***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME! I’m probably at a -10 on the sewing scale- it’s sad really. But it’s always been on my bucket list to learn and become good at it!
Jessica says

I am a 1… never sewed a day in my life but I really like quilts.
Vicki Mc says
Sew Me! I’m a 3 – but usually I just pass everything off to my MIL to sew for me!
Amita says
Sew Me, Please!
I’m definitely a 1. My mother once sewed a skirt to the carpet. These are the genes I’m working with. Please help.
Andrea says
SEW ME!
I could probably sew two pieces of fabric together if I really tried. I stink :(
Kari Nesbitt says
SEW ME! I am about a 2 on the sewing scale! I hope to get better and with this new Singer, I could be a 10!
Jane says
SEW ME!
I’d rank maybe a 3 – hand sewing, yes (I’ve hand sewn a few Chrismas presents this year!)but I’d definitely need some practice with that fab machine.
Merry Christmas from England & thanks for arranging an international giveaway for your overseas fans!
Casey says
SEW ME!
I’m a rookie but I helped my aunt make my college t-shirt blanket. I would like to make one for my brother as a present! :)
Cindy says
SEW ME!!! I”m probably about a 3… good enough to thread the machine & sew some straight lines! I really keep finding things I would love to sew, but no machine to do it on!
Katie H says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 7- making clothes that are wearable, and some I love, but NOT QUITE perfect…
Emily Benz says
SEW ME!!
I am definitely a 1!! A newbie who wants to learn how to sew to create fabulous decor items for our new home that we’re DIY updating. I’ve never sewed anything or used a sewing machine myself.
Jennifer says
Sew me!
I’ll rate myself as a 2. I can sew a straight line, but need practice to do anything more complicated.
JessicaB says
SEW ME! My skill level is definitely around 1-2. I have made pillow covers and a skirt with lots of help from my Grandmother, who is basically, a professional. Hoping to be like her someday!
Becky says
SEW ME! I’m a 1….haven’t used a sewing machine in my adult years at all. Would love to have one and learn though!
S.C. says
“SEW ME!”
I can sew a button … kind of.
Stephanie says
SEW ME! :)
i’m about a 2, but it’s definitely addicting! :)
Erin P says
SEW ME!!
I had a sewing machine in middle school, and I never got past the “beginner” stage. So I’m definitely a 1. I would love love love to get a sewing machine and become a sewing connoisseur!
Lindsay Marjoram says
SEW ME!!
I would rank myself a 6 on the sewing scale- I learned how to machine sew very early from my grandmother and took sewing classes as an elective in high school (pretty sure they don’t still offer that?) but have not been formally trained passed the basics. I inherited my grandmother’s machine when she passed away and the machine is now almost 20 years old. I could really use a new machine so I don’t work the old one too hard!
Lindsay @ OffFor the Season says
SEW ME!
I’m about a zero but I did ask Santa for a sewing machine. Maybe by Valentine’s day I’ll be a 4?
David says
SEW ME!”
I would say I am pre-novice – at least a year from being able to produce anything of value, but man will I try!
Natasha M says
SEW ME! I’d say a 6 or so. Can’t handle button holes!
Jenn says
SEW ME!
I know enough to be able to alter my own clothes, and I’ve made some simple purses. I’ve sewn curtains too! So I’m probably around a 5. I’d love a new machine. I have so many projects up my soon-to-be-sewn sleeve! (Hee Hee!)
Sira says
SEW ME! I’m pretty good, but I’d be better with if I had a machine.
Kristen S says
SEW ME!
I wouldn’t say I am a 10 (blindfolded sewing sounds like it might be a tad dangerous…) so I am going to give myself a 7. Mom taught me how to sew as a kid, and its a great skill to have!
Matt says
SEW ME!!
2….definitley a 2….
Lindsay says
SEW ME!!
I’m a -2. I’ve never used a sewing machine and have tried to hem pants by hand, only to have them fall apart after a day. I would love to learn though!
Cher says
SEW ME! I’m about a 5. I grew up helping my mom to sew, so I’d be able to sew a nice window in my paper bag, but would probably be thwarted when I tried to embroider curtains.
Shira says
SEW ME! Id probably identify myself as a 3. I know how to sew basic things, but don’t have a machine to practice on. It’s on my holiday wish list!
Chris says
SEW ME!
I’m more around a 2. I’m better by hand than with a sewing machine. I’d probably be better if my grandmother hadn’t told me the horror story of a sewing machine needle going through her thumb when she worked in a garment factory before she got married. Now I’m pretty much scared of sewing machines.
Ellen says
SEW ME!
I’m in the 2-2.5 right now, but am gunning for a new sewing machine so I can rocket up to a sewing super star. And considering my bad luck buying used sewing machines, this would be AMAZING to win!
Heather says
SEW ME!!
I would put myself at about a 2 or a 3. If the machine is set up for me, I can use it! But maybe I am giving myself too much credit… I probably really am a 1.2 – 2! :)
Sarah says
Sew me!
I’m definitely a 1, but my mom is much higher on that scale so I feel like genetics might just kick in if I sit down in front of a sweet sewing machine!
MK says
SEW ME!
I am a 2 but hoping to advance my skills in 2013! My mom took up quilting after retirement and has sparked my interest in the hobby. So far I’ve only completed a couple table runners but am hoping to tackle my first quilt next year.
Emily says
SEW ME!!! (Please :D )
I’d put myself around a 4.5. I made a quilt once and stitched most of it by hand, there were some complicated pieces too (spandex going into canvas, eek!). Although I won’t ever attempt to sew clothing, I’m pretty sure it’d get wonky quickly!
Shannon W says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 4-5 depending on what I’m trying to tackle. Thanks!
Kelli Yates says
SEW ME!
I would say I am a 3. I have made a t-shirt quilt before (all straight lines) but if the thread breaks or something wonky happens… I am in trouble…
Stephanie says
SEW ME!!
I’m definitely a 1, aspiring to be a three. I think if I were to attempt a wonky bag, I’d probably manage to sew myself into it!
Connie H. says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m a 91/2. I use to sew a lot of my clothes and my kids clothes when they were little. That was 35 years ago. Now I sew quilts for the grandkids.
Would love to have a new machine.
Lina says
SEW ME!
I would say 8 or 9!
Tiffany says
Sew me!
I am definitely a 1….. now, i use to be around a 5. but i haven’t touched a sewing machine sense high school, but I’ve been meaning to get one sense high school…maybe that should become a “DUDE GET ON THAT” thing this year for me.
Kristy says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 5. I’ve made usable things, but sewing from a pattern confuses me.
Vanessa says
Sew me. And I am a solid 0. But I have been dying to start trying!
