***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME! I can use duct tape pretty well.
Abby says
SEW ME! I am absolutely a 1, but if I won this sewing machine, it would be for my sister who is a solid 4 with promise to be a high 8. She’s so crafty but never ponied up the cash for a nice sewing machine.
Amanda M says
SEW ME! Honestly, I am prob a -1, but I really want to learn how to sew, I just need a machine.
Lesley says
SEW ME!!
I’m totally a 10. NOT! But my mom is, and let me tell ya, I need to learn to sew from that lady! I’m more of a 1-2. I can sew straight lines (I made infinity scarves for Christmas!) and that’s about it!
Missy says
SEW ME!!!! I’m probably a 4, but would like to learn and be a 10!!!!!
Amy C says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m around a 7. If I won a new machine I would pass my current machine on to my daughter (11 years old) so she could work on her skills . . . I hover a bit when she’s using my machine.
Anna says
SEW ME!
I am a 1, but would love to learn!
Kyra says
SEW ME!
”I’m a negative 7! I’ve never seen one except at a store. I wouldn’t even know how to turn it on!
Carolina O. says
SEW ME!!!
I’d say I’m a 7… I’ve made plenty of projects over the years (including a coat and pair of pants in high school) but don’t have a decent machine right now. I’d love to be able to do more projects… I’ll cross my fingers that I win this!
Lisa W. says
SEW ME!
I haven’t sewn in years, but I will confidently say that I’m a 4!!!
Vanessa says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 7 or 8… I know my machine pretty well, but don’t do anything too fancy with it. I have sewn my own clothes on occasion (some with patterns, some made up) and I’ve made a bunch of stuff for my kid. I’d love a fancy machine that does cool stuff—I’ve been longing for an upgrade!!
Greta says
SEW ME! I’d give myself a 2.75; I can thread a bobby and sew a straight line and that’s about it.
Carla S says
SEW ME! I would rate myself at about a 4. My lines aren’t super straight and there’s usually quite a few errors but but my little boy loves the stuff I make for him regardless of the errors!
Holly M says
SEW ME!
I would say I am a 2. I know the basics but could DEFINITELY improve!
Alexandra I says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m about a 3 as well. I haven’t attempted to make anything more sophisticated than a pillow, but I would love to get into it and maybe make my own clothes one day!.
Sara A. says
SEW ME!
I would love a new machine! I sew almost everyday……I would rank myself a 7.5. ALways learning something new when I sew! Practice, practice, practice!
Thanks for the chance!
Caitlin says
SEW ME!!!
I would say about a 2. My grandma is currently teaching me, so hopefully I’ll keep getting better!
Rebecca Udy says
SEW ME! I’d consider myself a 9. I can sew anything except for some clothes without a pattern.
Steph J says
SEW ME!!!
Back when I was in HS, I would have ranked a 7 or 8; I used to sew my own clothes and knew my way around a sewing machine pretty well. Now, I’m at best a 2 or 3. I could probably work it without breaking anything, but not sure how well the project would turn out. But I really would like to get back into it again!
Donita says
“SEW ME!” I am so thankful to God and to my mom, that I can say rank me a 10. My mom taught me to sew at the age of 7. Sewing has been my passion for many years. :-) *P.S. LOVE SINGER!!! They are the best. My machine now is a cheap OH BROTHER!!! I feel your pain Sherry. LOL*
Dawn says
SEW ME!
I’m probably around a 3 or 4.
Ellen says
SEW ME! I’m probably about a 5 but I don’t have a machine to use regularly. I’d love to get some practice on a fancy new machine!
Vanessa says
SEW ME, please! I’m a 1 but imagine with the right machine, I could learn my way to a 10!
Jenny says
SEW ME!!!!!
I’m somewhere around a 3 or a 4. I can follow directions and patterns, and I can also make pillows without a pattern. I’ve been using my mother’s old singer sewing machine circa 1970s that is a lovely brownish-yellow that is beginning to slowly fall apart.
