***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

I’m probably a 2.5

SEW ME! I’m like a 4 I would think. I use to sew scrunchies and actually sell them.
Meghan M. says
SEW ME!!
What a great give away! I am maybe a 3… I think I could handle a “wonky bag” too :) I’ve actually been looking to buy a new sewing machine and I like that this one is supposed to be very easy to use since I’m actually better by hand and haven’t quite mastered machines at all yet. Here’s hoping!
Heidi says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a 6 but have only a very old machine – so I would love to upgrade!

I’m a beginner, but I want to learn!

SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 3, maybe a 4 if I dusted off the skills I learned in Home Ec. 30 years ago!
Carol Pettit says
SEW ME! I can sew STRAIGHT lines only. Have never owned a sewing machine but have borrowed here and there to make a couple of baby quilts. Fun stuff. Have always wanted a machine to learn to do more.
Monica says
SEW ME!! I am a 5. I learned to sew in 4-H many many years ago, but I don’t do very many complicated things on the sewing machine these days. My machine is old and sounds like a small plane is about to land!
Jessica says
SEW ME!
I am about an 8. I can follow a pattern easily and even make my own patterns. I made the a cute Strawberry Shortcake costume for my daughter. If I will I will send you a picture : ) Can you tell I am proud of myself???
erica says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m between a 2 & 3. But I’m a hands on kind of girl so would love the opportunity to advance to a 10! Thanks!
Barb Davis says
“Sew Me!” my level I would say is a 7-8….I sew nearly daily
Emily Atsuko says
SEW ME! I’m probably about a 0 (assuming we can’t go into the negatives…), although my mom is off the charts with her sewing skills.
Tiffany B says
Sew me! I am a 0-1. Iam so eager to learn though. I imagine myself making on my kids clothes & living on a prairie.
Amanda says
SEW ME…I would say I’m a 2, a beginner sewer – the basics, I have grasped – need to work on doing more complex projects.
Meagan says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1… lots of buttonless clothing in my house.
Faith says
Definitely a 1, but I am a quick learner!
karen says
SEW ME!
Although I haven’t touched a sewing machine in a long time, I think I’d rank at a 5. My mother is an expert at sewing, so I had a good teacher and picked up some tips along the way. I have some curtains I would like to make, had been leaning toward your “no sew” ways =)
Merry Christmas!
Jennie says
I’m probably a 2, but with this baby I may move up the ladder a bit!
Sarah P. says
And I forgot to add on my previous comment — sew me!
Amanda says
SEW ME!
My Momma made almost all of my clothes from birth to 6th grade so I would rate my skills around a 7 since she taught me a thing or two. :)
LaurenT says
SEW ME!
I would guess I’m around a 4 or 5, but a new machine could raise my number!
Maggie says
SEW ME! I would love a chance to increase from a 2 to a 6 or 7!! This is a wonderful giveaway!
Donna Lough says
SEW ME! I’m re-learning sewing and have taken a beginner’s quilting class. I would probably rate myself a 2 out of 10 (I can thread the machine all by myself… LOL).
Ashley Satterfield says
SEW ME!!!!!!!!
I am probably a 5. I have sewn a lot of things but have a lot of problems with my machine, and therefore don’t do as much as I wouold like. I am in desperate need of a new machine!!!!

Celia says
SEW ME!
I’m a total “newbie”… although my mother is a great seamstress. I’ve been dying to learn now that I have children….
Jill M says
Sew Me! I’m a 3. My mom taught me as a teenager, but 20 years break will deflate the skills.
Taysha says
SEW ME! I am definitely a 1 but would love to learn!
Emily says
SEW ME! Is it possible to be a negative?!
Wes says
SEW ME, PLEASE!
I’m definitely somewhere around a 3. I took a beginner’s sewing class but didn’t have it in my budget to purchase a machine so haven’t been able to follow up and expand on my skills. :(
I keep saving various patterns and sewing ideas in the hopes that I’ll be able to get one soon!
Heidi Hess says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a minus 1 but totally want to learn. Hahahah! I pick up things quickly and I REALLY want to learn how to sew!
Emily says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a five. I’m great with rectangles (placemats, tablecloths, curtains), but I am TERRIBLE with anything else (dresses for my daughter, hemming pants).
Kathy Clayton says
SEW ME!!!!! I am probably a 5, maybe a 6. I sewed sporadically from age 14 to age 35, but have been sewing passionately since that time. I am the baby quilt queen of my family, and love making little dresses for my great-neices. I also made self-designed make up bags for all of my girls for Christmas. I would LOVE to have a new Singer machine, but can’t afford to buy one.
(I have a pictoral tribute to the Singer Company on the wall of my sewing room)
Anne says
SEW ME!
I think I am a 4. And I’m using a borrowed sweing machine (seriously I jacked my nieces Christmas gift from their grandparents (my parents) to practice. I sewed myself a skirt for part of my Halloween costume this year, but I’m still kinda amazed by Sherry’s pinterest challenge pouf for Clara’s reading nook. I’m not sure I could do that so I think Sherry’s sandbagging a little! :)
Ashleigh says
SEW ME! I’m an absolute ZERO. But, no better way to learn! :)
Jo Mathis says
SEW ME! I would rank myself about a 3. I have many, many projects I want to do that require a sewing machine so I want to get one. My daughter has been sewing at school, so it would be nice for her to be able to sew at home as well.
Amanda says
SEW ME… I am so a 3 and have made a wonky bag or two.
Nikki Miller says
Sew me!
Shayna says
SEW ME! I have never owned one or even used one, so can I be a 0? But, I’ve been wanting one for about a year now so I can learn!
erica says
