***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

I’m a 3.
Anne Weber-Falk says
SEW ME!!! Inside my brain I say I’m an 8 but in reality I’m a 5. BUT! If I had this machine I could very well be an 8 and just not know it.
Lara says
Sew me! I’m totally a notice sewer. I can do curtains or table cloths but haven’t ventured out much beyond that. Maybe a 3?
Nicole says
SEW ME!
I can’t sew at all, but I’d love to learn and this would be perfect!
Katherine says
SEW ME!
I am a self proclaimed 3. This year I took on the ambitious project of making Christmas gift bags to wrap presents in rather than using gift wrap. With my Mom’s guidance and the use of her 35-year old sewing machine they are slowly but surely being sewn. I would love to have my own, simple to use sewing machine.
Christa says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2, but I’d like to improve!
Mary says
Sew me!
I am definitely at skill level one, but I have great memories of sewing with my grandmother when I was younger and have always wanted to learn more!
marly z. says
SEW ME! I’m about a 3. I can use my ancient machine, but can’t imagine how much easier this one would be. Fingers crossed.
Kristen says
SEW ME! I am probably a 3 or 4… My biggest accomplishment has been a twin size quilt. It wasn’t too bad, all straight lines and I made it in a 4 week class with instructors there for support :) I need a new sewing machine, mine is 30 years old!
Nicole L. says
Sew Me!!!
Hmmm, maybe a 1 or a 2 at best :)
Jenn says
SEW ME!! I’d say Im about a 5 but that didnt stop me from being overly ambitious this Christmas and sewing something for everyone in my family! What was I thinking???
Ami says
Sew Me!
I am a negative one in terms of sewing skills. I cannot get a sewing machine plugged in and turned on. I so want to learn to sew though, so it encourages me to see others learning.
Amanda W says
SEW ME!
I have never taken a spin with a seeing machine, so I guess that makes me a 0. I have one on my Christmas list this year, though.. Sherry has me convinced I can handle it.
Ann says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1 but I would love to learn. :)
Lara says
SEW ME! I am a 1 – but would love to learn and have plenty of ideas of things I would like to make, however, my sweetie is probably a 3 with ease and he would be willing to help me learn or make some of my projects for me so I would not get too frustrated!
Samantha says
SEW ME!
I would probably be a 2 but want to be a 10. I have taken two sewing courses now and think I can finally thread a bobbin without breaking a sweat. ;) I would love to be able to sew DIY things for the house like curtains, pillows and banners and have 2 little ones that would be fun to sew clothes or stuffed toys for.
Rachel says
Sew Me!
I’d rate myself a 4. Having inherited short legs, I need to hem just about every pair of pants I buy. I’ve got it down to about 10 minutes now!
Christine says
SEW ME! I’m a three!
Kortney says
SEW ME!
I’m definately. Level 1, but God a special place in my heart for sewing.[Its in my family. ] but I’d lve to become a pro. So many projects I want to do.

SEW ME!!
I’m maybe a 6, I’ve sewed some clothes and couch cushions but if we could delay this shippment if I win so I dont have to hem my sisters wedding dress that would be wonderful, I’m not THAT good!

SEW ME!
I’m an 8. Made my wedding dress and most every window shade/valance/curtain in the houses we’ve lived in. Also, kids costumes when they were younger. Never used a dress form, though, and my trusty Kenmore is around 30 years old (I bought it used). Still a great machine, but it would be cool to have something newer with some bells and whistles.
Shannon says
SEW ME!!!!!! I have tested the sewing waters but was just looking at pinterest and falling in love with all kinds of sewing-needed projects!!
Chris says
SEW ME! I would say I’m about a 3 or 4, still haven’t mastered the art of following a pattern.

mattie says
SEW ME!
I took Home Ec and fiddled with my mom’s sewing machine growing up so I’d like to think I’m a solid 5 . . . but both of those things were a long time ago!
Kate says
SEW ME!!!
I’d put myself around a 2 as in I have used a sewing machine before, but would still need to read the directions.
Pick me!!!!

Jessi says
Sew me! I have no seeing skills but would like to learn! :)
Jennifer says
SEW ME!! I’m a solid 4 at straight lines; curtains, pillow cases, burp cloths. Must. Sew. Lines. ;)

jennifer says
SEW ME!
I’m likely a 3 like Sherry…but I’m learning on my grandma’s really really old singer machine…
Joe says
Sew Me!
I’m probably about a 6-7. I have made lots of bags, various gift projects like slippers, etc. and am currently trying to make my daughter’s Christmas dress from an Oliver + S pattern (so cute!). My hubby got me a Kenmore machine about 6 years ago for Christmas, but I’ve been wanting to upgrade it for a while!
Darcy says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 1, maaaaybe 1.5
Leigh says
Sew me!! Probably a 2, a 4 when my mom is in the room…
Dalia says
SEW ME! Definitely beyond a 5 maybe a 6. I excel is straight lines. So window coverings are easy. But anything else is a lot of trial and error. I had to give my loaner sewing machine back so this would be perfect.
Kerry says
Sew me!
I am a -10, but I’d love to work my way up to Sherry’s Fab 3!
Carolina says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 1 or 2 but there is always a friend who can help us!
Rosie says
SEW ME! I am potentially a zero, but have aspirations of being a big old 3. I’ve asked Santa for a sewing machine; maybe this is the route it will arrive?
Susan W. says
SEW ME! I’m about a .5 but I’ve always wanted to learn to sew. I even have the “Sewing for Dummies” book. I’m a scrapbooker and I’ve seen some pretty snazzy embellishments using a sewing machine on scrapbook pages.
Jill Kidd says
SEW ME!
I’m a 0 – can’t even use a needle and thread. But, your website has inspired this stay at home mom to be more DIY and this machine would be a great learning tool.
Carson says
SEW ME!
Advanced amateur would be me, I guess a 3.5, for once I can get the machine threaded I’m alright!
AnnMarie says
Sew Me!
I am a 1 and could not sew my way out of a bag. Always wanted to learn.
Tanja says
That machine is “SEW ME” – I love sewing baby clothes and soft toys, but have a very basic $60 machine and am so ready for an upgrade!
Elizabeth says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2, but I aspire to be a solid 5.
Amanda says
SEW ME!
My mom taught me how to sew when I was around 10. I even made some outfits myself for 4-H fashion shows – I’m talking cow-print shorts and a cow applique t-shirt! But I quickly became “too cool” to stick with it and in turn forgot the majority of my skills. I’d say I’m around a 4. I could figure out the basics and make something if I had to but if you asked me to get fancy, who knows what you’d end up with!
Cindie says
I’ve sewn for over fifty years and am pretty accomplished. I’ve made prom dresses, drapes, quilts etc. SEW ME!