Ayisha says
Sew Me Please. I taught myself how to sew last year by reading two books. A little over a year later I score myself as a 6.5 aspiring to be an 8. I will never dedicate enough time to sewing to become a 10.
Elizabeth Beck Land says
SEW ME! I’m a 1, but that hasn’t kept me from attempting to repair lost buttons and torn pants. I obviously can use all the help I can get!
Kayla says
SEW ME…I’m definitely a 1 but I want to be a 10! Or at least a 7.
Katherine T says
SEW ME!! I’m probably a 4, sew things for my kids mostly
Rebekka says
SEW ME!!! I’m definitely a zero, but I really want to learn!
Mckenzie Bara says
Sew me!
1-2, better by hand but not much sewing machine experience!
Quiana says
SEW ME! I’m still a novice despite taking an intensive course years ago and can do basics like making my daughter simple clothing and mending my husband’s clothing as needed. Sewing in zippers freak me out!
Keally says
SEW ME!! I would say I’m a 5 on a really good day, but a 3 on most other days… I would love to win this Singer though and improve on my poor skills!
Jes says
SEW ME!
I would consider myself a solid 5… so long as there is a phone handy to consult my mommy to make sure I am doing things the right way. haha
leslie says
Sew Me!
I am probably a 4 or 4. My proudest accomplishments are a pair of pajama pants that were my first success – newspaper print for a journalist wannabe – and a rag quilt for my daughter. :)
Elise says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 6. I’ve made several quilts – but if you put a gun to my head and asked me to install (??) a zipper, I would not be able to do it.
Diana says
Sew me! maybe a 4? I’m a fast learner, but have zero experience on sewing machines since i don’t have one!
have a great day –d
Malena says
Sew me!
I´m a 1 for sure, I would love to use a sewing machine for the first time!
Amanda Cooper says
SEW ME!!!
I’d probably rate myself about a 7 or 8. I can construct some basic clothing using patterns and they usually turn out pretty good(sometimes you might not want to look toooo close, but generally still pretty good). I haven’t quite mastered the free-style stuff yet, so definitely not an expert.
Carolyn C. says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1, but I’ve been wanting to learn to sew for years!
Chelsea says
SEW ME! I’m definitely somewhere around a 3.. although it would definitely take some trial and error learning.
Danielle says
SEW ME!
I am probably a .1. I bet I could get that baby plugged in. That might be about it.
Pia says
SEW ME! I’m a 1 but want to be a fancy 10!
Jamie F says
SEW ME! I’m definitely a 2…my lack of sewing and knitting skills are what my grandma tells me is her biggest disappointment in me!
SHELLEY LARCOM says
Oh my, SEW ME for sure!!! Unfortuately am am probabaly not even a 1 on the scale. Maybe 1/2 as in .5 as in one half of one. LOL … Althougj I did sew together a dog coat one time. Luckily it kept my pet warn on snowy walks and he couldn’t talk to complain about it’s wonky look. LOL
Kaitlyn says
I think I am about a 4! I hate using patterns but love making things up as I go. It makes for some interesting projects, and some failures! But all a learning experience!
Becky says
SEW ME!
I’m a 5 or a 6…I can make a pretty nice bag but definately not blindfolded. :) I’m thinkin this sewing machine would help, though! God Bless!
Kerry says
SEW ME! I’m a total novice, but dying to learn – I have two kids rooms and a playroom that are desperate for some cute curtains!
Amy Brown says
SEW ME!
I’m an 7 and my sewing machine is broken … Like a cook without a stove. I love to quilt and I promise I’ll love this machine to pieces (HA!).
Rebecca K says
Sew me!! If you are a 1 and couldn’t sew yourself out of a bag, Im still a 1 and would probably sew myself into a bag.
Rachel says
SEW ME! I’m probably at 6. :)
