***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Hillary says
Sew me!! I’m just starting out. My sweet aunt is
Letting me borrow her machine for now. It’s hard and annoying but very satisfying! :) thank you for this giveaway:)
Kristy says
Sew me…I’d put myself at about a 6. I can’t sew without a pattern (yet) and I certainly don’t have the confidence to deviate at all from the ones I do follow. That said, all projects “sew” far have been successful and I’ve even taught a few others the basics.
Marlee says
SEW ME!!!
I’d say i’m a 3ish? I took a sewing elective in an arts camp in elementary school–that counts for something right? ha!
Fairfax Avenue says
SEW ME!
I’m a good mender and a wannabe sewer. Give me a 4!
Jessica says
Sew me! I may be a 3, or even a 4 on a good day :)
Sara R says
Sew me! I I would give myself a 4, I was pretty good years ago, but with a baby in the house the machine gets put on a back burner.
Heidi says
SEW ME!
My sewing skills are about a 5? I’ve never sewed anything from a pattern, don’t really know fabrics or types of hems or stitches well but I make flannel baby blankets w/ satin or ric-rac trim – and between my sister & I we figured out how to make a removable cover for the nursery glider.
Alice Ballerscheff says
Sew me, I am a pretty good sewer, but certainly not perfect. I did make my wedding dress, 29 years ago.
Lee says
Sew me! I am a 2. I would love to learn to be better!
April says
Sew Me!
My mother is actually a seamstress professionally. Sadly, I inherited none of her skills. I can’t cut or sew a straight line to save my life. I’m definitely a 1.
Emmy says
Sew Me!
I’m probably around a 4 or so. I make stuffed animals most often!
Clarissa says
SEW ME!!
I’ll say 1. I made a pair of sweat pants in high school…many years ago and somehow one leg ended up being longer than the other! haha :)
Sarah S. says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 7. I’m pretty comfortable with my sewing machine, but that may just because it can only sew a straight stitch! I’ve made several reuseable shopping bags and made new stockings for my kiddos this year and they turned out pretty great. I’d love to have a machine with more brains though!
Karen604 says

I’m about a 7 on the scale, just a bit rusty.
Meghan Brown says
Definitely a 1–but I’ve been meaning to take a sewing class for a LONG time. Winning this machine would give me a kick in the pants to do it!
Lori Beth Clark says
Sew Me!
I am a 5, working on becoming a 6 or 7. I can whip up a baby quilt for a shower or a skirt for my two year old girl. My current Singer is aging quickly and would love to retire.
Nicky Tennent says
SEW ME! I’m absolutely hopeless at sewing – so maybe a 1 like John – but I’m sure a sewing machine would help rather than the simple needle and thread I have going at the moment!
Nika says
Sew me! Probably a 3. More patience would help with that.
Chris Love says
SEW ME
I’m probably a two.
Laura B says
Sew me!!
I’m a quasi solid 5, I’m fantastic at curtains, can do a mean pillow, but get into trouble with anything with curves. Definitely working on it!
Jen says
SEW ME!
In the 1-2 range but hoping to improve!
Nicole Naik says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1 or maybe a 0. The embarrassing thing is that my husband is likely a 5.. Sigh.
Juliana says
Sew me!
I am probably a rusty 5… I used to sew pretty well but it’s been a few years… This would definitely get me back into it!
Andreea says
Sew me! Never sewn before, but it’s one of those life skills I hope to one day conquer!
Christa says
SEW ME! Yeah, I’m probably a 1 too.
Stephanie M says
SEW ME!!
A 3-ish… But, I was in sewing 4-H as a young girl and won a blue ribbon in the Coos County fair for a snazzy little reversible vest I made! All skills were lost by the time I hit 16.
Rachel Palmer says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 4 or 5. I have sewn blankets and halloween costumes.
Jumana says

SEW ME!
I’m a solid 2. I can turn the machine on, I can load the bobbin, I can even produce stitches.
Hiromi says
SEW ME!!!
I’m probably a 4. My mother used to sew us matching cloths when I was a child, so I’ve picked up some skills from her.
Natalie says

I’d say I’m about a 4 or 5..
Barathi says
SEW ME!

Erica renee says
Sew me!! Probably a 4… Not too bad but not too good ;)
Kristin says
SEW ME! I have two hand me down machines and neither one works great. I am about a 5 and have been hesitant to start any new projects because I get so fed up with my machines!
Lindsey K says
Sew me! I’m probably a 1, but eager to learn!!!
Meg Ray says
SEW ME! Yup…I’m a 2 if it’s something like curtains, but def at a 1 for anything requiring facing. Facing…can’t help myself from thinking of the movie “Face Off,” imagining that it’s exactly how my fabric will rip off.
Kristin says
SEW ME! officially never used a sewing machine but would like to learn!
Callie says
Sew me! I’m maybe a 6.5, although I’m better at hand sewing. But right now my sewing machine timing is messed up and I’m too cheap to shell out the money to get it fixed…ack!
Ali says
Sew me! Definitely a 1…
Hannah S. says
SEW ME!
I would say I am a 3. I need to take more time to practice but my machine always gives me problems! Maybe a new one would solve that! (:
Sarah G says
SEW ME!!
I’m probably around a 3 or 4. I’ve sewn a few curtains, modified the occasional shirt, and made some basic renaissance garb. I’m currently working on a gift for someone that requires doing some small machine quilting work, and I’m definitely learning a lot from that! :)
