***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

I’m probably a 7 but my daughter is a 2 and I’d give the machine to her. She wants to be a 10!
Frances Jerman says
SEW ME!
I am definitely an amateur 2 with a sewing machine, I’ve used one a couple times (to make pillowcases) but always wanted to learn. I’m pretty good with my hand stitches though..
Jen says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 1…there’s lots more for me to learn.
Kathy says
SEW ME! I used to sew everything, all the time, but it’s been years–I’d like to get back to it.
Jenny says
SEW ME!
I rank myself a 9 on the scale. I actually just logged on to search for your fabric headboard for a drapery project haha!

Natalie says
SEW ME!!!

Chris says
SEW ‘ME I am a two but willing to learn!
shelley says
SEW ME. I’m probably around an 8, love to sew but currently have a REALLY misbehaved machine!
Megan says
This is so hard for me to judge. I would probably say a 3, but I wish it was a zero. I had to take a sewing class in college, and it was by far the most miserable class of my life. I sewed a pair of dress pants, a collared shirt, and a tote bag. However, I tell myself I have no desire to sew again, but my then I find cute projects for my kids and I want to sew.
Anne says
SEW ME!
I would say a 2 or 3. I have sewn, and some of it turned out decent. I made the curtains for my son’s nursery and my kitchen windows, that was over 13 years ago. I don’t have a sewing machine now, but have been thinking about investing in one. My 9 year old daughter would love to learn.
Amanda says

SEW ME!
I think I’m a 5. I took a couple of sewing classes in college. I have an ancient singer my grandmother gave me inside a table.
Allison says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 4 on that sewing scale – I’d love to be a 8 or 9 and this would certainly help! :)
Brittany says
SEW ME! I would saw I’m about a 3/4 as well but I’m learning! I made many pillows as a child for fun. I’ve always loved crafty things. I’ve only used a sewing machine a few times but would love to learn make more things.

SEW me!!!
1. :| 10 if I win, though. hahaha

Sew Me!
I’m like a -10 but I’d like to learn…Pinterest gives me a lot of false hope that I’m a secret sewing whiz haha
Carter says
SEW ME…a 1…i can sew buttons back onto shirts
Aimee says
SEW ME!
I’d put myself at a 5 or 6. Winging it is my main sewing method. I’m not a stickler for straight lines or perfet edges, but I’ve been able to pull off recovering a chair without people knowing it wasn’t a professional job!
Andrea says
SEW ME!!
I am definately a 1but have recently been inspired by a handful of blogs ( including yours, of course) to pick it up and machine would make that ALL the easier! :-)
Katy K says
Sew me, plaese! I’m a solid 4…
Jenn says
Sew Me:
I’m at a 10 confidence wise…skill wise, I am a 4!
Liz Patterson says
Sew me! I’m about a 2 or 3. When I was a child, I would sew squares for doll quits with my grandmother, but I haven’t done much sewing except for buttons in a while. I would love a sewing machine to make pillows, shades (and hem some pants, too)!
Sarah says
SEW ME! I would say I am around a 2. I can hem a pair of pants in a pinch or throw together some curtains, but I would love to learn how to make my own patterns and sew my own clothing!
Alli says
SEW ME!
I’d guess a 2 or a 3, just because I can kinda wing it but I don’t actually know what I’m doing.
Lauren I. says
SEW ME!! I’ve not sewn since I was a kid and my mom helped me make a molecule by sewing together two pieces of plastic in various places representing the innards of said molecule. (At least that’s what I think it was …?) We filled in the different areas with various colored hair gel to show the various insides. It was pretty bizarre. This gal SEW needs new sewing machine memories!!!
Deanna says
SEW ME!
I would say that I’m a … 5, because I finally, finally learned how to sew a straight line!!
Susan says
SEW ME! I’m just above a beginner.
Roxie says
SEW ME!
I’d give my self a 1.5. Straight lines. It’s that or give a needle and thread.
Kirsten says
Sew me!
I’m probably about a 3 on the sewing skillz meter. I wish I could sew a lot better than I actually can, mostly so I don’t embarrass my grandmother, whose professional seamstress mother taught her how to sew.
Sara Beresford says
SEW ME!!!!
I would rate myself a 7. If it has directions, I can make it!
Jeannie says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a 1. I made a dress in Home Economics for our school fashion show. I had to pin the whole thing for it to stay together. I haven’t sewn since. That was over 20 years ago.
Jennifer says
SEW ME!!!!
DEFINITELY A ONE!
allison says
Sew me. Maybe a 1.5?
Maggie says
SEW ME! I’m a one without my grandma’s help!

SEW ME!
3, maybe 4 sounds about right. I got a job teaching art at a small studio this year and a few weeks in my boss says “oh and we are doing a sewing project next week.” I didn’t have a clue how to sew, but thankfully she taught me in time for the project and I have benefitted from those skills ever since!
Bethany says
SEW ME!
I made some things in high school, but haven’t sewn anything in years, so I’m probably a 1. :P
Becky says
Sew me! I got kicked out of home ec in 8th grade for breaking the sewing machine. I think I’m ready to try agan 20 years later!
Erica says
Sew me! I’m a 10
Tracy says
SEW ME-I’m a 3 I think. But more because I can wield a needled and sew by hand than any skills on a machine. I sure would love to learn though!
Amy says
Sew me please!
I’m probably a 4, but without a proper machine I have resorted to fabric glue!
Jackie B says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a 1! But I aspire to be a 2 in 2013!
Anna says
SEW ME! I am probably only a 2 on the sewing scale, but want to learn! I have never owned a sewing machine, and have only used one when working on projects with my mom or mother-in-law. I would LOVE one of my own, especially the easiest to use!!
Andrea says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1, but have been wanting to learn for some time now!
Sarah says
SEW ME! I’m a 0.1!! However, My grandmother is a pro and I have been wanting to take some lessons from her! What a better way to start than with my own new machine!!!
