***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 2 or a 3…. I can make a pillow, and hem things. That’s about it though.
Haley says
SEW ME! I’m no higher than a 1.2. blah! I need to learn~!
Emilie says
Sew me! I took a couple sewing classes growing up and I can attach a button with the best of them, but I’m a little rusty on the finer points.
Nate says
SEW ME!
A 2, haven’t sewn much but think I could do decent!
Emma says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 7 or 8- I’ve made my own clothes and home goods (quilts, pillows, drapes). My little Bernette is sometimes not the best though (skipped stitches, arghhh!), I’d LOVE a Singer. I have my grandmother’s 1950’s Singer at my parents’ house but it’s a cabinet machine and not very friendly for apartment living.
rachel says
SEW ME! I’m a 2… can sew on buttons and do simple hems. That’s it!
Christine says
SEW ME!
I would rate myself at about a 4 out of 10 on the sewing scale. I recently mastered pillow covers with piping, but I’m still intimidated by zippers!
Pattie says
SEW ME!
I am a good sewer. I took my first sewing lesson at a Singer store and was in a contest in the “tween divison”. I absolutely loved it. My current sewing machine is about 40+ years old. It was my very first “grownup” purchase.
Brittany says
Sew Me! I’ve been sewing for 2 or 3 years now. I’ve only done quilts though and would love to try my hand at sewing clothes too. I’m about a 5. I can do your basic sewing great but anything fancy and I get lost!
Eileen says
SEW ME!!! :)
I am a 1 hoping to be a 5 by the end of 2013. It’s one of my New Year’s Resolutions!
Katy says
Sew Me! I’m a 2 aspiring to be an 8. I think my current hand me down machine is holding me back – it is probably 50+ years old – lol!
Jessica S says
SEW ME!
I’m pretty proficient, probably an 8, but I’d loooooove a new machine!
Erika says
SEW ME!
I would guess I’m a 2, since I think I would still mess up some of the things Sherry has pulled off! However when it comes to knitting, I’m a solid 3. My mom would be so proud…
kory says
SEW ME!
If you’re a 1 and sherry is 3, then I’m a 2, never sewed anything except a few test stitches. I believe that when I overcome the “straight line” milestone I will be able to sew anything!
Ann says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 0. I know that I learned to sew at some point in 6th grade home ec…but all of that knowledge is lost now. I’d love to relearn though!
Carol says
SEW ME! I’m a 7. My 88 year old dad even uses one of the original Singer machines to hem his pants.
Rosheen says
Sew Me!! I am 3, except when my mother-in-law is watching me sew–then I am a 10. She is an expert.
Megan W. says
SEW ME!
I’m probably like an 8 or so. I need to work on different techniques and learn how to work with a few more fabrics.
jamie says
SEW ME!
I’m mostly self-taught and have been sewing various items since I was a kid (barbie clothes anyone?). But due to frequency (or lack of), I’d probably put myself at a 5-6.
Miranda says
SEW ME!
Slowly getting better and would love to retire my hand me down machine for a new one!
Meghan Brooks says
SEW ME! I’m def. a 1!
Elise O. says
SEW ME!
I would rank myself a 2.5… My mom tried to teach me how to sew for my entire childhood but I never cared. Now I want to sew everything and can’t!
Lauren says
SEW ME! Sadly, I haven’t attempted any sewing in a long time, but back when I did sew occasionally, maybe I was a 3. But, I’ve been wanting to start up again so this would be amazing!
Jennifer says
SEW ME! I’m likely a 3 as well. But I would like to double my score and be a 6.
Laura says
Sew me!
I think I’m a 2. I have the concepts down from watching my mom sew for years, but I haven’t actually done it myself. I just borrowed her very old machine to learn on…a brand new one would definitely make that learning process easier!
chrissi says
sew me… a one who is wanting to be a two. how hard can that be?
Sara says
SEW ME!
I’m a 4 or 5. I can handle the easy stuff really well and am venturing into the harder pieces now =)
Nancy says
SEW ME!! My husband is always telling me I need to be more domestic and we’ve needed curtains in our bedroom for over a year now, the neighbors would probably really love me to win this…
Stacey says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a 1. I would love to learn, though! Great giveaway.
Kate says
SEW ME! I’m maybe a 7 but I’m a little out of practice. Looking to get back to it though, it’s a lot of fun!
Joan says
Sew me! I am a two to three. Just learning how to sew and would love a new machine that is easy.
Paige says
SEW ME! I consider myself a 1. If I had a machine, I would love to learn!
Cassie P. says
SEW ME! I’m definitely at a 1, but really want to learn!
Holly says
SEW ME!
A 2, maybe. One of my goals for 2013 is to learn to sew and knit.
Meagan {Green Motherhood} says
Sew me! I’m a 2. I can turn the thing on but can’t sew a straight line! I’m with Sherry, that.damn.bobbin.
Amanda says
SEW ME! I’m going to say i’m a 1.5….sewing runs in my blood as both my mother and grandmother were seamstresses. Most of my childhood memories include homemade dress-up costumes and quilts. I can’t say I’ve ever actually sat at a sewing machine as an adult, but I feel compelled to carry on the tradition for my children.
D. Dallas says
SEW ME!
I’m probably about an 8 on sewing skills, both my grandmother and mom would be 10’s.
Lia says
I’m a tentative 7.
Dayna says
Sew Me! I’m a 0. I’ve always wanted to learn though. Being able to see opens up so many possibilities… Curtains, pillows, bedding….
Dayna says
Oops! I meant sew!
Callie Wolk says
SEW ME! I’m definite a novice in the sewing department but it’s soemthing I’m dying to learn!
Melanie says
SEW ME!
I’m a 3 as well but I’d love to give this to my mom…she’s an 9 with a machine that barely works!
Haley says
Sew me! I am a 4 because I took a few classes which really helped!
Kelly says
SEW ME!
I’d be a 1, more like a 0 though. I haven’t really touched one before in my life but my mom is a pro at it!
Suzanne says
Sew me.
Beth says
SEW ME!!!
I would be sew happy to win this!!!!!
Laura says
SEW ME! I cannot sew but would love to learn! My mom and sis are great at it!
Shawna says
SEW ME!
I’m an aspiring 5. But an actual 0 :(
Erika says
SEW ME!
I’m a 3; I can mend things and make simple stuff, but anything involving an, er, involving pattern is still a bit out of my range. My husband, on the other hand, is closer to a 5. He’s made actual clothing from actual patterns and keeps talking about getting a sewing machine. Wouldn’t this be perfect?
Sara says
SEW ME! One a scale of 1 to 10 about probably a -2. I’ve never sewn anything before. But I desperately want to learn! It’s on my bucket list.
Connie says
SEW ME!
It’s been so long I don’t know where I’m at on the scale, but I used to be pretty good. I used to make lots of things with my old sewing machine: a pretty intricate cabbage patch like doll (movable limbs and head), clothes for my kids and myself, things like that, but after my machine broke I haven’t sewn a thing. I’m probably a 5 or 6. I love this giveaway! Thanks guys!
