***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
I’m around a 1.5. Very basic skills, mostly sewing machines terrify me. But I want to be a 10!
Sarah says
SEW ME! I think I’m a 3 on the sewing spectrum :)
Kelly M says
SEW ME!
I think I’m a very generous 4. But I’ve never had a sewing machine of my very own before, so maybe if I win I can get some practice in and finally achieve a 5 or even a 6 :)
Jennifer Rocco says
SEW ME!!! When it comes to sewing, I am maybe a 5. I love messing around with different projects, but I don’t have a sewing machine of my own!
liz says
SEW ME! I am probably a 2 or 3. My grandma taught me when I was little, and I made a few cute things a long time ago, but it’s probably been almost 15 years.
Kellie says
SEW ME!
I can handle a wonky bag. Maybe a pillow. So I’m right there with Sherry at a 3, probably. Maybe a 2.
Katie says
SEW ME!
I would probably be a 2. I am currently attempting to make a t-shirt quilt, however none of my lines are straight and it has sat half-finished in my office for months. But I WILL finish it.
Heather says
SEW ME!
Maybe a solid 2. I’ve made a few pillows over the years, but never past the age of 12 and all with the help of my mom. I’m sure that sewing machines have changed just a tad since then!
Rebekah Kessler says
Sew Me!!!
im about a 3.8
Kristen H says
SEW ME!!
I’m probably around a 3 on the sewing spectrum. I can sew a pillow case or some curtains, but would like to graduate to sewing clothing someday!
Sarah says
SEW ME! I would Love to have this, I am probably a 6 :)
Caitlin says
Sew me!!
Definitely a 2/3, however, a sewing machine is on my Christmas list. The last real sewing I did was when I was 12 – made a quiclt with my aunt, but it was definitely more her sewing and me watching.
Laura McFarland says
SEW ME!
I would probs rank myself pretty close to the bottom. We’ll go 1.5. I can sew a somewhat straightish line, but if I had an awesome possum sewing machine, I could see myself just exploding with neato sewing craft fever!
Tracy says
SEW “pick” me I’m around a 4 and I love, love, love to sew. Sew please pick me.;)
Becky says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 1.5. I can fix a button, and can sort of kind of hem pants by hand. But using a machine or sewing anything particularly useful? Hasn’t happened yet! I would love to learn.
Jennifer JJK says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 3 on the sewing scale! I think I could jump up to a 6 with this thing!
IWannaBeKate says
SEW ME!!
Probably a 3? Although with a machine, a 1 :)
Caitlin says
SEW ME!
I made a quilt for my grandmother a few years ago and my old sewing machine was such a bear to work with that I haven’t gone back to it since. I need a new machine!
Sandra says
Sew me! I am likely a 1.5. I can reattach a button and my mom taught me how to sew a straight line when I was little but that’s where it ends. I have been dying to get a machine and have my friend teach me how to make pillows and hem curtains, but there are so many other things to spend $$ on!
Cassondra says
Sew me!
Sewing for me almost always ends in crying because my mom is way better than me and I feel incompetent lol, it is a vulnerable activity for me. I’ve asked for a sewing machine for Christmas the last couple of years, hoping to add it to my list of conquered DIY tasks and maybe now that I’m married and out of the house I can get through it without kleenex!
Maura says
SEW ME! I used to probably be a 4.5-5, but since i haven’t really sewed in 6 years I’d have to say I’m back down to a three or so!
Susan says
Sew me! I’ll rank myself at a 6 – I have minimal experience but I’m good at figuring things out and producing professional looking results, so I’d guess my bag would have a few bells and whistles and be sans “wonkiness” but take a looong time to produce ;)
Stephanie P says
SEW ME! I took a sewing class in high school and I think I’d say I’m around a 2 but I’d love to get my own to practice!
katie t says
SEW ME!
Tracie says
Sew me!
I’m right up there with you as a 3. I can make small pillows, sew a hem, and sew on lost buttons but that is about it!
Amy says
Sew me!!!!!! Maybe a 4 on a good day with lots of sighing.
MBD says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 0, but am dying to learn!
Megan says
SEW ME!!
I would say I am an 8. I started sewing last year and I have surprised myself and even my husband who now laughs that I told him I wasn’t crafty when we first started dating. :-)
Kay says
SEW ME! Probably a 3 like Sherry. I’ve been wanting a sewing machine forever but could never justify the extra $…would love to win this (and sew some curtains and pillows to start, I think I could handle that!)
TD says
SEW ME!
I’d say about a 3 so far.
Liz says
SEW ME!!!
I’m probably about a 5. I can make some nice even pillow cases and curtains. I’ve even made a onsie for my infant using one of his daddy’s old t-shirts. But when something goes wrong with my machine, I give up and put it away for months hoping it will magically fix itself.
Sari says
Sew me! I used to be a 6 but I am really out of practice so right now I am probably a 3-4. I learned and still sew on the machine my dad bought for my mom as a wedding present (romantic huh?) 30 years ago. I’ve heard the new machines are awesome!
sheila says
SEW ME! definitely a 1 or zero. this would be great to learn with!
Michelle says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1 but the creativity inside of me and my love for fashion means someday, I want to be at least a 5! :)
Kelly says
Sew Me!
Definitely a 1. (Are there lower options out there? I need a lot of help.)
Brandyn says
SEW ME!
Hmmm. I haven’t used a sewing machine since I was probably 10 or 12, but since I’ve previously used one I’ll give myself a 2.
Sara M says
SEW ME! I am a sewing machine virgin. But, a small mender is on my Christmas list this year. I will learn…if only given the opportunity!!!
Jess says
Sew me! In times of great desperation, I can sew on a button.
Stacy says

Rachel says
This freebie is SEW ME!
I’m a 2, and have a sewing machine on my Christmas list (although not in this price range), so I’d be SEW psyched!
Lindsay says
SEW ME!!!
I have never sewed ever but am DYING to learn!! I could make some sweet things with sewing skillz.
Vickie says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2.
JEFF says
SEW ME!
I AM 7/10
NancyO says
judging by my pinterest board, you would think my sewing skills are a 9. But … the only sewing experience I have is sew tape. I’m dying to make pillows, sewing a quilt and so much more.
NancyO says
oops .. I forgot “SEW ME” in the beginning
Jenna says
Sew me!! I’m somewhere in the 5 to 7 range, depending on how finicky my mother’s old sewing machine is feeling!
Kathleen says
SEW ME!
Beginner here…a true 1. But that beautiful sewing machine has inspired me to leave my first reply ever! My goal is to become a 3-4 by the end of next year. Happy sewing, everyone!
