***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
I’d say I was about a 5 in high school when I took sewing but now I’m probably a 3 or 4. My sewing machine was my mom’s from the 70’s and stopped working a few years ago…
Clarissa says
SEW ME!!!
I’m about a 4-5. I can make small things by hand…
Abby says
SEW ME!!
I am about a 5 (on a good day!). I’ve made some clothes for my nephew, and a teepee, but still don’t have my own machine – I’ve been “borrowing” my mom’s for a couple years. So I would LOVE to win this one!!
Amy says
Sew Me! I’m a 1, so I need an easy sewing machine to learn on. ;)
Lauren says
SEW ME!
What a great giveaway. I’m DEFINITELY a 1. I’ve never sewed a thing in my life, but I’d love to learn and this seems like just the machine with which to do that!
Mindy says
SEW ME!
I love love the idea of sewing but am definitely a 1 or 2. I have tons of sewing projects I would love to try to tackle though!
D.J. Pei says
SEW ME!
A one but wannabe 10 :)
Emily says
SEW ME! I am a 1, but I have been wanting to learn!!
Lizzie says
SEW ME!
I could be as high as a 5…at the sewing studio down the street I’ve made a mean patchwork blanket and even took in a T-shirt, but it looked like hell. Good thing no one but me will ever see those seams.
Ann says
SEW ME! Really, sew my daughter who is probably an 8 or 9 after 4 years at FIT. Currently using the little machine that could…she’s had since high school.
Jill says
SEW ME! I’m definitely a 1, can’t even sew a button back on a shirt!
Irene says
SEW ME!! My sewing skills are like a 0.5. I know nothing about machine sewing but would love to learn and this would make it so much easier!
katie says
SEW ME! i used to sew my doll clothes when i was little, but i haven’t really done anything since then, so probably a 2. i want to be able to sew though!!
Monica says
SEW ME…I am probably a 6. I can follow a pattern and have made lots of smiple things…but I do have a mom that is a 10 and can always swoop in to save any project!
BeccaK says
SEW ME!
I once made a queen-sized quilt for a friend as a (requested) wedding present. It turned out great, but it took me over a year, so I’m going to be generous and rank myself a 3.5 :)
Janette@The2Seasons says
SEW ME! I’m a 4.
Andrea says
SEW ME!
Needle and thread or hem tape please! I can’t get past threading the sewing machine to even rank my sewing skills!
Joelle says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 3, I think I could make a pretty wonky bag :)
Leigh says
SEW ME!
Im def a 1. I took home ec, was in 4-h as a kid (yeah, I admitted it.. nerd alert) and I’ve pinned everything known to man on pinterest about sewing but no machine has arrived yet.
Lisa says
SEW ME! I feel like I’m bragging, but I’d say I’m about a 9. Pre-baby, I made almost all of my clothes, and even designed and made my wedding gown.
Alexandra says
SEW ME! I’m a 7, I’ve been sewing doll clothes, my clothes, home decor, etc since I was 8 years old. It’s also time for me to upgrade my machine, I’ve had it since a freshmen in college.
Laurie says
Sew me! I would put myself at a 7. I won the home ec award at my high school – must have been for my sewing cause it definitely wasn’t my cooking!
Natasha S says
SEW ME!
Marina says
SEW ME!
Hmm, it depends on what I plan to sow. Maybe a 5, with some googling and determination I usually get the result I wan’t. Or something like it ;)
Tabbitha @ Turnip Tootsie says
SEW ME!
My mom made me taking sewing lessons in grade school, so you’d think I was awesome. But now as an adult I’d put myself around a 3 or a 4.
emily says
sew me! I think I’m an 8 of 10 until the project is mid-way finished and then I start freaking out and throw it away. Let’s just say I’m an over confident crafter!
Tammy says
SEW ME!
I’m pretty darn close to an 8. I used to work at a manufacturing facility that produced throws, pillows, and table linens. That job gave me the confidence to run circles around any sewing machine.
Erika W. says
SEW ME! I am definitely a 1, or ummm…a -1. I would love to learn though!
Brenda says
SEW ME!!
I have NO sewing experience whatsoever. BUT, back when Oshkosh B’Gosh still made their clothes here in Oshkosh (my hometown), my mom sewed clothes for them. So those mad sewing skills were probably inherited and are just waiting to bust out!
Chelsie says
SEW ME! I’m probably around a 6 or 7. I can make things, and I just figured out how to sew zippers, but I don’t have enough patience to tackle bigger projects, cut stuff out, or follow instructions. I tend to want to deviate from the pattern…
Patti says
Sew me! :)
I’d rate myself at about a 5 overall. My mom taught me to sew when I was younger, but I haven’t done it in years (I’m now 30). However, after recently getting the Young House Love book, I’ve been feeling inspired, and I just picked up some fabric to sew some throw pillow covers! I have the fabric cut and pinned; now I just need to pull the trigger and put needle to fabric!
CER says
SEW ME!!!
I’m a 1 but want to be a 10!
Lizzi says
Sew me! Not to be braggy, but probably a 7 or so. I do alright.
Claudie says
Sew Me!
I’d give myself a 5 on the scale. I learned to sew in high school and then didn’t sew anything for years (other than the occasional button or seam). Now, I find myself sewing things a bit sporadically. There’s always a sense of accomplishment once I’ve finished something and it’s not falling apart!
Andrea says
SEW ME!
I’m a 5. I can make a bag and it is only slightly wonky…most of the time.
Kate says
SEW ME!!!
I am about a 3. I have good intentions and seem to think I can do more than I actually can. But I will not give up!!!
Bree says
SEW ME!
I’m an 8.5, sewing away and loving it, but certainly not blindfolded :P
shelley says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 5. I’ve sewed curtains, pillows, and simple dresses for my two girls.
bdaiss says
Sew Me!
I wouldn’t say I’m a 10, but maybe an 8? I quilt and can sew simple clothes/bag patterns. But from scratch and blindfolded? No way. And how did you know my old standby Singer just bit the dust? Would love to replace it with this!
Stacey says
Sew me!
Amanda R says
SEW ME!
I am a 1, but my mom is a 10. Her machine broke and if I won I’d give it to her and maybe she could teach me how to use it.
Molly says
I used to be a 10 when I worked a stitcher, first hand and sometimes draper for professional theatre! It’s been a few years since I took a bit of an early retirement and I’m itching to sew again… but maybe not so many period corsets and things made out of pleather!
Ana says
Sew me! Proud 7… and rising!
Lucy says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 3.
Kate says
Sew me! I would say I am a five.
Betsy says
SEW ME! I’d say a 3 — I like straight lines!
Maribeth says
SEW ME!
Maybe a 2. I can sew on a lost button and do the most basic of straight lines. I haven’t tried to make a shaped garment but I would love to try my hand at quilting!
Bethany says
Sew me! I’m probably right around a 3, I could make a wonky bag or pillow case. My mom took up quilting a few years ago and was the same way before she started and is now incredibly talented, so I know there’s hope.
Chelsea @ Riding Escalators says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2. I think I could sew something if someone showed me how to thread the darn thing! :)
Lisa C says
Sew me!!
I think I am about a 5…I can make pillows and curtains but have given up on attempting clothes
