***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME! I’d say I’m a 3 or 4…I can sew straight lines and make things that don’t have to fit on a body.
Judy says
Sew me! I would maybe be a 3, my husband once laughed at me as I was trying to sew a duvet cover :)
Audrey Moore says

Michelle says
Sew me! I’m a solid 5….

ahren foster says
SEW ME! I am around a 2 with sewing, but its something I am so excited about learning more about. My grandmother is an expert…she has lots to teach me
Andrea says
SEW ME! Can I be a -1, maybe? would love to learn, and am fascinated by textiles…
Megan V. says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2. My bag would probably be wonkier than Sherry’s. I would love to have a machine to help me out!!!
Jennifer says
SEW ME!!!
I live firmly at a 0-1…but this machine would fix that! Ha!
Ben Jensen says
SEW ME!
I am a 1, though through watching my mom sew for years and years, I think it is in my blood. I use quilt imagery and patterns in my other artwork.
Jenn says
Ha ha!~ I just wanted to say that I was reading the older post from last week with the hint… and yes, I already saw this and knew it was a sewing machine give away, but was trying to use the visuals (I am a visual learner…) and pathetically came up with:
Song eye robot.
Yup… Thought it was funny.
Andrea Hinchcliff says
Sew Me! I would say that right now I am a one, but I have been intending on learning to sew for the last couple of years. So if I actually learned, I am confident that number would go up.
Harmony says
SEW ME! I’m gonna go ahead and give myself a 10! I’ve been sewing since I was about 12 and i used to work as a seamstress in a bridal shop Time is much harder to come by than skill in this case;) thanks for the giveaway!!
Stefani says
Sew me!
I’m probably about a 3. Maybe a 4. I’ve sewn some Halloween costumes and pillow covers but they were far from perfect if you look close.
taryn lee says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1 as far as machines are concerned, but I hand-sew a few things here and there (some Christmas ornaments, some Halloween costumes for the kids) and would love to make my way up to 10!
Julie F says
SEW ME!
Kelly says
SEW ME!!
I’d say I’m probably a 3 or 4…but trying to get better!
April says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 5 as I can sew following a pattern as well as make up my own costume or apron from “scratch” as in tracing out something similar. I’ve also done my own hemming, mending and curtain sewing. I would love to learn how to quilt and sew more creative projects!!!
Laura says
SEW ME! I’m still learning but have made some clothes for my daughter on my mom’s antique machine. Would love a new one for Christmas!
Liz F. says
Sew me!
I am a three, with terrible confidance issues. But I want my daughter to learn, so I need to improve my skills!
naomi says
SEW ME!
I am a 4-5. I love to sew by hand. Kind of useless with a machine but I am sure I can learn.
Vanessa says
SEW ME!
I haven’t used a sewing machine since Home Ec but I’ve been dying to get my hands on a sewing machine to learn again!
Charisma says
SEW ME! Please, please, please, please! Thanks to a bachelor’s degree in clothing and textiles I think I could fairly give myself a 5, but as life would have it I do not own a sewing machine and have indefinitely borrowed a mini (read: kid-sized) sewing machine that is my sister-in-law’s from her childhood. I could really use an adult-sized one to call my own to spark the passion I had for sewing once more!
Erika W says
SEW ME!
Amanda says
SEW ME!! I might be a 5, I have natural sewing skills.. but I have the hardest time understanding patterns. ps. I currently use my mother-in-law’s 41-year-old hand-me-down sewing machine (would you like any more hyphens??).. an upgrade is definitely due!
Richard says
Sew me! I am a 1, really .05, but I have always wanted to learn to sew.
Marija says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 3 too :).
Angela says
SEW ME!
I’ve been learning over the past year, and I think I moved from a 3 to a 4.5
katie says
SEW ME! i’m a zero…a sad, sad, zero.
Jackie says
SEW ME!!!
I rank about a 3 or so, know a little but not very much
Gesci says
SEW ME!
I’m maybe a 3 or 4? I can do basic sewing, but usually only sew covers for our dogs’ beds and coats for our constantly-shivering Boxer cross.
Sara says
SEW ME!
I do not sew yet, but I really really want to learn how to sew!!
Heather Joly says
SEW ME!!!
I would say I am at about a 3, like Sherry. :)
Rae Ann says
SEW ME! I give myself about an 8 on the sewing continuum. Mostly because I taught myself how to do it. The up side is that I can sew anything: clothes; costumes; curtains; slip covers. The down side is that I can’t follow a commercial pattern.
Rebecca says
“SEW ME!”
I’m about a 3. It’s been a while but I think I can sew more than just a straight line.
Erin says
Sew me!
I’m maybe a 6 or 7 but I have a terrible old squeaky machine. I make a lot of stuff but it takes forever because I have to baby my machine along. But I stick with it because the end result is worth it. I wouldn’t say no to a new machine though!
Kristen says
SEW ME!!! I need a new sewing for my family. LOVe your blog!
Sarah B says
SEW ME!
I would rate myself a 5. I have a lot of sewing hours under my belt but still manage to produce slightly wonky finished products :o)
JillH says
Sew me! I’m probably a 4 or 5…but more importantly I have fun doing it!
Kari says
SEW ME!
Maybe a 4.5 in progress. I can do some basic skills and am attempting some finer ones; but it’s a learning process right?!
Nicole Marie says
SEW ME! I would say I’m about a 7-8. I made my prom dress in high school and made 6 dresses (with matching jackets) for a friend’s wedding. But I haven’t sewn ANYTHING in over 10 years! I would love to get back at it!
Kay says
SEW ME! Love to sew … been at it since I was 8 or 9 and I would rate my skills about a 7 – there are a few things I haven’t tried yet! I taught high school sewing for 9 years and loved it :)
Chelsea says
“SEW ME!” I’d consider myself a 3. I can sew straight lines. And I know what 80% of the features on my 30-year-old hand me down sewing machine can do.
Rebecca says
SEW ME!
When my concentration is working, which isn’t always, I am maybe a 5, but I still have A LOT to learn!!!
Bridgett27 says
SEW ME!!! I can sew just a little by hand but I’m clueless when it comes to a sewing machine! Its on my Christmas list!!!
Olga says
SEW ME!
I’d like to think I’m around 4))) I can make some pretty straight lines)))
Lauren says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 3, I can make a bag or pillowcase it just might look like it belonged to Dr. Suess :)
Janet says
SEW ME: I’m closer to a 3 like Sherry. I do have a desire to move up in the ranks though.
Mary S says
SEW ME Please! My husband knows how to use a sewing machine better than me! I am probably a 1. I haven’t used a sewing machine since I got a C+ on my junior high pillowcase. I would love to learn.
Adrienne says
SEW ME!! I am definitely a 1….but would love to win this for my mom who is a 10 and has been sewing on the same machine for the last 40 years!!
