***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

So SEW ME!!!!
This machine is awesome. I am a sew, rip out, sew, rip out, kind of sewer.
Maybe this machine will help. Take me from a 3ish sewer to a 10+ sewer.
Kaitlyn says
SEW ME!
Probably a 2 or a 3… Every now and then I get inspired to create something beautiful. About half-way through the project I pack it in in frustration, then pull it out again a couple of days later and plod through with it for an invariably wonky product! Sloooowly getting better though!
Kristy says
Sew me! I made some pretty awesome curtains for a 1970’s camping trailer once…so that pretty much makes me a pro. Or more likely, about a 2.
Alex says
SEW ME!
My sewing skills are something around a 3: I can sew pretty much anything by hand, and I’ve used a sewing machine before, but that was a long time ago and I would really like to get back to that, because sewing a bag by hand would take a loooong time.
Gina says
SEW ME!! I’m probably a 2. I want to be a 10 though!! ;)
Alissa G says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a 1, but I have aspirations of becoming at least a 3. Maybe a better machine will give me some motivation. :)
Claudia says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 0 pushing 1…. I might manage a straight line but I have no clue how to set up the machine, so there’s definitely a need for practicing.
Gretchen says
SEW ME! I’m not SEW great (wink wink), but I’m improving!!!
Ann Marie says
SEW ME!
Sadly, I am a 1. I would love to be a 10!
Kelly says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 6-7. My grandmother taught me how to sew on an old old machine that she inherited from her mother in law, the kind that could be folded away inside of the table. She and I did many projects together and I consider this among my most useful skills! When she passed away i inherited her sewing machine.
Jen R. says
‘Sew ME Please’!!!
I am definitely a 1 but have been attempting to learn for years.
Shannon Kubasta says
SEW ME!!!
I don’t think that I have even touched a sewing machine since high school, but back then I would say I would rank around at least a 7. (It helped that if I ever had a question my mom was around and she is definately a 10 when it comes to sewing). However it has been many years since HS so I would now rate myself around a 2 or maybe 3 on a good day.
Betsy says
SEW ME!
When I’m not out of practice, I’m a solid 5. Right now, probably 3 1/2, 4.
Candie says
Sew me! I’m a 3, like Sherry. I have mastered the pillow, though! Straight lines…straight lines! ;-)
Carrie says
SEW ME! I am definitely a 1!!
Amanda Smith says
SEW ME!!
I’d say a 3 too. I can sew but it usually requires quite a bit of passionate muttering..and tears..and sometimes blood.
sally says
“SEW ME” I’m not a bad seamstress, probably a 7. Don’t get to sew as much as I want due to an OLD machine…so I would love to win!
Dana says
SEW ME! I’m around a 1. Would love to get better!
Thad says
Sew me! Currently everything that I sew is done by hand, having a machine would move me dramatically up the scale!
Wendy L says
SEW ME!!
Can you be a -3?? Hahaha!
Brooke P says
SEW ME! – Oh, such a level one, like a young skywalker w/no clue that there is even such a thing as the force.
Cynthia says
Sew me!!! I would guess I’m a 2 with great aspirations of slowly working my way up the ranks… would love to become a 10 one day!
Alana says
SEW ME! I am probably a 3 as well.
Katie T. says
SEW ME!
My mother and grandmother are both fantastic at sewing, but I would say I’m probably closer to the 2-3 mark since I dont have my own sewing machine. I do love sewing though and I’d love to improve!
erika h. says
sew me! i’m probably not even ranked, i can sew a button on and that’s about the extent of it. heat n’ bond and fabritac are my two best buds, would love to learn to actually sew :)
Olivia says
SEW ME!
4, I can follow a pattern or create something basic from scratch.
LCA in RIC says
Sew me! I’ve sewn a pillow (with a zipper!) But that’s it. Looking to tackle a quilt one day, though!
Amy says
SEW ME! I am maybe a 3 as well.
Elizabeth says
Sew me! I’m a proud number 3. I would be sew happy to be able to finish a bag (wonkiness and all) but too embarrassed to actually use it in public :)
Anne says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1!
Alicia says
SEW ME!!!!
I think I am between a 4-5 but trying very hardly lately to improve that!
Anna says
SEW ME- Oh my, I want to win this! I learned basic sewing skills when I was a teenager and then nothing until I made some wonky curtains a few months ago on a borrowed machine. I would LOVE to get more practice and be able to customize curtains, furniture, decor etc. to my taste!
Caitlin says
SEW ME! I might be a 5… I sewed homemade Christmas stockings last year… they weren’t great… but they got some compliments!
Whitney says
SEW ME!! I’m probably close to a 3 or so. I took a costume making class in college and learned quite a bit but I’ve forgotten some over the years!
Abigail Martin says
SEW ME!
Hmmm…I would rate myself a 3. Curtains, duvet covers, simple pillows. Maybe with a sewing machine that works I could start pushing up on a “5” rating! WOOT WOOT!
Solange Morrissette says
SEW ME!!! I would say I’m an 8…love to make curtains, clothing, Halloween costumes. So excited!
Ashley Meadows says
Sew Me!!!
I am terrible, but I would love to learn more!
Nicole S. says
Sew me! I am a zero, probably. I sewed a tiny but with my mom when I was really little, but I was scared if the foot pedal!
Keri says
SEW ME!
Can we go into negative numbers? I have literally never touched a sewing machine, but I want to learn!
Hannah says
Sew me! I’m a three, like sherry, wahee! Love you guys :)
Juliann says
Sew Me!
I’m a 1…maybe less? But I’ve been bugging my mom to teach me!
Allisen says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a three. My sewing machine doesn’t give me heart palpitations and I can sew a mean pillow cover, but anything more than that is above my pay grade!
Libby says
SEW ME! I would be SO excited if I won!! I ramk myself at about a 4ish… Just made my godson’s christmas stocking and it turned out pretty well. I am currently using my mom’s 1980s sewing machine and a new one would be fantastic!
Anna Nillo says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2. I can do some basic stitches learned from HomeRec but I’ve never used a sewing machine in my life but I’ve always wanted one. I see so many sewing projects on Pinterest that I would love to try.
Kaylan says
SEW ME!
On your scale, I’d say a 5-6. I can sew basic clothing items, but nothing too complicated. My mom, on the other hand, could whip you up a wedding dress if you needed :-)
Danielle says
Sew Me!
I’m a solid 5 thanks to my Gram who helped me make clothes growing up. I know my way around a sewing machine for DIY curtains, etc, but definitely am far from pro status.
Carrie says
SEW ME!!!
Would love to upgrade my tired sewing machine!!
Randee J. says
SEW ME!!!
I’m definitely a 1, but with this machine I could move up that scale!
tammy says
SEW ME!
I’d rank myself at a 5. I can whip out quite a bit, but I’ve never actually learned how to *properly* do it, so a real seamstress would probably twitch if she saw anything I made!
Veronika says
SEW ME!
I would describe my sewing skills as a 4 and I am in need of a new machine because my old one (very old – inherited from my grandma) broke, so sad :(
Love from Germany!
