***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
I’m a total 1! I once managed to sew my school sewing project (a pin cushion) onto my skirt. I only realised when I’d finished and had to unpick the whole thing!
maria says
i need to start learning how to SEW!cross my fingers!!
Pam says
SEW ME!
I think my skills are around a 7, I like to sew together quilts and items for around the house. I don’t have any skills on clothes construction.
Sue says
SEW ME! I’m a 5 based on 1 high school sewing class!
Tamiko says
“SEW ME!”
I rank myself on the sewing skills continuum at an 8; definitely not blindfolded-LOL :) I could really use the SINGER One sewing machine as I have started a Sewing Co-Op to help poor & marginalized women obtain economic empowerment through skills training that helps with poverty alleviation.

Laura says
sew me! i’m probably about a 5! I can sew a straight line and fix some machine issues at this point, but i’m terrible with cutting and doing patterns confidently on my own. i can do with some help though!
Carin Wijnand says
Sew me!!
I would say that I’m a 5 :)
Kelly says
SEW ME! I’m truthfully a 4/5, but much like salsa dancing, after a glass of wine I think I’m an 8!
Sarah says
Sew me! I’m a 4 on a good day, hope to work on pillows and curtains over my winter break but they never end up quite like I had in mind haha. My husband’s reply is usually, they look good enough for government work- gee thanks.
Dianne says
SEW ME! I am a 9 on home projects – my favorite is slip covering (7 on clothing) – sewing for 40 years, I need a new machine!
Miriam Rivera says
Sew me! I am about 7 in sewing skills. I can follow a pattern pretty good but what I am enjoying the most is sewing little dresses for girls in Africa. You dont need a pattern for the dress, just one for the armhole and the rest is your imagination. I try to sew few dresses a week although I do have to pay for my material. Most of the people got donated bias tape and fabric. I would love a machine like this one.

Sew me!!
I think I fall somewhere around a 4 or 5 in the sewing skills – beginning to get more confident but still have TONS to learn! This machine would be amazing because my sewing machine has stopped stitching properly (gasp!). It probably needs to be repaired but I have SO many projects lined up that I can’t afford to stop. So I have just been pushing that poor sewing machine along, making do the best that I can. It’s better than nothing, right? ;)
Blake says
SEW ME! I’m definitely a 3ish. I can sew pillows and anything else that needs a straight line :)
Kimberly says
SEW ME!!
And I’m a 5, I just don’t sew enough (my machine is old and tetchy) to become more proficient.
If I have a pattern, I can usually do it…though sometimes, I do get lost with all those instructions.
Krysti says
SEW ME! Hand-sewing, maybe a 3, but a 1 with a machine. I would love to learn (and speed things up on my projects!)
Erin says
Sew Me!!
I would rank myself as a 3 or 4.
Cindy says
SEW ME! I’m about a three. Years ago, I actually learned to make bound button holes, but I put them on the sleeves backwards. Yikes…maybe I’m a one.
Ashleigh says
SEW ME!
I’d rate myself around a 6, probably. I always use my grandmas machine to make things, like right now I’m making an owl pillow. My next project is making an anthropologie-inspired bed comforter for my dorm room, since we don’t have the store in Australia (: Fingers crossed it turns out half-decent haha
Emily says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 1…or maybe a 0. I’d love to learn, though!
Diana Cote says
SEW ME!!!
I would say I am 2, I can sew but I struggle with replacing the bobbin & threading. hahaha
Andi says
SEW ME!!
I can sew anything square or with straight edges. Add a curve in, and I’m hopeless…but I really want to change that!
Kate says
SEW ME~! My grams taught me how to sew on a machine and a young age. I would rate myself a 7! I can put the thread in, make straight hems and fix my kids clothing!! I 67 Love a new singerrr
Hannah says
SEW ME!!
Is it possible to be negative!?
But maybe this “easy to use” machine could help me with my skills. Tess & Ed would love some new homemade beds, I’m sure!
Erin Sanderson says
SEW ME!
I’ll be optimistic and give myself a 6. I’ve made some pretty cool things but when I finish them I always think… HOW IN THE WORLD DID I PULL THAT ONE OFF!?! and can never quite do it again :)
Kelly says
“Sew me!” Negative 10, but I’d love to learn!!
Marilee says
SEW ME!!
Like most of the posts, I think I’m probably the same as Sherry – a 3. I can follow a pattern, and get the basic gist of sewing but most things turn out a little “wonky”. Practice makes perfect – right?
Krista says
SEW ME! I am not very good, probably a 1, but I have grand ambitions of improvement!
Melissa Talley says
Sew me! I am a 3. I love to sew, always making something from quilts to clothes, table runners as well as mending and alterations.
Annette Fiol says
SEW ME! I am probably about a 5. Best at sewing with a pattern – but I can whip up some simple things without one.
Shanna says
SEW ME!
I think I’m a 4. If I had more patience it might bump me up to a 5.
Kirstin says
SEW ME!!
I’m a 1 1/2 and have aspirations of being skilled enough to make curtains and throw pillows. We just bought our first house and I want to DIY as much as possible.
Lisa says
SEW ME!
I can sew buttons and hem pants…so I could improve greatly :)
shannon says
SEW ME! I’d love this machine so I can learn how to sew a wonky bag :)

Jennifer M says
Sew Me!! i’m a one… at best

SEW ME!!!
I’m a true beginner, but would love to learn. My mom & sister-in-law are whizzes on the machine and I’m envious of their skills.
Rachel says
SEW ME!
Oh – with a machine I am a 1. Hand skills – 2. I would love to have a sewing machine that is easy to learn with. :)
Kate says
SEW ME! I would say I am a 4. Hope my mom’s skills rub off on me a little more so I can work my way up the scale!
HeatherKC says
SEW ME… probably a 2
Patty says
“SEW ME”
Have sewed very little in my life but want to make my own curtains. It always looks so easy and I’m willing to give it a try.
Sara says
SEW ME!!
I’m probably a 3 with Sherry. But my mom is a 10, and I aspire to get there!
Joslyn says
SEW ME! I’d give myself a 6 — thanks to my mom, who is definitely a 10
Jenn says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m a solid -.5 with lots of room for improvement! This would be life changing!
Melanie says
SEW ME!
I am a zero. Can’t sew to save my life!
Nadine Quin says
Sew me! I’m definitely a 1. But have great aspirations of grooming a 2.5!
