***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

“SEW ME!” I’m a 2
Maura says
Sew Me! I’m about a 3 or 4, but I could hopefully improve if my very ancient sewing machine actually worked!
Lchris says
Sew me!! I’m a 6 on a good day. Do it for myself, so that’s good enough…
Nickie Rouleau says
SEW ME :)
I would say I’m about a 5 — I’ve sewn plenty of things but not really an expert.. I like to make up my own thing.
Neena says
Sew me! I’m probably a 3. I can make a wonky bag, but not too much more than that!
Natalie says
SEW ME! I’m a 5!
Renee says
SEW ME!
I’m a newbie. I have tried, but for some reason sewing a straight line has been my greatest challenge!
Carla says
Sew me! A 3 on a good day!
Carly S says
Sew me!
I think I’d give myself a solid 6. I can sew a pretty decent duvet cover, pillow case or curtain and I’ve even ventured into sewing Halloween costumes from scratch a few times and (somewhat) succeeded! Next up, learning to quilt!
Carrie Mattson says
SEW ME!!!! :)
I rate about a 5. I can sew a simple curtain but that’s about it!
hollie says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 3.5 :)
Kassy says
Sew me! I took lessons in 7th grade and it wasn’t pretty. Trying to pick it back up again!
Lillian says
SEW ME!
I learned to sew 2 years ago and I really enjoy it though it can be a bit frustrating sometimes. So much ironing and math involved! I’m a 5.
Everyone’s getting stitched-by-me Christmas gifts this year!
Jenny H. says
Sew Me! I’m a 1, but I aspire to be a 10 someday!
KB says
SEW ME! Oh gosh – I might be a -1? In middle school my Home Ec heart pillow looked like a worm with a 90-degree angle in his midsection.
Howeverrrr, I have been wanting to change that, and winning this contest would be a great start :)

SEW ME
I’m maybe a 3 or a 4. I can sew a straight line and can make some cute gathered flowers. Have mad a purse or two….my downfall is I dislike measuring.
candice q says
SEW ME!! I would say 3 is where I stand :) I went through years of sewing class in school but I would get Mom to do most of my homework!!
Heather says
SEW ME!
I’d rank myself a solid 2. There is nothing profound about my sewing skills, that is for certain
Katherine says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a 1….maaybe a 2!
Breanna B. says
SEW ME!
I think I’m a 5? I can do basic stuff, but I don’t do it enough to get really comfortable…partly because my little machine is junk! Hope I win!
Lisa says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2…maybe a 3 on a good day.
Stacey says
SEW ME!! I would consider myself a 2. I can crochet and fix holes/buttons with a needle & thread. But if I had a sewing machine, I would have great reason to improve!
Dena says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2. I’ve never used a sewing machine before, but I recently took the pile of clothes with missing buttons or ripped seams and repaired them all. Haha, so really I am a 1, I just like to think that I could probably figure it out (youtube tutorial videos changed my life!) Learning how to sew would be so fun!
Maura says
SEW ME! I’m a three and hopefully improving with each project!
Kelly V says
SEW ME! Probably a 5 if the scale is 1-10…
Emily says
SEW ME!!! I would say I’m a 2 on the sewing scale. I made a VERY simple blanket for my soon-to-be born son with help from my hubby. We finished the blanket and the machine broke- literally, last stitch and… kaput. Fast forward 5 years: we now have a second son and I got as far as buying the materials for his blanket (*blushing*, 2 years ago) but never got the machine fixed. I would LOVE to relieve some maternal guilt and actually finish the blanket!
Zhaleh says
SEW ME! Probably closer to a 3. I can sew straight lines which has successfully helped me sew curtains, pillows and hem. But I sew infrequently, such that for each new project I need to look at the manual to figure out how to put the thread in correctly.
Stephanie says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 3, I took sewing classes when I was younger but quit after I sewed my finger ;) I’ve picked it up again recently, no finger sewing incidents yet!
Emily H says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 7 or so, considering I did costuming in high school and made some formal dresses, but my sewing machine (a.k.a. My mom’s sewing machine) is 8 hours away with her. I’d love to have my own!
Lisa says
‘Sew Me’
Ooh I lurk between a 2 and 5. With a bit of guidance and help I can achieve sewing awesomeness :)
Nikki says
SEW ME!
Can I say I’m a 0? I’ve wanted a sewing machine for so long so I could learn / practice but we’ve never had the spare cash to pick one up!
Kell says
SEW ME!
I am online with Sherry, around a 3, I recently took a beginning sewing class, so I am on my way to improving, but a new machine would help out a lot!
Robin C. says
Sew me!! I think I’m a 3 or so, but lower on that crazy-looking, high-tech machine!
kami m says
Sew me!!! Im gonna say 5- nothing amazing but i can get around a sewing machine fairly well.
LibbyS says
SEW ME!
haven’t used these skills since home-ec days
garin says
SEW ME!
I’m going to go with a solid 7.
Heather says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 4 or 5. My grandma taught me how to sew eons ago, but I haven’t used the skills in forever. I’d love to be able to get back into the habit!
Angie says
SEW ME…I’m a self-diagnosed 3 or 4. I quite like sewing, but am poor at finishing projects :/. I would love to get better at it on this pretty machine!!
Brandy says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1.
Andrea T says
SEW ME! I’m a 3, but up to now have always needed Mom’s help to thread her machine. Would love to test out this more approachable one!
Tiffany Dean says
SEW ME!!!
I am probably a progressing 3 : – )
Karen T. says
SEW ME!!
I am most definitely a 0, as in I have NEVER used a sewing machine. My mom does incredible things with a sewing machine, and I have been getting the itch to try my hand at it; maybe this is just the start I need!
Adrienne says
SEW ME! I haven’t sewed since 8th grade home ec, but I’ve watched enough project runway in my life to bump me up to at least a 2!
Sara says
SEW ME!
I’m around a 3-5. Sewn curtains, quilts, pillows, a few clothes? But good definitely use a new machine and learn a few more things.
Jillian {Her Split Ends} says
SEW ME! I’m definitely a pillow, hem kinda girl in the sewing department.
YEAH!
~ Jillian
Nicole says
SEW ME!definitely a beginner. I still have to Google the steps to thread a machine.
Amber L. says
SEW ME! I’m a 1 and have been dying to have a machine so I could actually do all those projects I’ve been talking about for years and actually get better at sewing.
Cindy says
Sew Me!! I’m about a 4/10 on the sewing scale. My machine gets tangles all the time, making me frustrated, so maybe I’d get more practice with a fancy new machine!
Kellie says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 4-5. I took some lessons when I was younger and I’ve borrowed my mom’s a few times recently to see what I could still do but I would love to have my own!
Megan says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m a 5’er. Never had a real lesson or class, but I can make almost decent bags and dresses.
