***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!! The last time I tackled anything more than a button was junior year in home-ec… I’m definitely a 1!!! I would love to learn though ;)
Kelly M says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 3 or 4 on a scale of 1-10.
kirsten says
SEW ME! I am a 1 currently, but I’d love to learn to sew.
Courtney says
SEW ME! Likely a two or three, but it’s a downhill slide the older I get!
Eric says
Sew me. My wife wants to learn but doesn’t have a machine. Maybe I can use this as a Christmas present?! :)
Maria says
Sew me! Oh thanks for the chance to win this sewing machine – what a wonderful gift it would make!
Jenni says
Sew me!
I’d say I’m probably about a 3. I can whip up a simple pillow or hem some drapes, but my skills aren’t much past that. Thanks for the giveaway!
Sheleah Fletcher says
“SEW ME”
I think I would categorize myself as a 2. I sew on buttons proficiently:)
However, I have 3 little kiddos and would love to start a little sewing. Thanks so much!
Lani Savvidis says
Sew me!
I’d rate myself a 6-I’ve made a dress to wear to a wedding but most sewing projects I’ve done have come with lots of frustration, something that could probably be solved with a fabulous new sewing machine!
Anne G. says
SEW ME! I’m in a bag right now and want to get out! Help me SINGER!
Callie says
SEW ME! If the grading is based on tote bags I give myself an 9+. I mean, I can add a zipper AND a pen pocket. But if it goes beyond sewing straight lines in various sizes of rectangles, I give myself a 6. If it goes on my child’s reaction to her Merida Halloween costume, well, I can’t say because that would be bragging. :) Awesome give away!
Liesel says
SEW ME! I’m about a 3. And this machine looks AWESOME!!
Ann says
Sew me! And I’m totally a 1 – I don’t know anything about sewing but would love to learn.
katy says
Sew me! Having this guy would be amazing. I have a long short list of projects I want to conquer in the coming months, including a table runner to help tie all the colors together in my kitchen/living/dinning area and a chic dog bed (maybe two if I get ambitious). I think my sewing skills are about a 5–I’ve had little formal training outside 7th grade home ec class, but my grandma is an amazing seamstress, so I feel it’s in my blood.
Sarah K says
SEW ME! I consider my sewing skills as “semi professional”! But my sewing machine is older than I am so a new one would be fantastic!
Benedicte says
Sew me!
I am probably a 3ish. I taught myself how to use my used/cheap singer a few years ago. I am really good at sewing straight lines!!
Ili says
SEW ME!
10 in my dreams, probably 2 in reality. A girl can dream, right?!
Erin S. says
SEW ME! Please. No, seriously, please sew me!

1 all the way.
Jessica says
Please sew me! I’m like John at a 1. Can’t do more than turn that thing on.
Cheri Bynum says
SEW ME!!! I would give myself a conservative 6. That’s because I can make something from scratch (my own pattern or free hand) before using a store bought pattern. Those things are like trick words:(
Elena says
SEW ME!
Probably a 7. I used to make pretty elaborate things like a snowsuit for my then baby (now a college student) and dresses for her but that was ssooooo long time ago
Diana says
SEW ME!
I’m a definate 3 if my sewing class at high school is anything to go by. Actually, make that a 2…!
Julie says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 5 – I can figure things out by looking at them and can follow simple patterns, but can’t do anything fancy.
Danielle Walts says
SEW ME! Definitely a 3 as I have the wonky bag from a sewing class as proof :-)
Roberta says
Sew me! I will make you an holiday sweater and one for Burger too :)
Lori says
Probably a 3. I can sew an awesome pillow case WITH a zipper if I look at directions, but that’s pretty much it.
nina says
Sew me! Not a sew-er and I have the failed projects to prove it….
Victoria Douglas says
SEW ME!
I used to be a 10, definitely slipped to a 4-5. Dying to start sewing again but no machine makes it hard!
Erin says
SEW ME! I’m totally a 1, although a decade ago (high school) I might have been a 2;)
Sarah says
Sew me!
I am a 1 but my mother is a 7 and I’d love to give her the machine!
Sara says
SEW ME!

Sew ME!!

Caroline says
sew me!!!
i’m a 1 so i need some serious practice ;)
Amy says
Sew me! I don’t know how to use a sewing machine but I really want to learn.
Jenn says
SEW ME!
I’d have to rate myself a 1. Actually, I failed Home Ec. My wrap skirt didn’t wrap and my teacher proclaimed me a hopeless homemaker, gave me an F, and I had to repeat the entire class the following semester. True story. Fortunately my livelihood has not depended upon my sewing skills. But I love making my own home fashions. I have some mad skills with the iron on stitch witchery!
Andrea says
Sew Me! I’m a 1 and tired of borrowing my neighbors machine everytime I have a small project to complete. Would love to have one of my own.
Abby E says
SEW ME!
No question, I’m a 1. But I’m dying to learn!
franny b. says
sew me!
i’m a 4.5. my grandmother (bless her soul), who was blind in one eye but was a great seamstress, taught me how to sew when i was in elementary school. i can hold my own, but admittedly haven’t touched a sewing machine since college (about 8 yrs ago)!
kathleen says
SEW ME!
About a 7 with creative expression (not all seams are straight or even!)
Jorie says
SEW ME…the money! I would say I’m a 5.
Lynn P says
SEW ME! :) Sewing skills – nil, but a girl can learn! :)
Patricia says
SEW ME! I would say I’m a -1….I would love to be able to hem some pants without using staples!
Katie says
SEW ME!
I am a 2! I teach flying trapeze for a living and would love to learn how to make some super sweet sparkly costumes for our students.
carrie g says
SEW ME!!!! I haven’t had a working machine in years. Used to be a 5 but with this machine…oh the possibilities!!
Kristin W. says
SEW ME! I’m a hopeful 2 or 3 ;)
Deborah says
Sew me!
I would modestly have to say I’m a 9!! I’ve been sewing since I was around 6, and after a long break I’m sewing again and incorporating sewing into my collage work.
But–I have two old sewing machines and neither of them work properly! So I would put this lovely to good use. Immediately!!
Nicki says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 3…if you look at my projects with a squinty, blurry eye.
