***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

jess mosby says
SEW ME!
I can’t sew, but I will learn.
Matt Cliffy says
SEW ME. I don’t sew, but my wife wants a sewing machine so she can start quilting.
Miranda says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m a 1. I can barely hand sew.
Morgan says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 1…although I did make a duffle bag in Home Ec a few years (decades) ago:)
Diana says
SEW ME! I’m a 2, I guess. I can mend jeans and that’s what I do most often. I’d love a machine that would help me do more. Please and thank you.
Kirsten says
SEW ME! I’m about a 6. I made a dress and some simple things but I once had to take out 6 feet of stitching when I made an error on a Duvet cover…I cried! ;-)
Katharine says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 0 or a 1. I’ve tried to sew before and wound up giving the fabric to my mom to finish.
Molly says
SEW ME! I couldn’t sew my way out of a burlap bag–with a sewing machine that is. I can stitch up some mean seams with a needle and thread!
Meike says
SEW ME!! I’d put myself at 3-4 maybe. What I lack in skill I make up in enthusiasm… I could use some practice on a good machine ;-)
Colleen says
SEW ME!!!!
I’m a zer0 on a modern machine since I don’t have one and have never used one(fail, I know); but I can work a needle and thread like no other as well as create beautiful pieces with my great grandma’s FOOT PUMP old fashion machine. I’m definitely still stuck in the late 19th/early 20th century. Thanks for the chance to win!
Becky says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a 1 but am dying to learn!!
Michele O says
SEW ME!! I’m probably a 4-5, not a beginner but no where near an expert!
Jessica Tysen says
SEW ME!!!! I’d rate myself a 2, haven’t used a sewing machince since school =)
Colleen says
Sew Me!
I’m probably a 2 or 3–I know the basics but don’t have a sewing machine so haven’t done anything in years!
Heather Cassidy says
Sew Me!!! I’m probably an 8 but don’t have time to become a 10! My machine is old and can’t do fancy things, so I have to do it the hard way. This machine looks great!!
Diane says
SEW ME ~ I want to enter this to win the machine for my daughter who is in college.
I would rank myself as an 8. I’ve done a lot of heirloom sewing, smocking and general household and clothing creation. I’ve not been sewing as much lately as I’m working full time and my kids are in high school and college (don’t appreciate hand-smocked creations much at this age). I have 4 kids and only one daughter (who needs this machine). I’m looking forward to sewing for grandkids some day! My next project: curtains for our new home’s living room, dining room and kitchen.
debbie says
Sew Me I”ve been sewing for forty-five years and my machine’s almost that old! My Mother gave me that Singer when I got married!
Mary says
SEW ME!
I am a level three but i want to improve
i love sewing machines :p
Tanya Rousseau says
Sew me! Propably a solid 4, meek 5… I can now make stuff without a pattern, but I can’t make anything fancy just yet.
Katie says
sew me!
Definitely a 1. Maybe with a new sewing machine it will be a 2! hah!
Kate says
SEW ME!!!!
I sit around the “4” mark, at the bottom end of average! I’ve managed to complete a bunch of diy projects at our place with very limited knowledge of how the machine works (my limit is straight, zig zag and reverse… although I have (just once)sewn a button hole). Anything to get me over the fear hump and moving up a belt would be amazing!
Laura says
I’m about a 3! I was in the sewing club in 6th grade! I haven’t sewn much 17 years since then, but I have a baby and a home now and I’d love to start again!
Laura says
I forgot to include SEW ME!
Deborah Vogel says
Sew me!
I’m a 1 … or maybe a 1.5:)
Eleanor Rodway says
SEW ME! I’m at level two I literally just started learning. My neighbor is giving me lessons and lets me borrow her machine
Christy says
SEW ME! I am a self-taught 3 just so that I can make my own pillows and window treatments.
Lacey says
sew me!
I’m going to rate myself a 4-5 for sewing skills.
Nichole says
Sew me!!!!
I will have to admit my seeing skills are probably in the negatives! I have been interested in learning though as my growing family is now expecting baby #4!!
Christine says
SEW ME! I am definitely a 1 but I want to learn! We are expecting a baby girl in April and all of the crib bedding is so expensive. It would be great to make it on my own! :)
Michelle O says
SEW ME!
I think I’m pretty much a -10 on the sewing scale, but I’d like to learn!
Monica says
SEW ME! My only sewing experience comes from middle school Home Ec classes where I was presented with a “Sewing Machine Operator’s License” once I completed the class. I sure would like to put that license to good use!
Kristin W. says
SEW ME!
Haha…I have zero sewing skill…but I think this would inspire me to try ;)
Soha Azargan says
I’m not sure but maybe 2 or 3. I really love it but not experience so much.
Maura says
Sew Me! I’m probably about a 7-8 having done a lot of “practical” sewing over the years… everything from quilts to clothes for the kids to curtains and crafts. I’m still sewing on a 30 years old machine my dh bought me when we were first married. I’d love to “upgrade”!
melissa minz says
“SEW ME!” I am a 5….
Amy Steinberg says
Sew Me!
I am probably a four, but would love to work my way towards a ten! I sew on my Great Aunt’s old Singer from the 60’s. I imagine that this machine is about 100 times easier to use!!!
Amianne says
SEW ME!! I have wanted a sewing machine for a while. I’d say I’m about a 2.5 or 3. I don’t know much but I want to learn!!
Leanne says
Sew me! I am probably a 5… My mom taught me to sew as a kid and its stuck. I can do some basic things and actually find sewing to be relaxing.
Lindsay says
Sew me! I’d say I am a 4…after my sewing classes last year!
Carrianne Eller says
Sew me! I’m pretty terrible, but it’s compounded with my mom’s 30 year old machine. I have no manual to turn to.
Kayla says
Sew me!
I’m in the mid-range. My projects always end up looking more-or-less like they’re supposed to, but I’ve never had the patience to improve my technique.
Mallory says
SEW ME!
I am a 1 but I would love to start learning!
Bonnie says
SEW ME! I’m a minus 10, as in, can’t even sew a button on or mend socks, let alone use a sewing machine, but the bf is quite skillful with it.
Diane says
SEW ME! I couldn’t sew a straight line if I tried.
Holli C says
SEW ME!
Kate says
Sew Me! I am about a 5. Can do curtains, cushions but beyond that I need a pattern.
Ida says
Sew me!
I’m a 1, but my ideas and want to know how to sew are an 8.
