SEW ME! I’m right along a 4 to 5. I can sew and follow a pattern, but somehow, things never quite line up…
Katie says
Sew Me!! I’m probably a 3 like Sherry, but would love to learn more!
Danielle says
SEW ME! – Yay, an international prize giveaway.
I’m defintely a 1 – but am about to start a sewing course….so soon I hope to be an 11 (11 = sew a bag from stratch, blindfolded and hoping on one leg!!!)
Kristin G says
SEW ME!!!
I would ran myself a 4. I am not trained nor do I like to follow patterns. I like to just figure things out for myself as I go. This can be crazy frustrating, but also pretty awesome when I am able to create something that I imagined in my mind. Like my daughter’s first birthday tutu or her first stocking.
Sarah Ott says
Sew Me! I’m a 0, but have been wanting to learn for a long time!
LesLee says
SEW ME!
I’m a 3. In college I made a ton of quilts but super basic sewing squares together and in high school I rocked out a lot of PJ bottoms and can follow a basic pattern but it’s been a while and I need my skills back!
KimB says
SEW ME!

Definitely a 1…but i want to be a 10 so bad!!!
Alex H says
Sew Me! I’d say I’m a 2. Once upon a time I could make a pillow.
Janine says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 1 or 2 with a sewing machine. My mom bought a Singer sewing machine about 40+ years ago and has used it for every sewing machine project since then. I’ve tried using it for my own little projects but it’s so loud and scary, and not quite as “user friendly” as it once was.
Confession: ‘Sewing Machine’ is the only thing listed on my Christmas Wish List this year.
This one would be awesome.
Barb M says
SEW ME! I’m a three. Home Ec was a long time ago.
Kari says
SEW ME!
I would rank myself around a 6-7 on the sewing scale. I have made clothes, curtains and shades for my home, dolls, stuffed animals, and many other projects. I could really use a new machine because I am going to start making clothes for my 5 month old son!
Katie says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1, but I’d take a wonky bag over the nothingness I’ve produced any day!
Kyla says
Sew me!
I would say I’m about a 5, thanks to my mom that enrolled me in classes when I was 9. :)
Kristin says
Sew Me!
What a great giveaway! I would put myself in the 6-7 range. Depends on what I am sewing. Zippers aren’t my friend, but anything else no problem.
Heather says
Sew Me! I would say I’m a 5… I can do ok, but there is still lots to learn!
Rachel says
SEW ME!!
I would have to say I am about a 6. I can sew a simple quilt and I am a bag master. John, I’m sure i could even teach you how to sew a bag. My husband says it isn’t too different from using a scroll saw
Heidi NL says
SEW ME!!!!
I’m probably a 5. I used to be a costume designer in my high school and college theater days but I haven’t touched a sewing machine in probably 8 years! So I’m a bit rusty.
Cate Z says
Sew me!! I can sew curtains and piece quilts, but would love to machine quilt!
Kristen says
SEW ME!. Sadly I am a 1, but i think this baby could bring me up to a 3… I’ve been dreaming about sewing up some wonky table cloths.
Cathy says
Sew me!
3 maybe 4, if I really concentrate!

SEW ME!
Maybe a 2 … At my best, I’ve sewed rectangular curtain panels.

Danielle says
SEW ME! I’m about a 4 and am sewing dog beds for Chritmas gifts this year!
Michelle says
Sew Me
Definitely a 2, could sew the bag but most likely it would end up being too small to fit anything in or ridiculously large. Would love to learn more though!
Jennifer says
SEW ME!
Total 0 but I have a pinterest board called ” if I ever learn to sew” :)
Christina says
SEW ME!!
I failed one class in highschool. Sewing. How does one do that, you might ask? After several disasters, my final sewing project for gr. 9 was an outfit; top & surfer shorts (you know, the kind that go halfway down the leg!). Well, my shorts ended up being about 2 inches long with a 15 inch high waist!!
I humbly remain at a -3 on the sewing scale. I’m an avid ‘pinner’ on PINTEREST, though, and would possibly love to try my hand at sewing once again.
Beth says
SEW ME! I would rank my sewing skills at a 4 – I can sew a straight seam and make simple curtains, pillows, skirts, etc., but have not tackled a real-for-sure pattern project. Would love to start though!
Jay says
SEW ME! I’m probably about a 3. Haven’t sewn in years but have thought about tackling my own curtains if I had a machine.
Stacie @ Hometown Perch says
SEW ME!
I really need to replace my circa 1970’s JC Penney model. :-) I’m prabably a level 3 with Sherry. I can sew a wonky bag.
Eliza says
SEW ME!
Seeing as I don’t even really know how to sew on a button, I am a self-proclaimed 1, but I have been telling my mom for the past year that I want to learn how use a machine. This would be the most awesome gift to win!!!
Danielle says
SEW ME! I’m about a 3 and use my mom’s 20+ year old machine while could use replacing ;)
dawn says
SEW ME!! I am a novice but have fond memories of my mother making things on her sewing machine. I’d love to learn with a machine like this!
Angela says
SEW ME! I just started sewing on my mother-in-laws orignal machine. I absolutely love it, however I am no expert. I would rate myself a 4… i can’t wait to learn more!
Danielle says
SEW ME! I’m about a 3 and would love to start sewing more.
Jenn Sullivan says
SEW ME!!
1 for sure but I want to learn!
