***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Sew me! I’m a 1.5. I sewed a pillow when I was in the 8th grade, but I haven’t touched a machine since. I was just thinking yesterday that I’d like to learn to sew and will make it a goal for my 29th year (my birthday is Thursday!).
CMA says
SEW ME!
Sadly, only a 2.
I’m not that bright when it comes to sewing. I do know how to hem and replace buttons, though.(Not unlike a trained monkey.) Did someone say “Shakespeare” and “typewriters” ?
Alicia @ The Creative Vault says
SEW ME! I’d put myself at a 6 or a lucky (fingers crossed) 7. :)
Krista says
SEW ME!
I am about a 5. If only I had time to sew more…
Sarah says
SEW ME!
I guess I’d say I’m 2-3? My sewing machine has been broken for a while now, but with a functioning machine I might be better : )
Stacia Reagan says
SEW ME . . . definately a 1.
Stevie Short says
SEW ME!
Are we including negative numbers?
Stacy says
SEW ME! And I’m definitely a 1…..
Sunita Thomas says
SEW ME!!!
I am a 3 like Sherry – can do some basics on my mom’s 1948 singer sewing machine. I have been yearning to get a new machine in exchange but just haven’t managed yet. This would be such a welcome gift for christmas – if I make the cut that is. I dont make it when the odds are 1 in 2, this one is 1 in 10,000 :) . In any case my fingures are crossed.
Caitlin says
SEW ME!
I’d rate myself as a 6. I can do basic stuff and took an advance sewing class in high school but I’m *that* great.
Jack Stringfield says
SEW ME!
Jill says
Sew Me! My grandma jean claire taught me how to sew because lets just say it skips a generation. Thanks to her I would say I am a 6 at clothes and a 9.8 at curtains and slipcovers! I am still using her old singer she got “new” 30 years ago and we share it between my cousins and myself.
Lee says
SEW ME! I’d give myself a 2… I can sew on buttons!
Elizabeth says
SEW ME!
2 maybe 3 :)
Lorraine Fischer says
This sewing machine would be “sew me”! I would have to be a 0 on your user scale. I wouldn’t know where to begin. But the thing is, I want to learn how to sew very badly. But I can’t afford any kind of sewing machine right now. My family and I could really use your help on this one!
Jen says
sew me.
I want to sew please.
Kelsey R says
SEW ME!
I would say a three. I’ve sewn a number of pillows before, but they always turn out kinda wonky…lol
Abby Walters says
SEW ME! I want a sewing machine so badly! I am probably about a 3 or 4 skill scale wise, but have never owned my own machine. I’m a poor student and have taken to making people’s gifts for the holidays by hand…a sewing machine would be a dream come true!
Emily says
Sew me! I am probably in 5 or 6 range but desperately want to be better. I have been wanting to get a sewing machine for years. Every time I see any sewing books I feel like I should be able to make it too! So having a sewing machine would be so much fun. (I really wanted to make a “sew” pun there) I shall be keeping my needle and thread crossed that I win!
Andrea says
SEW ME!
I’m a solid 3 and 1/2. Enough to sew a couple throw pillows for my couch and burp clothes for my niece but still be completely confused by an actual pattern. Can’t wait until one day when I can have a craft/sewing room in my house so I can keep learning though!
Colleen says
SEW ME! I’m a beginner and definitely a 0!
Becky says
SEW ME!
I am a beginning sewer and I’m loving it!
Crystal Anderson says
Sew me!
I’m definitely in the 3-4 range . My lines are crooked but you get the idea…
Inguna says
SEW ME!
I guess I am a 4-5, can (and have done) many things from baby bed linens to pretty Christmas-tree dress for my daughters kindergarten play. But can’t do that with closed eyes, still make many mistakes.
Kristen says
SEW ME!
I am a 1, but my mom is a 10. I need to sit down with her one of these days and learn!
Danielle says
SEW ME!! I am a 4 and just picked up sewing last holiday season. I love making quilted throws!
Vanessa Loflin says
SEW ME
I am definitely a big FAT one! But I really want to become a stable five! Haha, I am having our first child in March and we are cloth diapering. I’ve been scoping out machines since there is all kinds of cool baby stuff you can make! Cloth diapers, wipes, cute little outfits, fun stuff for the nursery..!!! Need I go on? Clearly I have sewing machine envy! Love you guys and hope you have a great Christmas!!
Joy says
SEW ME! I’m what you would call a pre-beginner. I’ve watched people sew. I would love to learn!
Tammy H says
Sew Me!
So, I’m probably similiar to Sherry in that I’d rank myself somewhere around a 3. Love creative outlets though!
Buffy says
SEW ME!
Definitely a 4- I have a quilt for my daughter all cut out but don’t have a machine to sew it together yet!
Brooke says
SEW ME!
I am right in the middle of the continuum at a 5. Perhaps with this machine I could improve to a 7 or 8.
Emily says
SEW ME!! I’m a 2 or a 3 with most projects, but have hopes of being a 10 someday!
Natalie says
SEW ME!
My skills are a 1 (is 0 not an option haha?) I would like to learn though!
EvelynB says
SEE ME!
I think maybe I am a 4. I have attempted sewing slip covers for our small couch but it’s one of those projects where you hope the guests don’t flip the cushion because it would reveal all of the lovely imperfections of an amateur seamstress. Thanks for the fun giveaway!
Michelle says
SEW ME! I’ve made baby shoes and a few skirts and lots and lots of pillow cases, so… 4?
julia says
SEW ME!
Been sewing forever–9.
Hilary says
SEW ME! I’ll say I’m a 7- I’ve made quilts and small items like pincushions, but have never sewn a bag or clothing.
Carol Liaw says
SEW ME!
around a 7
Kimberly says
SEW ME! I think I’m a solid 5. Sewed some of my clothes in high school, one quilt top, and lots of cloth diapers/baby clothes, but I’ve never done zippers or button holes. And everything but the simplest designs always results in some special vocabulary.
rita says
sew me around a 4 but if you could see the machine that i use here in my 3rd world country-you would give me a pity machine! :)
laura b says
sew me! I’d say I am a 6, I can sew some awesome stuff, but never have the time to finish most sewing projects!
Dusty H says
SEW ME! 2 with a good machine because mine is crap.
Sarah says
Sew me!
I am probably a 4 or a 5; everything that I’ve made has turned out decent, but I don’t sew often.
Tiffany says
SEW ME!!
I am about a 5 or 6…I used to make my own dresses when I was in high school, now I just use it for random projects around the house. I would probably do it more if I had a nice machine like this one ;)
Sam says
SEW ME!
I would probably rank myself as similar to Sherry about a 3. I’ve made a few pillows and can usually sew in a straightish line :) I usually borrow my moms machine but I would to have my own! Thanks for the international giveaway!(I’m one of your neighbours up north :)
Jill says
Sew Me!
I am for sure a solid 5. I was always about a 3 until I was talked into making my son a gorilla suit for halloween last year. It actually looked like a gorilla suit. That bumped me up to a 5 fo sho!
wilma says
SEW ME!
I’m a very poor sewer–maybe a 1.5. I made an apron once…But, you see, my mother would be a 100 out of 10. She can make anything–she made my wedding dress, her’s, my sister’s, she’s made suits, coats, anything, and has often even made her own patterns! And to think, I have not learned from her, and now I live on the other side of the country (Canada) from her. *sigh*
charlotte says
SEW ME!
I’m ok…my curtains come out great! Lol
amanda giddens says

I’m a 1! But am a motivated learner and hope to make it to a 2 and beyond this next year! :D
