***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

I would say I am about a 6. I can sew crafty things well but have never attempted clothing.
Angie says
SEW ME!
I’m a 3 with the dreams of a 9 and the patience of 1. It is a problem.
Amanda says
SEW ME!
A 3-8 depending on the day and who I am with. If I am home alone definitely a 3, if I am having a sewing party with my family an easy 8!
Ryan says
SEW ME!
I’m a 0!
Virginia says
SEW ME! I’m a 5-7…know enough to get by with pillows and curtains and simple projects. I made some cute felt house Christmas Ornaments by hand this year. Very fun! Would LOVE to win this awesome sewing machine! It would get a lot of use in my house!
Sarah K. says
SEW ME!
I’m maybe a two… My mom taught me a couple things and I got the hang of it pretty quickly, but that was years and years ago. And only once.
Bethany says
SEW ME! I’m probably around a 5. I used to sew skirts for myself. And actually wore them to school. Yes, I was (and still am) a nerd.
HeatherV says
SEW ME!!
I am definitely a 2 but aspire to be so much more!
JoLyn says
SEW ME!!
I am probably about a 7, love sewing!

Lynnette says
Sew Me!
I’m about a 4. We love to sew at our house but our sewing machine is on the blink…sad.
Jenny G. says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 6 or 7. I love to sew and quilt, but I’ve REALLY outgrown the capabilities of my crappy big box store Brother machine. My dream is actually to open an Etsy shop one day, but there’s no way my current machine could handle it. Winning a new one would help me accomplish my goal!
Courtney says
SEW ME! I’m a 1, but I’ve always wanted to learn!
Connie M says
SEW ME!
I love this giveaway – Thanks John and Sherry!
I’m probably a 4 or 5 on the scale. I haven’t had a machine to sew on for a couple years now and I’ve been looking around for a new one!

Sew me!
I’m not even on a scale…sewing has been known to reduce me to tears of frustration (that darn bobbin…) But I dream of conquering the sewing machine some day!
Allison says
SEW ME! I’m embarrassed to be a one, but I dream of one day being a five!
Amanda says
Sew me!
I’m going to give myself a 2…I’ve sewed straight lines, but I can’t set up the machine myself!
Juliette says
SEW ME!
I can sew something together to last approx one evening. By midnight my sewing will fall to pieces and you have to be rushing home!
Paige says

Paige says
SEW ME!
I feel like I have potential…I just don’t own a machine ;-)
Ginny Ellis says
SEW ME! I’m a pure 1, a newbie. But, I already have a spot of honor in my craft room if it is willing to let me learn!
Rebecca says
SEW ME! I learned to sew in 4-H about 40 years ago and haven’t had a machine since. I’ve borrowed others in the meantime and discovered how much I have forgotten, so, yeah, about a 3 on the wonky bag scale.
Lili says
Sew ME! It would actually be for my 9 year old daughter who has been begging me for a sewing machine ever since she took lessons this summer in camp. I am a zero on a one to ten scale, and I think she is probably a 1-2 ish.
Pamela Ross says
SEW ME! I’d rate myself a 5. The self threader sounds too good to be true.
Floriane says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 5. I made some clothes and can follow a pattern but I use my grandma’s machine which is slowly dying. I’d love this one!
Jane B. says
“SEW ME!” I am definitely a 1, but have fantasies that I think I could be really, really good at sewing if I only had a good sewing machine and some lessons. Oh, the things I could make and the fabrics I could use and the wonderful handmade treasures I’d give away. What a fun giveaway. Maybe I’ll win…
MWorg says
SEW ME!
A modest 3, with hopes of working my way up the scale!
Jessica says
SEW ME!
I’d be a 2, if you include hand sewing.

nuff said.
Stephanie R says
SEW ME!
I’m probably about a 2.5 – I’ve only used (questionable) second hand machines, and about half way through a project I’ll give up and just finish it by hand…
Ashley N. says
SEW ME!
I have ZERO sewing skills… I really need to learn though. I think my mom’s getting tired of doing it all for me!
Belinda Stone says
SEW ME!! Probably a 3 at best, but there is always hope, right?
James Hopkinson says
SEW ME!
I have never sewn before so I’m a 1.
Dina says
SEW ME!
In sewing I’m a 1. But I think I could be at least a 2 or 3 with this new sewing machine.
Haley says
SEW ME! I would rank myself as a 1. I have taken 2 lessons and told I have a knack for it, but I couldn’t thread the machine on my own to save my life. Seriously, if there’s a “diffuse the bomb” situation that involves me threading the it, you should all call your family and tell them that you love them one last time. :)
Hailey says
SEW ME!!
I am probably a 3. I sewed through (yes through!!!) my finger when I was seven, so I have been a little nervous since then. I can make a button hole and have made curtains. If it doesn’t actually have to fit a human being, I can probably deal with it!
Jennifer says
SEW ME!!!!
I would probably rate myself a 5 or 6. I can sew pretty well, but am dying to learn to really read patterns and take it to the next level. I am a sculptor and sew most of my work, but I limp along on old freebie machines…
Lauren says
SEW ME! I’m a 5…I’ve sewn some clothes and home dec stuff, and they look great as long as you don’t turn them inside out or look too closely!
Julie says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1 or 2 but really want to improve. I would love to take it up as a new hobby!
Francis C. Moore says
SEW ME! I am a quilter so I consider myself proficient using the sewing machine.
Kate says
SEW ME!
I’m a textile conservator for historic textiles, so I’m pretty darn good at hand stitching (8.5). But with a sewing machine? Haha, I’m probably a 3 on a good day. I’d love to become better!
Andrea says
SEW ME!
I would probably say that I am a 1. Or a negative 1. Probably negative. I can’t sew to save my life! But I’ve always wanted to learn.
Anne says
Sew me!! I’d rank myself as a 2 with the potential for 4 or 5 with some serious practice.
Jane says
Sew me!
Melanie says
SEW ME! I’m a 1.. or 0, really. this would certainly bring that number up!
Jo says
SEW ME!!!!
HURRAY for a giveaway that ships worldwide so I can enter from the UK!!! Wouldn’t it be gutting if someone who lives around the corner won?!
I’d rate myself a 2…having just made my son the most amazing Christmas stocking, which raised me above a 1! The whole process was heavily supervised but totally successful!
Michelle says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1, but I’d love to learn!
Amanda C says
SEW ME!!!
At present I’d rate myself a 1, thought back in my home ec days, I was a solid 7. I’d love to give it another go though, and maybe someday quilt, like my grandmother did.
