***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Sew Me!
I’d rank myself at a 6. But I’d be a ten if I had a fancy machine!!
Jo says
SEW ME!
Im a 2. I know how to thread a machine, and thats about it!
Tricia says
SEW ME!
I would consider myself a 7.
Taryn says
SEW ME! Is there a -10? I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I really want one! I definitely think I could be in the positive pretty quickly!
Andrea says
SEW ME!!
I’m a 1 but hopefully this sewing machine could bump me up a few notches!!
Holly C says
SEW ME!
I have never used a sewing machine but I know how to use a needle and thread at least a little! I have been really wanting to learn to sew and this would make it all possible!
Amy G says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1, but it’s on my bucket list of things to learn
Georgia says
I’d say 6-7. Usually. But if I’m making clothes I’m a 2. Ha! :)
Catherine says
SEW ME! I have been wanting to learn how to sew so badly, just haven’t gotten my first machine yet :)
Heather says
Sew me!! I’m a three who really, really wants to be a ten!
Victoria says
SEW ME!!!
I’ll guess I’m similar to Sherry, in that I could probably make a wonky something, so 3!
Christina says
SEW ME!
I would rank myself a 7, but I know I still have lots to learn and I’m self taught so I’m not sure the experts would agree!
Sarah says
SEW ME! :) I don’t own a sewing machine.. And my sewing? A one! haha Would love to learn though. :)
Sarah says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a -1. I want to learn so bad, but as of right now I am terrible!
Dawn S says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 6-7. I can sew most things I set out to accomplish, but I tend to wing it as I go, making up patterns rather than following true instructions. I just did some iron-on with sewn-edges matching shirts for my boys for Christmas pictures that turned out pretty well, as well as a fabric birthday banner of pennants, some faux Roman shades for our house, etc.
I’m about to attempt a jersey knit (stretchy) skirt for myself over the holidays, which will be my first REAL test since I don’t know if my mom’s old 32 year old never-tuned-up machine I borrowed can handle today’s thick elastic thread. I just hope I don’t burn the house down with the old hot machine! Or throw it out the window in frustration… that happens nearly every time I need to sew a straight line on that thing!
Keri A says
SEW ME! – I would classify myself as a negative 2, while my home ec teacher from middle school would probably tell me I am giving myself too much credit. But, the older wiser me is ready to re-tackle sewing!
KB says
Too funny – I just added my very similar comment (and score!) Middle school Home Ec was kind of traumatic, wasn’t it?!
Mia says
Sew me!
I’m maybe a 3? Maybe a 2.5…
Cheryl Joy says
Like Ann, I forgot to say SEW ME! And, I totally typed principals… I meant principles, darn.
Sarah Hoerst says
“SEW ME!”
I’m about a 2- but I did get my “sewing’ badge in Girl Scouts so that should count for something right!
Lauren says
Sew me! I’d say I’m a 2… I could probably sew a wonky bag as well. But nothing fancy schmancy! Although this might motivate me to try!
Megan says
SEW ME! My husband and I are moving back into our first house (long story…) and I’d love to make new drapes and bedding! This machine would take this girl from a 1 to a 10!
Sarah says
SEW ME! I’m a 3 (and blaming any lack of progress on my old sewing machine – which just broke today).
Lindsey says
SEW ME!
I am a 1 at the moment but would love to practice and move on up!
Angela M says
SEW ME!
Im a 2! I’ve used no sew hem tape for curtains and I’ve hand stitched a few birds for a mobile! haha
liz says
SEW ME!! please. I sew well, probably a 7 with room to improve. check out my cute girly dresses (perfect for Clara!) and fun stuff (like clutches!) on my etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/KnitKnotGumdrop

sew me! i am like a 2 but i’ve been wanting to learn!
Leah says
SEW ME!
I’m probably around a 2 or 3 now. In high school I went through a crazy sewing phase with my late grandmother’s rickety machine. I had it on the vanity in my bedroom and would stay up late sewing stitches into whatever I could find! I even made a halter-top dress, using a pattern, but it was REALLY tough, and it never did fit me – oh well!
A friend has recently gotten into sewing and is making her own simple skirts with cute polka-dot fabrics, and I am SEW jealous! (badum-cha)
Joelle says
SEW ME! I would say about a 4 – I can quilt well have no experience with clothes and such.
Bridget says
SEW ME! I’m thinking I’m about a 7- I’ve figured out how to sew decently(even made a few things- a dress or two in high school, some pillowcases, a bunch of aprons, matching shirts for cousins, etc). I have so much to learn though! I want to be a master one day!
Crystal says
SEW ME!
No sew Seam Tape is my bestfriend :)
Colleen says
SEW ME!
Definitely a 1, lol.
Brea Testa says
SEW ME! I would rank myself as a 2. I was successful in middle school Home Economics class but haven’t touched a sewing machine since!
Mindi says
SEW ME! A ONE through and through! Would love to learn though!
Cate Fernandez says
SEW ME! In my mind I think I am about a 6, but in reality I think I am more like a 3 or 4. I love to sew and create things, but my machine and I don’t always get a long. The “easiest to use machine” might be just the thing I need to make me a real 6!
Jenna says
SEW ME!
The last time I used my mom’s sewing machine I was at about a 3… I’m curious to see where I am at since then :-)
Allyson says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 5? I just learned to sew this year so I’m still a beginner but I’ve made some fabulous clothes for my kids and have done a bunch of stuff around the house so I’m definitely proficient.
Sarah says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 3 at best. I know how to sew a straight line, but I don’t know how to do anything fanicer than that, although I would love to learn!
Ellen says
SEW ME! I’m about a 4 or 5 with five granddaughters (so far), I could really use this! I have a Singer from about 1970. For real.
Robin says
SEW ME!! I’m a 1 for sure, but want to learn!
Heather says
SEW ME! I’d rank myself a solid 3 on the sewing scale. Pillow covers, curtains, and even the occasional purse make it to ‘acceptable looking’ stage, but I want to learn and make so many more pretty things for my home!
Bryanna says
SEW ME
I would rank myself at probably a 2… 5 if my grandma is helping me. Which she usually is. She says I’m good at it, but really, she’s good at helping me! I have an ancient machine right now I attempt to use, I’d love a modern one to learn on so that maybe I can be a 5 on my own.
Lynn T. says
SEW ME!! I’m a total beginner, but I’ve been dying to learn, and would love a reliable machine!
andrea @ my kinda perfect says
SEW ME!
if sherry’s a 3, i’m definitely a 1 or a 2. i haven’t sewed much since junior high’s home economics…but i think i could get the hang of it. especially with a simple machine like that! =)
Bethany says
SEW ME!!
Not a beginner but definitely not great – maybe a 4. Just self-taught and I never give up until it looks like what I’m thinking it should look like.
lindsay says
SEW ME!
I used to be a 3, but I’m so out of practice from not having a reliable machine that I’m about a 1 these days.
Tracey Bartula says
Sew me! I am a 2-3…I have mastered pillow cases and curtains, but things start getting a little to cray cray with zippers and elastic!!
Amanda says
SEW ME! I’d say i’m 4-ish. I’ve made some blankets and pillows in my time, but I wouldnt go as far as to call them good. Well, maybe I would. More like good from a distance, but up close you can tell I can’t sew in a straight line to save my life! I sure do have fun trying though :)
Jamie Hadady says
SEW ME! I’m about a 2 so this machine would be perfect for me!
Natalie says
SEW ME!
I’d say, I am a 4 or 5. I can watch a youtube video or follow instructions like a pro. I don’t think I could make anything up on a whim though.
