***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Wendy says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 3, too. I can get by, but would love to improve!
Anne says
I love sewing – I’ve been making quilts for all my friend’s babies. And since they are a prolific group of reproducers, I’m getting pretty darn good at it. But a new machine would make it even more fun! I’m probably a 7 though – still room for improvement.
Veronica says
SEW ME!
I’m a newbie (1), but I’m dying to put in more sweat and learn!

Lindsey says
SEW ME!
In 7th grade, I had to make a pillow in the shape of a stereo and was so distraught over it that my mom ended up doing it for me!! My teacher said I had a lead foot… things did not go well. So, I would definitely place myself as a zero, but would love to learn now as an adult.
Michelle says
Sew me! I’m ranked a 6… Better than average.. But don’t look too closely because Then I’m really a 4.
Tracy says
Sew Me!
I am probably a 4…I have made a few gifts and things, but I’m really best with a straight line so anything square is perfect for me! I hate the machine I have now (which was given to me) so the easiest one around would be so great!
Lowry says
Sew me! I would rank myself a solid 3 :)
Barb says
SEW ME!
I can sew small things like fixing a button or tear but I’ve never used a sewing machine. I know I could because I’ve watched my grandma and mom enough to know the basic concept.
Amy in MI says
SEW ME! I’m a level 3. I need a lot more practice. I sure would love to win this sewing machine!

SEW ME!!! I am about a 3. I’ve done it, I read a lot about it, just not a lot of experience. I don’t have a sewing machine, I borrow one when I need it. This is on my Christmas list. Ooooo, how I want this!
Lacy says
Sew Me!!
I’m somewhere around a -5. I’ve really wanted to learn and this would definately help me out! :)
cporoski says
SEW ME! I WANT THIS SO BADLY. I am a bad sewer. I have made a few tshirt quilts but that is it. I want to be better. I feel like this will give me the ability to expand my design abilities and this is my new years resolution to learn more.
Lani says
SEW ME!!!

SEW ME!
I’m a 3 as well. I can sew theoretically….but you probably wouldn’t want to wear anything I made out in public…or if you had company. :)
Kathleen says
Sew Me!
I’d say I am about a 2. Just started to learn how to sew and I made some Christmas napkins last night!
zoe says
Sew me!
Probably about a 6
Jules says
Sew Me! I’m a 1 with the machine, as in I’ve used a machine once, in high school. But needle and thread I would give myself a hearty 3, even a 4. I’m not about to sell anything at a craft show with my skills but my buttons won’t start falling off again until the end of the season. :)
Katie McIntyre says
“SEW ME!” A big, fat 1! We made stuffed animals in middle school and the squirrel I attempted to sew looked like it had been attacked by wild dogs!
Lauryn says
SEW ME! Thanks for the opportunity!!
Nina says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 2. When I was a kid, my family friend bought me a sewing machine and taught me how to sew (a red velvet and christmas fabric reversible vest and skirt, yes it was just as cool as it sounds) but I’ve forgotten how to use a sewing machine in the past two decades since!
Thuy says
“SEW ME!”
Definitely a 2. I can sew a straight line but that’s about it. I’d love to learn and practice more though. I see the talented creations of so many people and I just want to get there too.

Sarah W says
SEW ME!
My dad’s a quilter so he made me take seven years of quilting classes, but I’ve never really been that great at sewing. I’m too antsy to focus on measuring everything perfectly and making everything look nice. I’d estimate that my knowledge is probably a 7 but my execution is more like a 3.
That being said, I sew all. the. time. So many projects require it. Right now I’m stuck doing it all by hand because my freecycled machine from the seventies has never really worked, but if I had this beauty I could be the queen of sewing! My father would be so proud!
Tyrel says
SEW ME! I am OF COURSE a 1 on the scale, my wife however is a bit higher.. if she asks I said 10. ;)
Tricia A says
SEW ME!!!
Mary-Kate says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 2. Sewing is a sore subject for me – I got a B+ in the sewing semester of home ec. in 7th grade, which kept me off of the all A honor roll. Sew sad. This machine might be my redemption…
Nichole K says
SEW ME! I would probably rank myself at a 6-7. Not perfect, but not horrible, and I do know a lot of basics, plus some not-so-basics. I made a blanket for my then-boyfriend, now husband, out of the most difficult fabric ever (stretchy jersey) when I was about 16 with the help of my master-sewer grandmother. I won’t let him use it to this day because I don’t want it ruined since it took me so long! Oops…
Robyn says
Sew Me!!
I’m a two. If someone can thread the thing for me, I can kinda figure my way around. If I have to thread it though, I’m a straight up zero! I want to learn soooo badly though!
Julie says
SEW ME!
I am around a 3 at best but haven’t done anything in years!
Sarah F says
SEW ME!! I’m totally a 1, but have had the itch to do some projects recently that would require a sewing machine (burlap stockings, anyone??)
Jen says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a solid 6.
Christy says
SEW ME!
I think i fall in the realm of 4-5. I’ve made a few quilts, but haven’t attempted anything more than straight seams. Partly because my current machine drives me batty. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
Christie Bird says
SEW ME! I am a 1 but would love to improve my sewing skills!
jean says
SEW ME!
i would say I’m around sherry’s level, 3, I would love to get better by having my own machine. I’m always catching myself going to my mother-in-laws to use hers’. Now that I’m pregnant I’m dying to make the baby a ton of homemade clothes. I would love to win this!!
Stacy says
SEW ME! I am probably an 8-ish. I loved sewing with my grandmother when I was young. Everytime I make something on my machine, I think of her :)
