***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Sew Me!
I’m a zero, but want to learn:)
Charity says
Sew me! Hmmm..not sure what I remember from middle school I’d have to go with a 1.
Katie says
SEW ME! I’m a 3-wanna-be-10. I’m trying my hand at sewing my kids’ Christmas pajamas this year–I may have to downgrade to a 3 if that doesn’t go smoothly.
Kristin says
SEW ME!
I’d say I am about a 3. I can sew a straight line after about a good 20 minutes of test runs on scraps…but I often resort to iron on hem tape for the convenience!
Sarah C says
SEW ME!!! I’m probably a 3 or 4 – I make a lot of stuff but none of it is very tricky (or good).
Marie says
SEW ME! I was a 1 a few months ago, perhaps I’ve worked my way slowly up to a 2..=)
Maureen C says
SEW ME! I’m probably a two… I can make very minor repairs and that’s about it
Lina says
SEW ME! I’m a 5 or 6, would like to learn more!
Erik says
SEW ME!
Corie says
SEW ME!
Im definitely a 1 – havent sewed since 7th grade home economics.
Mia says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m maybe a 4 or a 5. I have made a few pillows for our house and because my sister is a BIG 10, I get lots of help learning to sew new projects!
Jenny says
SEW ME!
I might be in the 3-5 range. I have been sewing several years on an old 1970’s machine that a good friend of mine rescued from the trash. Since my ten year old daughter likes to sew even more than I do, we would have great fun with two machines around the house.
Alison says
Sew me! I am really terrible sewing with a machine. I tried to make a throw pillow and couldn’t figure out why my thread kept snarling and needle kept breaking, until I realized my presser foot was up…
Veronica says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 2.5, i’d be further along but my sewing machine was stolen (long story)
michelle says
SEW ME ! I think I’m about a 3 , I haven’t tried clothes yet but have almost finished a quilt , and can whip up a softie without too much drama.
Kara says
SEW ME! I would say I am a 4 or 4.5.
Jasmine Williams says
SEW ME!
I’d say about a 3. My mum makes amazing quilts and taught me a bit as a child but would love to get into it myself now I’m all grown up!
Debby says
Sew Me!!!
-1!
Amelia R. says
Sew me!
I ‘m probably in the 5-6 range; I’m not headed for Project Runway or anything, but I can (mostly) follow a pattern and I improvise decently, too.
Erik says
SEW ME! I’m a -1.
Zara says
SEW ME!!
I would say I am a 4. I can work a sewing machine and I’ve sewed some makeshift curtains from a pillow case, but that’s pretty much it!
Alanna says
SEW ME!!!
I’m maybe a four. Decent and would be better if my beautiful vintage Singer weren’t confusingly broken (no idea what is wrong and my 8 or 9 ranking mom and I have taken it apart as much as we can).
nora says
SEW ME ! I am about a six. I love to sew but need a new machine!
Rebecca Torres says
SEW ME! I think I fall somewhere between a 2 and a 3. I sewed my pwn curtains many years ago but am not as good as I would like to be. I want to practice more and try making all kinds of things, but I need a sewing machine of my own, as going to my mothers way across the city is not an option I can take advantage of very often.
Ashley Oldenettel says
Sew Me!!! I’m probably a 2 but with this I could be at least a 5 in no time!! :)
Alison says
Sew me!
I’d say a 4-5… I can figure things out as I go along but I definitely don’t attempt anything fancy :) I use the sewing machine my mom received as a wedding gift (30 years ago!) so I wouldn’t mind an upgrade!
Kathy V says
SEW ME! I would rank myself about a 7or 8 but if I had this machine I would be inspired to sew more and build my skills! My current student Singer (circa 1990) does the job but THIS baby?! I could make some beautiful quilts with it!
Christina says
SEW ME! I’m a 1.
Russ Ann Oppermann says
Sew Me
I’m not even a 1. Maybe a -1
Mara says
SEW ME! I’ve sewn a few things, but am still more-or-less a beginner. :)
Katie says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 3. But I started at 0 so that’s progress!
Penny says
SEW ME!!
Cathy says
SEW ME! I’m a decent fake, but in truth I’m really a FOUR. Nothing to be proud of, but then again, after years of frustration with some serious problems with my machine, I finally gave it away and I was actually looking to buy one . . .
Russ Ann Oppermann says
Sew Me
I’m not even a 1.
Jenn H. says
SEW ME!
I would say I am a 3…I can sew things together with some straight stitching but the stitching wont be straight! ;)
Kelly says
Sew me!
I’m probably a 5, but I love sewing!
Katie says
I’m a 3-wanna-be-10. I’m trying my hand at sewing my kids’ Christmas pajamas this year–I may have to downgrade to a 2 if that doesn’t go smoothly. (Oh, sew me!)
Meaghan says
SEW ME! I’m probably around a 5.5, I’ve made pillows and such for a while, but I recently made my first dress from a pattern on my own and it came out pretty fabulous! However, I have about a dozen more patterns I haven’t touch because it is still pretty intimidating to me!
Ashley says
SEW ME!!!! I would say I’m a 5, can sew some but I’m not that advanced!
Michelle says
This machine is SEW ME!!!
I’m a three, maybe a four now, because the last pillow i made was pretty square but only because i’ve been borrowing a machine for the past two years. I could definitely stand to give it back and replace it with this lovely one! Thanks for the giveaway!
Gabrielle says
SEW ME!
I hand sew most things because my cheap and nasty sewing machine seems to have a mind of its own :) I think a decent machine would inspire me to aim to be a solid 5 out of 10.
Ash says
ohhh I’d love this and my new sectional would love a few homemade made pillows!! sew me!
Brooke says
SEW ME!!
I am about a 4 or 5, but hoping to get better. :)
Cecilee says
SEW ME!!!
So (sew) a 1! Can barely sew a button on. Sew sad!
Amanda says
SEW ME!
I can definitely work my way around a sewing machine. I haven’t used one in years until just a few months ago and it all came flying back to me. :)
Amy Parigi says
Sew me!
I would put myself at a 5/6. Maybe modest. Maybe not. I don’t know enough to know. Would love to have an extra machine for my daughters!
Teri says
SEW ME!! I’m probably a 7 or 8 – I regularly make clothes for my girls, I just made new curtains, stockings, a tree skirt, table runner and pillow covers…. The only problem is I have been sewing on the machine I inherited from my grandmother. It’s a great machine and does what I need it to do, but it’s old. I would love to get a new machine with some cool features.
JennyME says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 2, but I’m determined to become a 10. Some day!
Amy says
Sew me! I am a 1 but willing to learn!
K Brady says
Sew Me!
I’m at a 2. I took a sewing class in High School (and loved it!) but have definitely forgotten any and all learned skills in the years since!
