***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!!! I’m definitely a 1, but I’ve been wanting to learn for a while so that I can join in the “stop pinning and start SEWING” festivities :)
Jobee says
SEW ME! I’m guessing I’m a 5, but would like to learn more.
Sharon says
SEW ME!
I am about a 3.75.
I may be over reaching……………
Christa says
SEW ME!
Despite being a girl scout and my mom roping me into a saturday sweing class (saturday class! whyyy) as a kid, I think I’m a passable 2. But hey bring on the automatic threader and one touch stich selection!
Sarah M says
SEW ME!!
Um, I’m probably around an 8. I’ve made quilts, baby play mats, clothing, etc. but BOY DO I NEED A NEW SEWING MACHINE. Ahem. Sorry. :)

Whitney says
Sew me! I am probably a negative 1. Hope I win so I can improve my skills!
Lauren says
SEW ME!!!
In my dreams I’m a 10 but due to lack of experience I’m probably more like a 1:) Both my Grandma and my mom are awesome though and it would be super fun to work my way up to their level!
Marjan says
sew me!! please!!
I am a 1, unless home ec in 7th grade counts!!
Sarah L says
SEW ME!
I would put myself at a 3-4ish on a good day. I can follow a pattern but anything complicated is not happening!
Jessi says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a solid 5. Maybe a 6.
Amanda T. says
SEW ME!
I’m totally with Sherry. I could probably make a wonky bag. I can pretty much only do straight lines. Haha! So, yeah, I’d be a 3 :)
Sharon says
SEW ME! I’m self taught, maybe a 5 or 6. I don’t really sew from patterns, but I should practice more. HOWEVER, my sewing machine broke several months ago and I haven’t been able to afford a new one. I desperately need another one as I have twins on the way and many things I’d like to sew before they arrive. That nesting problem.
Janelle says
Sew Me! I’m a 1 but would definitely love to learn more!
Shelley says
Sew Me!! I rate my self a big fat 0! I’m the perfect person to try the “easiest machine to use”.
Chelsey A says
SEW ME!
I rank myself a 2, I can sew by hand with a lot of patience, but don’t yet have a ton of real skillz with a machine. There are so many pinterest projects and princess dresses (for my five year old daughter) I’d love to give a try…IF I actually had a machine to learn on.
Amanda says
SEW ME!!
I’m probably about a 2 – I try to even avoid hand-sewing buttons on things. But my mom is totally an 11 – she used to make us outfits when we were little and she even made me a dress for one of my high school formals!
Misty says
SEW ME!
OMG. -1. I have always wished I could learn though!
Domna Evangelidou says
SEW ME!
I am a 2. I never had one of my own, although I grew around them! Mother and grandmother are 10s. Help me get better and we’ll all be sooooo proud!!
Love that this is an international drawing!
Let the sewing machine fly to Greece!!!
Sara Dean says
SEW ME! I would rank myself a 5, because I can make a lot of simple things pretty well. I still have LOTS to learn, but I’m obsessed with it.
Amy says
SEW Me! Somehow I graduated from college with a degree in Clothing and Textiles and never had to use one of these…but I’ve ALWAYS wanted one.
Libby says
SEW ME!
The only thing I can sew is a button, and I’m pretty bad at that :)
Stephanie says
SEW ME!!! I am like a -1, but hoping to get better.
Stephanie says
SEW ME!
Sadly I’m a 1 but would like to learn.
Vicki says
SEW ME!
I’m a 4 with a mom who’s a 10. I really wish I had paid more attention when I was younger!

“SEW ME!”
i am definitely a 1. but wish i was at least a 7.
Anna in Ohio says
SEW ME!
I’m like a 0.5 on the sewing skills scale. (Say that 3 times fast!)
Cheryl P says
SEW ME!!!! I used to sew all the time. Made most of my clothes in high school, but now, I’d say I’m a 4. My daughter and I are working on a puffed comforter for her, so it’s mostly straight stitching now.
Heather says
Sew me! I’m a one!
Jessica A says
SEW ME!
Jill says
Sew me! If sherry is a 3, than I’m about a 2. With this I could actually have my own machine and work my way up to a 3!
Kate says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2 but I really want to improve my sewing skills :)
Amanda says
SEW ME!
I’m a solid 1.5. I’ve used a sewing machine. Once.
Rebekah says
SEW ME!
I’m probably around 6. My mom taught me how to sew when I was really young, but I haven’t done much since!
Michele says
Sew Me!! I would saw a 7. I love to quilt, even though I stick with to straight lines only.
Alyson says
Sew me :) I’m a, let’s say, 7 or 8? I have made many things, including clothing that myself or my children have worn, but not for many years now—my sewing machine, a hand-me-down from my MIL, is only 3 years younger than me. It’d be nice to get some fresh machinery into this house!
katie says
SEW ME! By hand I’m a 5 but the machine.. A 1. Embarrased one that would be, my mom and my aunt and my grandma are all not 10 but 15 and I’m the black sheep, but their 30 and 50 years old Singers just scare me.
Ali says
SEW ME! I’m about a 5 – I can do a lot of stuff, but it takes me FOREVER.
Yarnie says
SEW ME! I say a “0” :) I wanted to learn and purchased a cheap Brother machine, which did not work from the get go. So would love a Singer!
rachel l. says
SEW ME!
i’m a 1. but give me this bad boy and i’ll be well on my way to a skilled 2 by the end of 2013.
Mandy says
SEW ME! I am a 1, but dreaming to be a 10! I would love to have this item!
K (Barking Babymama) says
SEW ME!!! I taught myself to sew, like Sherry, but I have done enough projects and even finally used a pattern for the first time to make matching Easter ties for my sons, so I would probably rate myself a 5.
Liz Zankowski says
SEW ME!! I’m like a 6. I sew all our curtains and duvet covers. I also have made our kids halloween costumes each year. But I’m hoping to get better at using patterns.
SANDRA R. says
SEW ME! I’m a 1 but I’d love to be a 10 so I can so my own scrubs (I work in a medical office)!!
Aundrea says
Sew Me PLEASE! Level 3. My mom gave me a “yard sale” find years ago, now that we have two babies I wanted to break it out and make “special” gifts. The machine takes me 30 mins. to get going at the beginning of any project. PICK ME!
Caroline says
SEW ME!
I am going out on a humility limb here (it might snap) and say I’m probably a 6? I was brought up sewing – my grandmoter is a quilter and my mother always made us dresses, so I learned to help at an early age! Recent projects include his-&-her Christmas stockings, curtains (with real hems!) for the living room, and lots and lots of pillows…
JayEssJay says
SEW ME!
After watching my mom, the expert seamstress, for so many years, I always think I’m an expert, but once I’m sitting in a mess of fabric pieces and thread, I realize that I’m probably a 4, at best!! But, a new sewing machine would do wonders… I’m currently using my mom’s old machine from when she was in college thirty years ago :)
Ty Ann Beaty says
SEW ME!! I haven’t used a sewing machine since an (almost) near death experience with one in junior high Home Ec class (jk), but I’ve been finding it increasingly difficult to sew the elaborate tutus I make by hand. Have been looking for a quality used sewing machine and would love the opportunity to win a brand spankin new one with all those bells and whistles!
Liz says
SEW ME!
I’m probs a two…made a pillow (with mom’s help). Without mama hovering, I’d knock myself down to a 1. But I’d love to learn!
Amy says
SEW ME!
I think I’m currently somewhere around a 3. I’d love to improve though!
