***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
I’m a 1, very motivated to increase rank. I always promised myself whenever I become pregnant with a girl, I’ll learn to sew. I have very fond memories of my mom sewing my clothes and special occasion dresses, and I really wanna be able to do the same for my baby girl. Since I’m due in April I gotta win!

Sew me!!!
I’m a self taught 3 or 4 at the most.
Sarah says
SEW ME!
like a 4…
Leannej says
SEW ME!!
I like to think that I’m around the 5-6 range. I’ve made numerous things without patterns, but I definitely sew better with patterns! thanks for the chance!
Abi says
SEW ME!
I am probably a 4. With the right machine, I am sure my skills will improve.
Ashley C. says
Sew Me! I’m a 1, but I want to learn how to sew!
Kristen says
SEW ME!
I would say I probably fall in the 3 range as well. I had a few lessons in college, but I tend to play it pretty loose with the rules :)
Janet says
SEW ME! I’d have to say I’m a 1… or maybe a 2 if my mom is watching over my shoulder (she’s a 10!!!).
Marge says
SEW ME!
Cathy says
SEW ME! I am a 4 probably. I sewed my curtains in dining room and kitchen- with my sister’s help! She is a 10.
Pam says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 7 or 8. I would sew a lot more, but I’m using my grandmother’s old Singer machine from the 1950s! No kidding! I could reeeeaaaaallllly use a new Singer!!!

SEW ME!
I rank myself a 3. My mom is a 10. This is actually something that brings my mom and I close. She taught me to make blankets for my baby when she was born and we’ve been making a list of things to make. She ever comments that she made this for me as a child.
Chrystin says
SEW ME!
I’m a zero…no sewing experience, but I’m tired of having my mom sew the things I need and ready to have one of my own!
Megan says
SEW ME! I used to sew when I was younger so I would give myself a 3 or 4
Lyndsey says
SEW ME!
I have no sewing skills and I can’t wait to learn now to sew. I really want to learn so I can make things for my baby boy. My sister in law has mad sewing skills and I am always jealous of her talent!
ShannonUK says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 6. I do okay but there’s lots to learn. A good machine could bump me up to 7/8. Great giveaway!
Erin says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m currently a 1-2!
Juliana says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a solid 6!
Melissa says
SEW ME! I would be a.5. I am an excellent “ripper” of things I have messed up.
Rebecca says
SEW ME! I’m a 1-1/2. I can sew a button, and even sew up a hole in the underarm on a shirt, but don’t look at the back side it will be a bunch of loop threads and zig-zags and uneven stitches. Okay, maybe just a 1 then…
Jillian says
SEW ME!
Sara says
Sew me! I’m probably a 2… But I was a 0 last year (as in, couldn’t even sew on a button by hand!), so I’m pretty proud. This machine sounds awesome!
Valerie says
SEW ME – 1 :)

SEW ME!!!
So far, I am a hem tape kinda gal. I would like to improve my sewing skills (I can sew a straight(ish) line but I can’t promise the back won’t look jacked up). ;)
tsmith says
SEW ME! I would say I am somewhere between a 2 and a 3. I have made a couple of things and they have turned out kind of wonky. I would love this to help me fake my way into sewing some things!!!!
Morgan says
SEW ME! 2 years ago I had a few basic sewing lessons with my Grandma. And then over time I have figured a few things out. I would say I’m a 5 (on a good day). I’ve got the basics down, but still have lots to learn!
Kate says
SEW ME! I would say a 5, but I would definitely like to improve.
Raquel says
SEW ME! Oh, I’m no more than a 3 also. I’m scared to try to sew a zipper, but am trying to be brave this Christmas. Do lessons come with the machine?
Nicola Hill says
SEW ME!
I am a 2 maybe? I currently do all my sewing by hand, because my machine is very old fashioned and I have to change the plates if I want to change the stitch, and I am too lazy to do that. So all my quilts take months to make, but are full of LOVE.
Pamela says
SEW ME!
I’m GOOD, but I need my glasses.
Erin D says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2. I’ve sewn before, but can’t remember how to thread the bobbin!
Christina @ the "i can't decide" blog says
SEW ME!!!!
For my skillz (yes, that’s a z)…I’m definintely a 5. Like, a solid 5. As in, I can re-upholster the crap out of pillows, but that’s just a friggin’ square. So, maybe a 4. I can’t sew costumes or clothing, unless it was a square…then we’re good. LOL!!
Kate says
SEW ME!! I want this sew bad :] I am probably a 1 or 2, and I base that on my A in junior high home ec. and ability to “frankenstein” dog toys back together…
Em says
Sew Me! I think I’m a low 3, I can make cushions, curtains and bunting but a dress might be a struggle!
Sonja says
SEW ME!
Yup it’s me & Sherry. 3’s all the way. I’ve sewed a little but I need a TON more practice.
Wenda says
SEW ME!!! Probably about a 2 but I would love to learn more!
Kim P says
SEW ME!
Elisabeth Lyons says
SEW ME!!
I’d say I’m about a 7. I can sew and did a lot…until my machine broke so this would be perfect!
AntiCookieCutter says
Sew Me! I’m a life-long sewer, maybe a 9, and that is why I would love this great machine.
Allison N. says
SEW ME! I would rank myself at about a 2 because while I’m new to machine sewing, I am not new to sewing or any sort of crafting. I’m slowly but surely rocking my way through my very first tote. And I’m loving it :)
Marci says
SEW ME!!!
I am still learning but have managed to make several things for my son’s nursery.
Rachel says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m probably around a 5. I’m no expert, but I can follow a pattern if I’ve got one. My mom made all of my and my sister’s Halloween costumes growing up, and she taught us how to cross stitch, hand-sew, and use the sewing machine. I used to make all sorts of clothes and bedding for my Beanie Babies, and I also made a ton of clothes for my American Girl Dolls. I don’t have a sewing machine of my own now, so I haven’t done much sewing since I left for college (other than buttons on the husband’s clothes, haha). It would be so wonderful to get a sewing machine for Christmas, wink wink! :)
Dayl says
SEW ME!
I would have to put myself at a 7 – I like to sew and can make items, but I still screw up n a very regular basis!!
Kathleen Robinson says
SEW ME!
I would love a fancy new Singer Machine! I would rank myself at about a 5-6. My mom taught me and my three brothers how to sew while saying everybody should know how to, and I am always glad she did
Beth says
Sew me a level 5! I can make a pretty decent block quilt, but not much more complicated. Also, I just moved to snowy northern Maine and could use a new hobby during the winter!
Tiffanie says
SEW ME!! I’d say I’m around a 4. I could definitely improve my skills with this sewing machine, though!
SarahCC says
SEW ME!!
I’m a 1 – so there is room for improvement! :)
Kathryn says
SEW ME!!!! I am for sue a 1 – but I really want to learn. Perhaps be a solid 4 by the time my daughter is old enough to need me to sew/fix stuff :)
Kirsten says
SEW ME! I’d rank myself as a 3 too. I can sew straight lines well for curtains, pillows etc, but more complicated things my mom helps me out.
Jessica says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1, maybe. I can put buttons back on stuff, we ignore the fact that they fall off again a week later.
