***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

I need all he help I can get!
Kat says
I’m proud to say I’ve gone from a 1 to 5 or 6 in the past year!
Lea says
SEW ME. I’m a decent 5 I would say. Pillows, curtains, basic clothing and sewing on Greek letters to anything that moves was my jam in college.
Lauren says
SEW ME!! I’m a 4, I think? We’re renovating and I need to make curtains — that nifty Singer One will come in SEW handy! Thank you VERY much for persuading Singer to make the giveaway international, hailing from Cape Town I always shed a tear when your awesome giveaways are out of my reach.

Sew Me!
Much to my mother’s sorrow, I didn’t inherit the sewing gene…I’d give myself a 2. But I get great ideas and think that I can pull them off!
BRooke says
SEW ME!! I seriously don’t know anything about it! I would love to try!!
Nicole S. says
Sew me! I might be a 2 because I can make a simple repair with a needle and thread, but it doesn’t look pretty!
Teena says
SEW ME!! I’d rank my sewing skills a 2. Got the hang of sewing by hand but lost with a machine. Always willing to practice and learn though!!!
Betsy K. says
SEW ME
As long as I have my confidence (my husband or mom) standing behind me while I sew along, I am about a 3. However, my husband knows his way around a sewing machine and is probably a 6. He’s made far more things than I have on the machine these past few years…
julie says
Sew me! I’m probably a 4, but this machine would get me to a 10!
Terry says
I am probably a 5. So just average. I started sewing before I was 10. Made lots of my own clothing but never advanced to making suits or tailored blouses. Make mostly household items now.
Ashley says
2….but i want to learn!! a sewing machine is on my to-buy list…but always gets bumped by stupid things like rent and car insurance..laaaame.
Danielle says
Sew me! And I have 0 experience on a sewing machine, so that’s what I’ll rate myself! :)
Najla says
SEW ME!
I would be a 1 on that scale!
lynne says
SEW ME!
i think i am maybe a… 6? would love a machine with such fancy options… mine currently does a straight stitch. but it does it really well!
Tawna says
SEW ME! I’d say a 4. I made my pageant dress back in the day and would SEW love to get the creative juices flowing again!
Jessica m. says
Sew me! I’m probably a 2-ish, but sometimes I surprise myself…
Paula says
SEW ME! I am probably about a 5! But I’m out of practice…
Deb S. says
SEW ME! Considering i taught home ec. for a while I’d say I’m an 8!
Paola says
SEW ME! I say i am like a 6 not too bad and not so good either but my dear mom is a 10 she is amazing at it. If I win it will be a great Christmas present for her.

SEW ME!
I’m thinking I’m in the “wonky bag” range ;) For sure not much beyond the 3 category. ;) Would love to become a proficient seamstress – or just aim for being able to create the “basics” well, doesn’t even need to be anything fancy. ;)
Jacqueline says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2… Sad but true. I could use a little practice!
KarenH. says
SEW ME!!!! I’m about a 7. I’ve been sewing for years, but mostly simple things–quilts with basic piecing, jammies for the kid and now grand kid, curtains and other home decor stuff. My oldest Singer (a model 12) was made in 1874.
Tami H. says
SEW ME!
I’m a scant 1. I can scarcely remember learning a wee tiny bit in the 7th grade…and I’m 31! But with a 10 week old and a 21 month old I sure would love to learn to sew some projects for them! This would be AMAZING!
soo says
sew me! beginner for sure… 1
Sherri says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m an 8-9ish. I used to sew clothes, but now do mostly home decor sewing, along with the annual halloween costumes.
Diane Y says
SEW ME!
3 or 4 sounds about right. I know just enough to make me think I can figure anything out, but not enough to know that the project I want to do is actually harder than it looks.
Veronica C says
sew me! im a …2. i can maybe sew a straight line.
Linnae says
SEW ME!
I would rate myself around a 5 or 6; an advanced beginner. I can make the basic stuff, but still have projects that I get so frustrated with I have to just walk away for awhile and let off some steam.
Christine says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1…but I would love a machine to learn!!!!
Mis says
Sew me! I am a 5. Thanks!
Audrey says
Sew Me!
Ummm. I guess I’d rate myself a 5. I’m not amazing, but I can hold my own.
Kelsey says
See me! I’m about a 3 now but with this machine I could bump it up to an 8
Eileen Catherine says
SEW ME! Definitely a 1. I could sew a button on, that’s about it…
bethblntn says
SEW ME!
I’m somewhat good with a sewing machine, especially being that I mostly taught myself and “wing it” half the time on things I don’t have a guide for (like the stockings I just made). I’m no expert and my stitches are RARELY straight but hey, I can make a pillow, stockings, curtains, and little baggies, so what more could a DIYer want? :P
Cigdem says
SEW ME! I think I’m about a 5. I’ love to sew for my daughter. i can definitely read a pattern, but there is always an undo process :))
Gayle says
SEW ME!!
I’d rank myself at 9, but only because my hands don’t work as well as they used to. I’ve been sewing since I was a teen and that was QUITE a few years ago. ;)
Jen l says
Sew me!!! I’d say I’m a 3. I have a bit of my grandma’s sewing skills deep in me somewhere!
Sarah says
SEW ME! I think I’m probably around a 5 … 6 on a good day!
Brooke says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 7-8… I took a sewing class when I was a kid and for a good while made a lot of my own clothes when I was in my early 20’s. I have done as much sewing in the last few years but I’ve found myself pulling out my hand me down machine rectly for a slew of babies! The machine I have belonged to my Granny and I received it probably 15 years ago. At that time it was probably 10 years old or more. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was as old as I am ;)
Steph says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 2. I can sew a straight line. Could probably sew some pillows, heck this machine may even help me do it ;)
Beth_N says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2 or 3.
Mariam.A says
SEW ME !!
In sewing skills I am near 2. :-)
KarenL says
SEW ME!
I started sewing in 6th grade. 45 years later I feel I can sew anything I want to sew but give myself an 8 cause it doesn’t mean I am good!
Adrianne Visnofsky says
SEW ME please!!
I’m totally a 1.5…straight lines are my thing!
Fatima says
SEW ME! I’m around a 2. I can get the thread in the needle and sew semi-straight. Lol. Need a machine so I can practice and become a 10. :-)
Julie says
SEW ME!
I’m a 5 or 6. I make a lot of my toddler’s clothes but haven’t delved too far into making my own. That’s coming next. I’ve currently hijacked my mom’s sewing machine but she might like it back someday so this would be wonderful!
Yolanda Tran says
SEW ME!
Probably a 9 :)
Katherine says
SEW ME!
I’m with Sherry in the 3 club (with seam ripper on hand) …so maybe more of a two :) I would love to learn more sewing skills on a machine but the 1980’s versions I tried to learn on years ago couldn’t help me make a “wonky bag” if I wanted to-HA!
Dorette says
Sew me!
I’m probably somewhere between a 3 and a 4. Can sew a straight line and follow a (very) easy pattern, but lack the confidence to attempt larger projects.
