After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Sew Me!! I love to sew and would rate myself an 8. I need to be sewing more than I do and my old Singer has definitely seen better days/years!
Amanda says
SEW ME!
Although my grandma tried to teach me, I’m probably somewhere around a 4.
Coby Thornton says
SEW ME! I’m a 1. Maybe.
Lori Bamber says
“SEW ME!” I’m an eager but clumsy newbie.

SEW ME!
I would say I’m a 1.5. I can hand sew but need sewing lessons. I used to sew as a child on my YaYa’s machine but it’s been years and I was a kid so.. I probably was maybe a 2 at that point on your scale of sewing prowess ;) There’s a place in the town where I work where they give sewing lessons and I’ve been dying to sign up!
Amanda says
SEW ME! (Please!)
I’d say I’m somewhere between a 2-5. I used sewing machines a lot growing up, so I can whip up doll clothes, stuffed animals, and other kid-related projects, but I haven’t used a sewing machine in years, so I’m not quite sure how much my skills need to be discounted to account for my rustiness!
Salwa says
SEW ME! The only sewing skills that I have include sewing on buttons which usually fall off after about a month. I need this desperately! That, and I hate paying $5-10 everytime I need a pair of pants hemmed yo.
Kay says
SEW ME!!!
I’d rank myself as a 3 as well. I can make blankets, burp cloths, and napkins! I’m trying the Sherri fake roman shades later on this month. :)
Elle says
SEW ME!!
I have no idea how to even turn a machine on, but would LOVE to learn!! :)
Mike says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 4, which is pretty good for a guy. This would be a great addition to our household. I know my wife would love it!
Chelly says
Sew Me!…. I would probably rank my sewing abilities somewhere between a 6-8. I am self taught, but not too shabby.
sophie says
sew me! I’m about a 4, I’d say, but I generally have fun with sewing…I don’t own my own machine -I’ve been borrowing a generous friend’s second machine – an orange daisy-filled 1970s Singer! (and before that I used another friend’s 1950s Black singer with thigh pedal)….

ashlie says
SEW ME! I’m a total green bean sewer – did some in grade 7/8, and haven’t done any since! I would love to learn though!

I am probably about an 8…. but I just wrecked my machine and have been humming over a new one! This is terribly exciting! I love to quilt <3 Thanks for the chance and Merry Christmas!!
sarajane says
Probably a 9 on the seamstress scale. Yes, I could make a bag from scratch, but probably not blindfolded. (though I could make a blindfold from scratch, too.) ;o)
Sarah says
SEW ME! I’m currently a 1 :(, but learning to sew is one of my goals for 2013.
Jen. says
Sew me! I’m going to give myself my favorite quilt magazine description: “Confident beginner.” Sometimes overconfident, but I have fun!

Sew Me!
I’m probably in the 4-5 range. My mom taught quilting when I was a kid and taught me a lot, but I haven’t had my own machine in years. I need to start sewing again, all of those stuffed foods on Pinterest are calling my name!!
Amelia says
SEW ME!
I give myself a 6. It’s been a while, but my Mom made us learn to sew for 4H…and, embarassingly, my family was so into the Renaissance festival that we made our own Renaissance Festival costumes. (If I win, I’ll send you a photo)
Marcia C says
SEW ME!
I think about a 2.5 but Pinterest is always making me want to be better.
Marilyn says
SEW ME!I rank myself about a 5.
Sandi R. says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 1 but with a newborn with anticipated arrival in April 2013 I would love to learn more!
MelissaS says

SEW ME…
I’m probably a 2 on the sewing continuum but a nice machine may help me get a little higher and I’d love to make fun things for my kids :)
Nicole Y. says
SEW ME!!
I’m a 2… I can sew buttons and messy knot to keep things in place, but that’s about it. I would love to learn more though!
Amanda V says
SEW ME! I could rate myself as a 7 out of 10. I have sewed many many projects before. My most advanced project would be sewing my husband a “Where the Wild things Are” Costume! lol.
Julie says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m a 3. I’ve made a few pillows and hemmed curtains but that’s about it :)
Laura Jordan says
SEW ME!! Im a 1 but i would love to become a 10 :)

Probably a 2, but I like to think it’s the bobbins’ fault.
