***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
Wow.. I am probably a 6 ont he scale, but I sure love it!
Elizabeth says
SEW ME! I am a 3 too. My excuse is always that I need my own sewing machine to get better.
Renee says
“SEW ME!”
Haha, I’m a 0! I’ve never used a sewing machine, but I put one on my Christmas list this year! Nice timing on this giveaway! :)
Heather A says
SEW ME!
I have wanted a sewing machine for years now! This would be perfect to bring my skill level from a 1 to maybe a 3-4?! Haha!
Anna Ransdell says
Sew Me! I am probably a 2 – I have a ton of projects where I have all the fabric but, but never follow thru on actually sewing anything.
Erin R says
“SEW ME!” I am maybe a 5, once I get the darn needle threaded.
Kate says
Wanting to win a new, easy-to-use sewing machine is “SEW ME!”
I’m a self-taught/learn by doing sewer with skills hovering around a 3 (just don’t test me.. yet!). I could definitely use this little fellow around the house to tackle some much needed projects – from the curtains, tablecloths, and napkins I attempt now, to the clothes and pillows I want to learn to do next!
Thanks YHL!
Meredith says
SEW ME!
Wonky bags unite! I’m definitely a 2.5-3/
Brittany D says
SEW ME! I would rank myself as a 5. I am getting more adventurous lately and could use a machine that is a step up from my $99 Singer sewing machine ;)
Kelly says
SEW ME!
and I would say I am somewhere in the 3 range with sherry. I have made my share of wonky bags and various other wonky items to boot.
Lawren says
SEW ME!
i’m less than a 1, but want to learn!
callie says
Sew Me! 3: I’ve made a few wonky bags!
Emily says
SEW ME!
I am a one… I love the hem tape!
Veronica says
SEW ME!
MAybe a 5, or a 7. I can quilt and do basic alterations, but i am not super great at it.
Captain Micah says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m in a 2 category, but only because I ironed the napkins that my sister sewed for me. Does that count?
I have been wanting to learn, and something like this might just be the trick!

sew me!
i’m a newbie, but i made a t-shirt quilt this summer. oh, and i did make a bag (with a zipper!). it was kind of wonky, but that zipper definitely lands it at a 4. =)
Sheila says
SEW ME !! I wish I could sew. I would rate myself a 1.
Alaina says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1 by machine (3 by hand). When I was in high school I brought home a simple sewing project for drama club and my mom told me I wasn’t allowed to work in the costume department if it meant she had to help me sew! My mother-in-law could teach me now though!
Kelly S. says
SEW ME!
I’m around a 3 or 4….I can get going and make something, but I always have issues along the way and all the things I’ve made so far are just straight lines. :) I AM working on my first ever quilt and took a free motion quilting class, so at least I’m feeling a bit more adventurous and willing to try something new! :)
Elizabeth says
Sew me!
I am not very high on this scale.. just started sewing this summer but I’m getting better.
Rin says
Sew Me!!
I would say a 1 or 0.
Erika says
SEW ME!
Definitely about a -3, but I have always wanted to learn the basics! Sounds like a great machine for starters.
Katie says
SEW ME!
I think I would rank myself somewhere close to Sherry… 3ish. I could probably sew a wonky bag having taken about a dozen sewing classes, but I dont have my own machine which has definitely hindered my learning curve. I would love an excuse like this to reach a 10!!
Rachel says
Sew me!
I’m probably a 3-ish as well. My mom would love this machine. She’s been using a really old (and frustrating) one for years!
Megan H. says
SEW ME!
I would consider myself a 5. I have sewn some awesome curtains and am currently working on recovering the cushion for our bay window seat. However, I am using my mom’s old machine from 1980. It weighs about a million pounds!
Melissa says
SEW ME! Im a 1, but can learn!
Annie says
Sew me!
I don’t even think I register on the scale. I could not sew a button on my underwear when told to do so after asking “So what?”
Martha says
SEW ME! I would put myself at a 2.8. I could sew a straight line if forced and can definitely repair buttons and hems. But if Sherry is going for a 3, then there is no way I’m above that, as I cannot use sewing machines – perhaps this will be great for me!!!!!!!!!!
Hannah M says
SEW ME!
I’m around a 2 in sewing skills. I have a sad sewing machine, a cheap little one, so maybe with a nicer one my sewing score will go up?
Karyn says
SEW ME!
Three, because it is the magic number. But also, because I can only sew by hand (buttons, simple patches) and last year I made pillow cases for friends, all by hand. I know it could have been faster and better with a sewing machine, but alas…here I sit. A three.
Kristin says
SEW ME!! I am a 5. I took sewing lessons as a young girl and have recently picked it up again and am loving it but I don’t currently have a machine that works!
Emily says
SEW ME!
I think I’m hovering right around a 3, but my mom is easily a 9 or above, and my aunt is a 10. As a result, I got some pretty awesome hand-sewn dresses when I was growing up (including a full medieval dress from my mom for a medieval day in 2nd grade, and a kimono from my aunt… just because).
Ali says
SEW ME!! Definitely a 1 or maybe a 0, but I really want to learn how to sew!
Andrea J says
SEW ME! I’m about a 2… I made a pillow case last year (My mom helped me–she’s about a 9). I have not attempted anything more complex yet.
Justine V. says
Sew me! I’m about a 3; maybe a 4 on a good day..
Jen B says
A solid 5 with my mom’s help and a 30 year old machine I bought at a garage sale!
Kelly says
SEW ME!
I’ma 2 – based on my ability to pass 8th grade home ec and complete jams for my one one only 4-h project.
Jaime says
SEW ME!!
Self proclaimed 0, but want to learn.
Ali Miller says
SEW ME! I am a serious 1 when it comes to a machine, but I have made some pretty nifty things when sewing by hand (Christmas stockings complete with bells and embroidered names included). I would LOVE to learn to use a machine.
Mary McG says
SEW ME! I am a 1. I “think” I own some thread and a needle. Never really use them, but I need to learn how to sew to mend my kids clothes. Been telling the hubby that I need to get a machine…
Krista S. says
Sew me!
I’m probably a two on my own, but a five when my mother is helping/supervising. ;)
Amy @ drivethirtythree says
SEW ME!
I’d give myself a 5. Can follow a pattern and make quilts and blankets..but more likely than not it will be a bit wonky :)
River says
SEW ME!
On this scale I’m probably aroudn a 6 but learnign every day and getting better. :)
Flan says
SEW ME!
I think I’m in at a 2 or a 3. I can sew a straight line, and probably a simple curve, but even a wonky bag might be beyond me!
julie g. says
“SEW ME” Maybe a one – I can sew a hem on pants, scout badges on uniform and t-shirt puppets but that is it!
Amy S. says
SEW ME!
I’d give myself an 8.5. My biggest project last year was a “Mickey” messenger bag (from a tutorial I found online) for my trip to Disneyland. My current project is a dog bed for my new (rescue) cocker spaniel puppy.
Karen says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1. My sewing aspirations far exceed my sewing skills, but hopefully owning a machine would help remedy that!
Laura says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 6 or so. I can sew most anything with a pattern. My mom is a 10, though. She can sew ANYTHING!
CaraL says
SEW ME! I would say I’m about a 3 1/2 or 4. Would love to master the sewing machine.
SusanB says
Sew Me!
Probably about a 5.
