***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME! Id love to be able to sew things myself instead of handing them off to my friends with machines!

SEW ME!
My grandmother was a 10++. She was a well-known and busy seamstress all of her life. My mother was not too bad herself but I am 1! I could never get past threading the needle and bobbin so that it did anything other than make a tangled up mess! I really want to learn how and this machine sounds like just the ‘easy’ ticket I need!

“SEW ME!”
I would have to say i am around a 3. I could get the machine threaded and make something simple; however when it comes to anything that requires actual skill…i definitely ask my mom to use her sewing skills and help me out! thanks for the giveaway!
Ciara says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1, but I’d love to win this so I can be a 10!
Megan M says
SEW ME!!! I am a complete novice but have so many project ideas I’d love to try out!!
darla says
SEW ME! I am probably a 4. I can sew it if I have to but wouldn’t be brave enough to take on a big project. Last thing I made was a Raggedy Ann costume for my daughter and it took me nearly a week to complete it. Turned out cute though :).
Kate says
SEW ME!
I’m a solid 5 but I’m not a detail person by nature…so most products are more of a 3…
Renee says
SEW ME!
I’m a 3, trying to move up to a 6 with more practice! I’ve been sewing toddler skirts and pajama pants for my 2yr olds lately. Sherry, you could totally make Clara some simple skirts with all your extra fabric you’re accumulating!
Ashley says
SEW ME!
I would say I am a 2 or a 3. I mean I did make a pair of shorts in high school!
Karen J says
SEW ME! I’m about a 5. Learned to sew in high school years ago. Have just started back trying to alter/mend husband and kids clothes with the hope of moving on up in ranks to a 8-10 someday.
Colleen says
SEW ME!
I am a level 1 but hoping to change that soon!
Grace says
SEW ME! Sadly, my sewing skills are a 0 (and my grandmother was a professional seamstress!), but I’d love to learn!
Heather says
SEW ME!!!
I’m a 1. Maybe a 2 if the bobbin is already threaded. I’ve signed up for a beginner class at the beginning of next year, and I’d love to have this to learn on!
Roberta Lott says
SEW ME! I’m about a three maybe, have not sewn for years, but could get into it again if I had a nice new machine.
AEOT says
SEW ME!!!!
I’m a 5. I am great with straight lines and can follow a basic pattern but there is a ton more I’d love to learn. I’m currently “borrowing” my mom’s machine, so she would love for me to win this!!
Mary says
SEW ME!
I would probably rate myself a 3. I would rate myself higher, but I need more practice with a machine. I could sew the heck out of a bag by hand, but it would take FOREVER!!!
Nicole says
SEW ME!
I rank myself about a 7 for sewing. I was taught as a young girl by my grandmother and cousin, forgot everything until my 20’s then picked it back up again. These days I sew household items and medieval/renaissance clothes for a club I belong to. Hoobah! :)
ashley says
SEW ME! I love to sew, especially for my 2 year old. Just fun to whip up something tiny. I’m just ok, but a good machine means more practicing!
Julie says
SEW ME! I would love to learn how to sew on this new machine! I have only used a sewing machine one time (under close supervision haha)
michelle f says
Sew Me!
I’m a 1 having not used a sewing machine ever!
Ellie says
Sew me!!! I’m a 1.5 on the sewing scale (I can hand sew a button or a quick fix hem and have touched a sewing machine a couple times–enough to sew kind of straight lines)
Sloan says
Sew me!! I’m probably a 2…..
Monica Bowles says
SEW ME!
I am not even on the sewing scale (a zero, since I’ve never
touched one), BUT I so badly want to learn to sew my own
pillow covers and window coverings!!!
feep says
SEW ME! Me? I’m a 1. I took home ec in middle school, but that was a long long long time ago. My wife is sadly also a 1. Sew sad right?
Lindsay Schmidt says
SEW ME! I would say I’m a 1, but I’m sure my middle school home ec skills would come back with a nice machine to use!
Alexandra says
SEW ME!! Ummmm … I’m a … 4? I can sew a bag but a wonky everything else. :)
Tanya says
Sew Me!
I’m definitely a 1. My mom tried to teach me, but after a couple of attempts she gave up on me. She claimed it was because her sewing machine was too old and complicated. I guess if I win I can put that theory to the test.
Natasha says
SEW ME!!! Definitely a 2/3 but want to get better to help fill in our new house :)
Jeanette says
SEW ME! I’m MAYBE a 1.5 – I did okay in home ec while in grade school, but that was *ahem* a few years ago now. A sewing machine is actually on my ‘want list’ right now. I want to learn to quilt and am also working on a few diy wedding projects :-)
Kim P says
SEW ME!!!!!!
I sew EVERYTHING by hand right now… even my “Anthropologie” knock off curtians… Its taking me a month of my tv time so far..
wkbruner says
Sew Me! I’m a low 2, but my wife (who this would be for) is an upward-moving 6-7.
Jayda says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m roughly a constrained 3. I can probably produce something equally wonk-tastic as a Sherry bag, but that’s mostly due to the Wonk 3000* that I use to sew. It was $40 on sale at JoAnn’s.
*Probably not actually called Wonk 3000.
Krista says
SEW ME!
I’ve been sewing since I was in grade school and would say I’m something like an 8 or 9.. But I’m sewing on an old hand-me-down sewing machine from the eighties. It’s a Singer so don’t get me wrong, it’s in great shape and still works like a charm! But the seamstress in me really wants something updated :)
Amie says
Sew ME! I was probably a 4 in Junior High and that was the last time I used a sewing machine. So I estimate that I will likely be approximately a 1 at this point in time.
Jenna says
SEW ME!
My skill level is definitely a 1, but I would love to improve it.
Shannon says
SEW ME! Totally a 3. I am pretty basic. But enjoy it!
Sonda Jordan says
SEW ME
I would say I am an 8 sewer (as in I like to sew, not the pipes that dispose of poo)
Rhiannon says
SEW ME! I’d lovelovelove to win. Making most of our gifts myself this year has left my old cheap sewing machine really sad and broken. :(
Rachel says
SEW ME!!!
I’m a 1, but I would love to improve my skillz!!!
Beth M. says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 5 and love to sew!
Jill says
Sew Me!
I am a 3 I could sew a hem and a wonky bag :)
Amber S says
SEW ME!! I’m quite the beginner and would love to advance for sure! so many pinterest ideas! :)
Melissa says
SEW ME!
I’m with Sherry. Right around a wonky bag 3!
Kelly B. says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 3 or 4. I can hold my own, then I get frustrated and quit! HA!
Gretchen says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 7 – I can follow a pattern and make some relatively complicated stuff!
Ashley says
SEW ME!!
I am about a 1.5. I can sew a semi-straight line if I can get the needle threaded.
Marie says
“Sew Me!!”
I could definitely sew a pretty spectacular wonky bag so I’m going with a 4.
Brittany says
SEW ME!
I’m in the 4-5 range, but would love to get better!
Angela Emory says
SEW ME!
I am probably around a 3, maybe 4. However, when doing button-holes I would probably be a 1.
Melissa says
SEW ME!! I am at about a .5 – I can sew buttons on things…but that’s about it! I really want to learn, so this would be great :)
