***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

1, definitely. no question about it.
Cheryl says
SEW ME!!
Probably between a 2 and a 3 — it’s been YEARS since I’ve touched a sewing machine since I gave mine away to a good friend’s daughter who wanted to learn to sew but had no $ for a sewing machine.
Would LOVE to win this so I can start making some new window treatments and pillows!
Nadine P says
SEW ME… I knew how to see in middle school and forgot everything I knew! So I’m a “1”!
Lizzy K. says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 4. I can do fairly straight lines and wind the bobbin, which is better than my mom! (I read the instructions; she didn’t. lol) What an exciting prize!!!
Ali A says
SEW ME!
I’d give myself a 3. I can sew on buttons and fix small holes if they are on the seam of a sweater or something, but that’s about it! Oh I made a pillow once in the 8th grade for a project….
Caitlin says
SEW ME!! I made a mexican poncho in junior high…I think that puts me at a 1!
Katie says
Sew ME!
I’d say I’m also a 3. Fiddling with the tension is my nemesis.
Jessie says
SEW ME!
I’m a 5-ish. Not the best with measurements but I’ve done my share of hemming, pillows, and a crib bumper once…I’m pretty limited to straight lines :)

sew me !
I can not speak english to much.
I can say that about 2
I want to sew everything.
Lennora says
SEW ME!!
Novice at best want to be a expert sooo bad!
S. Shaw says
SEW ME! I’d rate myself a 6 on the sewing scale which may be generous, but I started sewing a year and a half ago and really love doing it even when things come out less than perfect.
Stephanie says
SEW ME! A 4.
Becca says
SEW ME!
I’d say a 1.5 (my abilities stop at buttons ha) – much to my mom’s chagrin!
tiffany says
SEW ME!
… and I’d say I’m about a 7. I love it, I do it often, but I’m still intimidated my the really tough stuff. My machine is a 12 year old very basic Singer… I adore it, but I sew enough to want a few more bells & whistles.
shereen says
SEW ME! I am a 3 but think I could be a 5 if I knew how to thread my machine (and not have to look up youtube vids everytime I wanna try to sew!). My momma is for sure a 10, maybe a 20! :)
Madeline says
SEW ME!!
I would say I am around a 3 or 4. I did make a dress for a high school dance once, but had help from my friends grandmother.
joan says
SEW ME!
I am a solid 2 who can ambitiously put a hand-stitch to anything, but also promise that not a single stitch will match the next one. Wonky bag.
Rachel says
SEW ME!
I’m probably about a 4.5. Last year I sewed doll clothes for my little girls and I have to say I was quite proud of myself!
Julie says
SEW ME!
I used to be around a 5 but ever since my sewing machine broke I would probably be a 2 or 3!
lu mae ro says
SEW ME!
I am a 1-2. I bet i would go up a few point with this machine!!
Beth says
SEW ME!
I’m maybe a 5. Can sew some basic things like a pillow or roman shade. Made our Christmas tree skirt and stockings. But I still prefer to have my mom’s assistance! (she’s an 11 – gowns and fancy dresses, plus fancy curtains and stuff) I’ve been thinking about getting my own… this would be perfect!
Sarah Der! says
SEW MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (!)!
Oh lordie I WILL NOT GET MY HOPES UP I WILL NOT GET MY HOPES UP.
I aaaaam a 7.5, I think. My mom is an amazing seamstress and she passed along some of her skillz and street cred to me, but my wonky, old school sewing machine is really ill behaved and kind of a pain in the butt. I could use a new one THAT IS FOR SURE!
p.s. You guys are so cute just sayin’.
Lily says
SEW ME! Probably a 3… can follow a pattern but can’t modify one.
Lori says
Sew Me!
I think I am a 2. I haven’t sewed anything in over thirty years but I made a great apron back in Home Ec. I am hoping those skills are just dormant.
Jen J says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m around a 7. I do have my own etsy shop where I sell purses and checkbook covers. But, I don’t really know how to read a pattern the correct way. I don’t know what all the stripes and shading mean so I could be sewing my products incorrectly and they just so happen to turn out looking good :) My current sewing machine is a garage sale find. It works really well but it lacks in features. I would love to have more than 10 choices in stitch designs.
Kim says
SEW ME!
I guess I am around a 3 or 4…at least I think so! It would be nice to have a brand new Singer. I am using my grandmother’s old one right now. It looks cool but doesnt have all the neat new options.
Stephanie says
SEW ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Danyelle says
SEW ME!
I’m probably around a 3, but I really want to be better.
Lisa says
Sew Me!
I’m probably a three like Sherry, but I’m trying to work my way up! However, my sister is a straight up zero. So if I win, I’m going to give the sewing machine to her and she can really test how easy it is to use and learn. I’m crossing my fingers!
Lauren says
SEW ME!
I’m a good solid 2. I can sew mainly straight lines, until the thread mysteriously snarls and then breaks. This happens every minute or so. Maybe this machine would help me last a whole seam!
Annette says
SEW ME for sure !! I rate myself a 9. I have been sewing for over 40 years and find there are always new things to learn.
emily clawser says
Sew me! I’m about a minus 2. Last time I sewed was in elementary school
I was a pro scrunchie maker.
Jay says
SEW ME! I think I am about a 6. I can make a pretty great quilt but I have never had any real instruction on how to do anything :) Just play it by ear!
Barb says
SEW ME!
I’m a 0… can’t sew at all!
Erin says
Sew Me! I would be a zero right now, but if I win maybe a 5 with some practice?
cayce wegman says
SEW ME! I’m more like Sherry…a little ol’ 3!
Sarah says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2. I’ve sewed a wonky bag before, but it’s been ages since I touched a sewing machine!
Jessica W says
Sew me. I would say that I am about a 5 or 6. I’ve sewn up quite a few things on my old machine, but they all have their flaws!
Lauren says
SEW ME! I’d love to add to my arsenal to help with wear and tear on my current machine. This is a beaut! By your scale, I’d consider myself a 9.5… maybe blindfolded with a sheer fabric?
JoyDawn Olla says
I think I probably qualify as a five. I have made 2 Halloween costumes for my sons, they looked good from a distance! =)
keapdx says
SEW ME! My 1962-vintage portable could use an upgrade. On a scale of 1 – 10 I suppose I’m somewhere around 5, though I did get a work study job in college making costumes because I knew how to install a zipper!
theresa a. says
sew me!
i’d give myself a 2-3, i hemmed a sash for my sister’s bachelorette party this summer!
Angel says
I am most definitely a 0 when it comes to sewing. I use the iron on hem tape occasionally but that is it. However, I would love to have this wonderful machine for my 12 year old daughter who does sew!!
Natalie says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 2 on the skill scale.. but I’d love to start making my own throw pillow covers!
Amor says
SEW ME!!!
Definitely a beginner. 1 or 0.
jenn says
SEW ME!!! I’m probably a 2 or 3 – I have a lot more confidence in my skills than actual skillz. But I also have a broken 30 yr old hand-me-down sewing machine. I’m SURE a new one would make me at least a 5, right? ;)
Heather M. says
SEW ME!! I’m probably about a 4 when it comes to sewing. I hate every minute of it, but I can do it.
Frida says
SEW ME! I’m a 1 going on 2…miraculously with all ten fingertips still intact.
Remy Lawrence says
Sew me!
Not even a 1…yikes!
