***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!…I’d probably rate myself a 2. I sewed myself some XXXXXXL boxers in home-ed class and I can thread a button (by hand!)…I just asked Santa for a sewing machine so wouldn’t this be jolly!
Becca says
SEW ME!
I’m between a 1 or 2.. But I’d love to get better, especially with a baby on the way!
Riva says
SEW ME! I don’t even think I’d rate a 1 on a sewing machine competence scale. Technically we had to learn to use them in junior high home ec but I was sure at the time I’d never need to do that again and promptly forgot all of it. If I could turn back time … I would take notes and keep them!
Dawn says
Sew Me! I am a 2, but my mom is a master seamstress and I would love to have my own machine to practice with so I can be as good as her!
michele says
SEW ME! I would put myself at 3- I can sew and have made some decent things, but I don’t have enough patience to really advance.
Bronwyn says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m a 2…Not used a sewing machine since school! But often find myself attaching lost buttons and stitching up holes under arms on coats!!
I would LOVE a machine to ‘up’ my crafting skills whilst on maternity leave! Maybe I could even make the new bambino something nice for her nursery!

Lisa G. says
SEW ME!

Leah says
SEW ME! I’m probably around a 5-6, but I don’t have a machine and my mother is getting really annoyed with me borrowing hers all the time, so I really really need this! :)
Holli says
sew me! i’m definitely a 1 : (
Jessie McStay says
Sew Me!! I would rank myself around a 2, since I did take a sewing class as part of Family Life Education in 7th grade. I literally hand stitch anything that needs sewing at the moment!
Sara says
Sew Me!
I’m probably at a 2 or 3 right now, although I have at previous points in my life gotten as high as a 5 (when I lived with my grandmother, who owned a machine).
Lee says

I think I’m about a 3- I’ve made a handful of dish towels, clutches, and pillow cases… :) But, I don’t currently have a machine, so this would be an awesome win!

I might be a 2, on a good day, when I have a lot of patience!
Heather Stansell says
SEW ME!!
I’m with you John…I couldn’t sew to save my life. BUT I have been dying to learn. Having a baby in Jan and will be a SAHM…need to learn so I will have something to keep me busy.
kim says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 4. And thanks for posting the link to Sherry’s banner making experience. Fun stuff! hahaha
Dani says
Sew Me! I would give myself a 3 maybe. I took a home economics class with a tiny part about sewing way back in 7th grade. That was a long time ago, but I can still set up a sewing machine and sew strait(ish) lines for something quite basic like curtains. Most of my “sewing” is done via iron-on hem tape or safety pins.
Jeanna says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a 2. Everything I learned about sewing happened in middle school home economics classes. I have all these mental aspirations though… lets hope that I can remember what that pesky bobbin is for.
Amanda T says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m probably about a 5. I can sew pillows, curtains, hem pants, etc., but I certainly have never tried anything more fancy than that! My sewing machine seems to be having problems though so I’d love to be able to continue practicing with a brand new machine!
Catherine says
SEW ME!
I am probably at a 1.5 or 2. I could probably sew a semi wonky bag, but not well!
Brittany T says
Sew me…a 2! I sewed boxers in my middle school Home Ec class, but now I’m 23 and haven’t done anything since.
Joey says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2… longing to be a at least a 7. Someday…
Laura says
SEW ME!
I’ve always wanted a sewing machine, mainly to sew my own pillowcases with different fabrics that I can switch out and finally get some cool curtains up!
Jennifer says
Sew Me! I am a 1 (if that), button sewing is my limit!
Jen says
SEW ME! I am probably about a 2. I’ve been wanting to buy a sewing machine, but it would be even better to win one :)
Mary W. says
SEW ME! I’m a 1. Or maybe a -1. My daughter wants to learn to sew so I think this might send us in that direction!
Sarah says
SEW ME!
I’m a 3, I used to be a better sewer, but moving out of my mom’s house has left me bereft of a machine…
Wilani says
SEW ME!
I wish I could say I rank a 6 or so, but thanks to my honked up machine, I’m dragged down to more like a 4 :(
Andrea says
SEW ME! I am a kamikaze sewer. I just fly by the seat of my pants. Wish I were better/more capable. My Mom is a seamstress.
Heni says
SEW ME!
A 1, unfortunately, but I’ve been dreaming of becoming a 10!
Lindsey says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a 6 or 7. I love to sew but still often have projects that don’t quite turn out as intended!
Anesha W. says
Sew me!!
At a 1.5 I could sure put in some effort trying to sew a lop sided bag!
Tasha says
SEW ME!
I’d say maybe a 5. I’ve made t-shirts from scratch, though they don’t have collars. I think I’d like to give following a pattern a try.
Ann Dyson Baker says
SEW ME!
I’m totally a 1, but I come from a long line of quilters and seamstresses, so I should have some sort of skills if I try. And if I had this machine, I would surely try! :)
Laura says
SEW ME! I’m definitely a 2.
Laura says
SEW ME!
I’m probably at a 1.5, on a good day! But I look forward to improving!
Emily R says
Sew Me!
I’d say I’m about a six or a seven. Fairly handy, but I’m not gonna sew a wedding gown anytime soon.
