***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Allyson says
SEW ME! Definitely a 3. I could make a “wonky bag.”
Lauren says
I’m a 2 1/2. I’d be a 1 except for the fact that I do recall using a sewing machine to make a patchwork quilt for my doll when I was a kid. I still have it as a momento of one of my proudest accomplishments.
Susan says
SEW ME! I’m pretty good with straight seeing and simple patterns. Thanks!
Jessica says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m a 2. I made corn hole bean bags last year with my mother’s help. I can’t sew on a button so I’m not much help in the sewing category.
Susan says
SEW ME. I’m around a 3 or a 4. I used to be a 7 or 8 but it has been so very long.
Stephanie Klemm says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m a 3 or 4. I can handle small projects, but don’t expect any of it to be straight!
I just realized I don’t notice you guys linking to the giveaway page when a winner is announced. Do you email the winner(s)?

Carla says
SEW ME– i’m somewhere between 1and 10. I’l try simpleclothing projects (pajama pants) but mostly quilt.
Andrea says
SEW ME!
I am a raw beginner.
Jeanne Voehl says
SEW ME!
Probably a 4!
Steph H says
SEW ME!
I’d say a 4. My mom taught me, I handle simple tasks well, but don’t really trust my own making of clothes…I’m always scared if I made something to wear to work it would come undone and leave me quite embarrassed. :)
Gina says
Sew me :)
I’d say a 3 like Sherry. I can’t make anything fancy but I can make things like the high chair safety belt I made for my baby girl.

Courtney says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 1.5 since I took a sewing class last year! :)
Jennifer C says
SEW ME! A 3. Most things I make are basic or wonky.
MM says
SEW ME!
Uh …what comes before 0?
Laura says
SEW ME! I would say my skill level is at a 0 since I’ve never attempted to sew anything!
Colleen says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1, but I’m so ready to upgrade. I want to learn to make my own pillowcases, drapes, etc.
Tina says
Sew Me!
I used to be a 9. Sewed all my clothes in college. I can still do pretty well, except for jean zippers and points on shirt collars.
Kaitlin Jenkins says
I’d say I’m about a level 3 just like Sherry. I could totally make a wonky bag!! :D
I do have a problem with large amounts of fabric and cutting them down to size, why’s it so hard!?!?
Sue M says
SEW ME! I am about a 1 with a machine but maybe a 3 or 4 with hem tape :) Would love to learn more and this seems like the machine with which to do it!
Brady says
SEW ME!
I am a 2 or 3. I would have said 3 but since Sherry rated herself a 3 and I saw that cute quilt she made and couldn’t have done that, I think maybe I need to go lower.
Actually, I was just trying to make an apron and either my admittedly cheap sewing machine or lack of skills or a combination of both made it impossible. Maybe with a better machine and a “Sewing for Dummies” book I would re-tackle it!
Lorraine Ferguson says
SEW ME!!!
I would say that I am probably an 8, but I haven’t touched my machines in a couple of years!
Jessica says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1 but have high hopes of learning soon!
Leigh-Ann says
SEW ME!
At this point, I’m probably a 1 in terms of sewing, but I’d love to be able to sew!
Misa says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 7 or an 8 on sewing skills. My best accomplishment is a tailored victorian corset in gold brocade. My husband is also very good, but sad right now because his sewing machine is broken.
Jess Z. says
SEW ME! I’m a 3.
Amy P says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 2 or 3, but I would love to be better!
Erin says
SEW ME! I am a 1…i.e. haven’t touched one since home ec class in 7th grade!
Liz says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 10 also sewing since I was seven. I love to teach young people to sew and would give this machine to my daughter. She is already an acoomplished crafter, and knit/crocheter but I’m sure she’d also be a good seamstress with an easy machine!! Thanks.
Putnimit says
Sew me!
Amanda D says
Sew me!
I’m probaly about a 2 or 3. I can fix holes in my clothes & replace buttons and stuff. I’ve never had a sewing machine but I’ve always wanted one to make pillows & curtains and stuff. Plus, my boyfriend keeps bugging me to get one to make him cosplay outfits. Lol!
Esther says
Sew Me!
3?
Lisa says
SEW ME! 2… I can sew a button?
Toñi says
SEW ME!
I think 1 or 2 hehe
Sarah says
SEW ME!
My skills are probably a 3, I have sooo much more to learn!
Kimberly says
Sew Me! I am definitely a 1 on that scale!
Katherine S says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1… I can (usually) manage to sew a button back on, but that’s about it. I haven’t used a sewing machine since middle school, when I made a pair of shorts with frogs all over them. They didn’t turn out well.
Kim says
SEW ME!
I am probably a -1. Nearly broke my mom’s machine when I was DIYing some wedding decor for a friend. I always want to learn but am too afraid I’d break hers, but I’d be fine if I broke my own :)
Amy S. says
Sew Me!
My grandma was an amazing seamstress! I haven’t touched a sewing machine in years, but I am probably a 5. I’d love to tackle some DIY pillows and draperies with this baby!
Krista says
SEW ME! Last week was my first sewing adventure when I made a pillowcase for a local children’s hospital. (I had a friend next to me guiding me the whole time!) I would love to have a machine to make a set of curtains for my living room and another for my office!
Jenna says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 6 or 7.
carolina mendonça says
SEW ME…
I’m probably a 5… but with this machine i would become a 10 ;)
Megan says
Sew me!!!!
Depending on the project and the day I’m a 5.
Abby says
SEW ME!!!! I’m like a 4 – I can do most things as long as I have a pattern and access to the Internet for tips!! But it might come out a bit off (that’s the charming part of handmade right?!)
Christy Niebaum says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a two. If someone got everything set up for me, I could probably sew something basic, but if I have to get the thread set up, it’s all going downhill. Although I did sew a pair of cow print boxers in 8th grade home-ec class.
Kate says
SEW ME…..PLEASE!!
I would say I am a 2.5 but with a bad boy like that I could for sure be a 5.
Teresa says
SEW ME!
I’d say wonky bag category… 3!
Sarah says
Sew Me! I’m a 5. Can do halloween costumes and decor…no clothes that have to fit though!
Lacey-Anne Kucheran says
SEW ME!!!!!!
I am also a self-proclaimed 3 on the sewing continuum -good at decor related stuff like table runners and curtains but my one attempt at paints FAILED UTERLY! However, I partially blame it on my crappy $99 walmart special sewing machine that randomly decides to stop working… One that actually works consistently would possibly bump me to a 4 and at the very least help me start on the sewing projects I have planned for my upcoming baby (due in April) like cloth wipes and diapers!
Anna (My Design Ethos) says
SEW ME! I think I’d consider myself a 4. I’ve learnt some basic skills (I’ve pretty much mastered the envelope pillow), I can do a zipper (most of the time) and I even made a dress once (let’s not talk about that one). I would LOVE to win a sewing machine though so I can improve my skills!! :)
