***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
I’m out of practice so probably a Sherry at 3… but my mum has always been a spectacular sewer and said that I could be too. Just give me more time to play (and the right machine) and I’m sure I could make it higher up the ranks!
Veronica says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 6, depending on what it is. A bag: more like a 3 ;)

Oh my God! I cant believe is this giveaway real?! When my mother graduated from university and started working back in 1974, she bought herself a Singer with her first salary. That babe is still with my mom. And I’ve always dreamt of having a Singer of my own.
I borrowed another machine from my aunt, which sorta is not working and sitting on top of my sideboard.

I’m probably a 3 too. I used to be a 4 or possibly even a 5 but it’s a few years since I did a sewing class and I’ve forgotten a lot! Love the blog by the way and good on Singer for doing a world-wide giveaway (I’m in the UK).
Sandra says
Sorry I forgot the top line – please ignore this comment :-)

I’m a 1, would love to get some practise!

I would say that I am a 7. I love to sew on my old sewing machine.

SEW ME… I’d say I’m a but my last project looked more like a seven – it was supposed to be a rectangular quilt that literally finished up looking like a figure 7!! Clearly I need all the practice I can possibly get with the best tools available!

Sew me!!!!
I’ve been trying to teach myself to sew to make bunting & whatnot for our wedding (13 April 13). I think I’m a 3-4 now, depending on the day!
Megan says
SEW ME!
My sewing skills definitely depend on my mood which effects my patience! Probably average about a 4 though, so not great :)

My sewing machine just broke down. And a new one would be perfect!

SEW ME!
I just blew the dust off my Mam’s old Bother sewing machine on Saturday, whipped my Home Economics skills into gear and took up some Ikea curtains plus made cushion covers with the leftover materials. A few dodgy seams later I would give myself a 4.
Paraskevi says

I am around 2 but my skills in hand sewing 3,5 at least.

I’ve been teaching myself to sew for year, so I would say I’m around a 4-5, but I could be better if I had a sweing machine. During our last move, my sewing machine that I have had since college met a sad and tragic end… my darling hubby backed over it with the moving van. It was so sad. :'( Although I do believe my hubby was more devistated than I was at the time.

I’m a 4 I think…. I can sew things that people are impressed with… as long as they don’t look to close!! LOL… (and hooray for the international giveaway!! glad you guys could wrangle it this time :))

SEW ME!
A total zero. But one that owns a number of sewing books and can’t wait to actually get going on the sewing front!
Alex says
SEW ME! I had to give up my beloved sewing machine when I moved overseas. I’m now moving back home and buying a place of my own so I am DESPERATE for a sewing machine to fix curtains and cushions.
Alex says
Oh, and definitely a 3/4 right now, if only I had a shiny new machine and some patience!
Pam Hipp says
SEW ME!
Usually an 8 when I’m imagining a project, a 6 when I’m prepping for it, and a 4 when I’m actually implementing it. Ha.
Leslie says
Sew me!
I’d say a 6 is probably about right. ;)
Yoli says

I’d say I’m between 3 and 4. Shame on me, my mom is awesome, she’d be a 25!
Sarah Heppner says

Maybe a 4? I’ve never owned my own machine, this would be more than amazing!
Lauren says

I’m definitely a one on the scale. I have many friends who are so talented in the sewing department but I just haven’t dive in yet. I would love to learn though! Especially now that we have a baby. I could make some super cute things.
Bea says
SEW ME!!!
Thanks SO MUCH for this worldwide chance!
Can already see few projects pinteresting in my head!!!
I like to think I could be a 6 but must happily admit I’m a fair 3.5…
Good luck everyone!

SEW ME!!!
I’m a 8 or 9 and sew for a living. My back-up machine is starting to die and I could really use a new one that doesn’t sound like a machine gun going off when it stitches!
Jana says
SEW ME!
On a good day I am like 5. I managed to sew even e simple dress for me. But often there are a not so good days when I am like 1 – almost like I would sew for the first time :). I guess it depends a lot on fabric I use.
Gracie says
SEW ME!
I think I’m probably a 4. I’ve made a few projects, and am dying to start making clothes for myself. So many lovely fabrics in the world!

I am a 3 on the sewing scale like Sherry. Can do the odd straight line.
Fabulous that this giveaway is International. Good luck to the Aussies! Oi oi oi!

Does playing with a wooden sewing machine when I was little count as experience?! ;)
I hope to be able to master it soon as I have quite a few projects in mind that I need to do for my apartment!
cheryl olliff says

I’d put myself at a 6-7ish – but if I won this then 9 here I come (not 10 though as there’s always room for improvement!).
Jessie says
“SEW ME!” And, I’m probably a 2 but dying to learn!!!
Anna says
SEW ME! I have never owned a sewing machine, but I took a sewing class in school and got an A on the pillow case I made. But that was several years ago, so I am no more than a two or three on that scale. And can I just say that I am really happy that you are finally hosting a giveaway that ships worldwide! :-)
Hazel says
Sew Me!
I’d give myself a nice solid 3 on the scale. Luckily for me my sister is closer to a 10 so I cheat and get her to do the difficult stuff :-)
Karen says
sew me… I’m about a 6 or a 7. My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 9 and gave me my first sewing machine – an old 60’s era Singer in yellow and green.

Megan says
SEW ME!!!
Definitely a 1 with closet aspirations of being a 3 who makes wonky halloween costumes for my boys
Samantha says
SEW ME!
Maybe 3 at a stretch? I’ve made slipcovers for a few chairs though and they’ve stood the test of time so far as well as faux roman panel curtains, I’d definitely like to improve my sewing though!

Katharine says

I’d like to think I’d be a 4 on a good day, though I am definitely over-ambitious with my projects (memories of making a pencil skirt with darts at school!). My old machine is a 1960s Bernina that no one will service any longer due to a cracked cable casing that can’t be replaced – and so is officially deemed unsafe. Would so love a new Singer – my mum swears by hers.
Niki Lewis says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 4 or 5 – I’ve sewn parrot and Ariel fancy dress cstumes and had the honour of sewing my friend’s wedding pillow. I moved out of my parents house and don’t have a working machine any more – just an antique Singer that used to belong to my Granny, which I’m trying to restore.
Jasmin says

I’m a 9, but would love to perfect my skills on a lovely new machine :)
Beth says
Sew Me!! Sometimes I’m a 1 and when IT works, I’m a 10! :-)

I’m about 6 or 7. I whipped up a sweet little Christmas dress in under 2 hours today.

Sew me! I’ve never used a sewing machine, but I’m decent at hand-sewing. But I would love to laern as I have been dreaming of making a quilt forever!

A 1 but with dreams of being a 3. We are building our house in the new year and I am currently ‘assisting’ my mum in making curtains for the study but would love to do it myself. (especially as I don’t know if her enthusiasm will last through the next 10 projects) :)
