***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
Definitely a 1….but hoping to become a 10….sometime in my life!
Shelley H. says
Sew me! I am probably a 2 or 3. I have been using my mother in law’s machine for years to make drapes and purses but would LOVE to make my little girl some dresses.
MaryKate says
SEW ME!
I think that I would be about a 3 or a 4. I can try REALLY hard to sew. But its far from perfect!
Adam says
I’m definitely a 1, but I would be interested in this for my wife, who’s been wanting to “upgrade” her machine for awhile now.
J Zapata says
SEW ME!!
maybe a 1.5 :)
kate C. says
SEW ME!
Probably an 8 or 9, but I am doing all my sewing on my great-grandmother’s machine, and occasionally I do wish I had a little newer one.
Melissa says
SEW ME! I’m maybe a 2. I can reinforce a button and have done some awful halloween costume repairs, but a seamstress, I am not. Yet! :-)
Erin says
Sew Me!!! I’ve got no skills…but lots of interest!
James says
SEW ME! 4, but fading quickly.
Jodi says
SEW ME!
I am probably a 6 or 7 with 8-ish moments. I can do a few things well on my old machine, but I generally keep to pretty easy stuff. I did, however, make a ball gown once that came out beautifully!
Megan Gibson says
Sew Me….
Probably a 1…took a beginner class months ago but alas having a child makes some brain cells disappear.
Tyler says
SEW ME!
I do not sew at all but my wife has wanted a seeing machine for years so this would be perfect for her.
Claire says
Sew me!!
I would give myself a two and a half. I could probably only sew a trash bag… But a crooked blanket? I’m your girl :)
Vickie M says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 7. My latest sewing project, just finished yesterday, was a Chrismas dress for my just-turned-one-year old granddaughter. The dress was sewn from an old pattern I had that I modernized by altering said pattern. It actually turned out pretty cute!
Jennifer says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m a 3 as well. I have made several things and know how to use my dinky machine, but I would be a lot better if I had this fancy machine!
Erin O'Neil says
SEW ME!
I’m a zero but I’d like to learn!
Julie says
SEW ME! I would give myself a strong 2.
Bridget Slaasted says
Sew me!
Laura says
sew me! I’d say that I’m a 3 to a 4. Although I’ve made a dress, skirts, and even a quilt, I’m a pretty slow sewer who is lacking in some major basic skills.
Gillian says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1. I’ve been wanting to try sewing for a while now, but sewing machines are pretty darn expensive for a student!
Whitney says
SEW ME!
I’d have to rank myself a 1. I know there’s a pedal involved and something about a bobbin. But, I want to be a sewer and am always fascinated at friends who can sew. I need to learn so some diy projects can happen sooner rather than later!
Megan McC says
SEW ME! I used to be ok when I sewed alot as a kid, but now I think I’d probably be a 4 or 5…a little dust on those skills.
Sarah says
SEW ME! I am probably a 2 or 3. I can sew a straight-ish line, usually.
Heather S says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1… but I hope to move up to about a 3 and make some pillows and curtains for a nursery.
AshleyB says
Sew me! My skills are … medium? I’m pretty handy with a needle and thread, but my machine skills are iffy. I think it’s my ancient, hand-me-down machine. ;)
Mona O | Renters in Love says
SEW ME!
Definitely a zero in the sewing skills department. :(
Katie says
SEW ME!!! I think I am about a 5-6, I used to make smocked dresses for my girls when they were little. A new machine would be a great thing to have!
Jess says
SEW ME! I haven’t touched a sewing machine since high school.
Anne M says
SEW ME!!! I’m a 1 but aspire to be a 3 like Sherry!
Saskia says
SEW ME!
An international giveaway I’m over the moon!!!
My sewing skills are nothing to talk about BUT this christmas my father promised to explain everything patiently to me. As he is the one who sewed every single piece for my daughter and thats a shame!
Chelsea Davis says
SEW ME!!
I’m like a 2.7 on a sewing machine but like a 9.9 sewing by hand. Not even lying. I’ve always been very proficiant at sewing things by hand. I alter almost all my skirts and take in alot of tops because I’m slightly petite:) I can only imagine what would happen if I learned how to use a machine. I would be a sewing speedster!
Judi says
I think I would be a 4. Could probably sew a little beter with a nice machine and not the dinosaur I use now!
Anne says
Sew Me!
A 2? But I can sew on one mean button!
Emily says
SEW ME!!! Around a 3-4…my mom is a 20 and so was my grandma, I need to brush up on my skillz!
Rebecca in WA says
Sew Me! I can hem pants, so I’d go with a 3 on the scale :)
Paola T. says
SEW ME!
I’m a 4. I’m still learning, my gramma Lulu is teaching me to use hers!
Jessica Wichman says
SEW ME! I am probably a 3, that is after I finally get the thing threaded!
Ginny@ Goofy Monkeys says
SEW ME!
I’m somewhere in the 4-5 range. There are tons of things I’ve never even attempted, but I am willing to try almost anything!
Bethany LaVecchia says
SEW ME! I am more like a 7 or 8. I have sewn many dresses for my little girl and niece, and even baby bedding and duvet covers for extra money. I would love to have this machine since mine is around 30 years old!
Patty says
SEW ME!!!
I would say I’m a 2-3, but for some reason when Christmas rolls around, I like to think I can sew, so I get myself psyched up for all sorts of fun pinterest projects, just to remind myself 1/2 hr into it all that I really can’t sew – but I’m SURE this machine would help! :)
Jenn says
Sew me!!
I’d say I’m a 4. I’ve made a few things and helped my mom with some fancy stuff when I was younger. My mom actually sewed all the curtains in my parent’s house, slip covers for two couches and a chair, and my Prom dress (and it was seriously cute)! Yeah…I have big shoes to fill. :)
Katie says
Sew me! I’m a 3.5…but steadily moving up the ladder!
Karen T says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a solid 3. Straight stitches on basic things are my speed. Add gathering or intricate things (like a ruffle, or, a zipper!), and I’m out. My Mom is amazing though. She actually made my wedding dress, and has made a ton of costumes for our girls. We have a Sleeping Beauty, a Dorothy dress (Wizard of Oz), and a crazy “Nature Fairy”. I love them!
Sarah says
SEW ME!
Maybe a 2? Tried at school a decade ago, and now have a gorgeous pile of fabric in front of me which I’ve decided I could turn into Christmas stockings by hand… Good luck me x
Claire says
SEW ME! I would rate myself a 4. I’ve improved my skills while making curtain panels so they look much more nicely finished. Not about to start sewing curves though!!! :)
Anne @ Planting Sequoias says
SEW ME! Off topic, but my current Singer is a 1950’s black and gold model. It goes forward and reverse (well, when it feels like it) and that’s it! But it’s treated me well for many years. Still…
Rebecca says
Sew me!! I’m probably an 8. Having a ton of fun sewing dresses for my 10 month old! Would love a more “fancy” machine and Singers are the best!
Lena says
Sew Me! I’m a 1 but I’ve been wanting to learn.
Cate says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1, but, lucky for us, my husband’s a semi-pro!
Josh S. says
SEW ME! My wife would totally love a new sewing machine. I would consider her a a good 9 or 10 on the one she has. She’s pretty awesome at being crafty.
