***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Rachel says
SEW ME!
4.5 – I’m getting better at reading sewing patterns and knowing what they mean.
Cara H. says
SEW ME!!!
I am an aspiring 3.. Trying my hand at more complex things resulting in “oh no!” and “dang! where is that seam ripper?!” exclamations from the other room.. a new machine would be a fabulous addition to my new hobby! Currently making dog kerchiefs that slip onto collars! wee!
April says
SEW ME!
I don’t sew at all, so definitely a one, but I’d like to learn!
Yafube says
Sew me ! I am number one ( but if my little turns out as careless as her dad I get start learning fast)
Dee in BC says
SEW ME! My 12 yr old son just took a ( mandatory) sewing class in Grade 7- he now can sew much better than I do. I ‘d love to learn but my 35 yr old Kenmore is soo hard to use! By the time it’s threaded & I have the bobbin adjusted & the tension set, it’s time to put it away.
Beth says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2, but not with a machine.
krista says
SEW ME!
Are we allowed to use negatives? I’d be a -1. I seem to look at sewing machines and they break. I’d like to think it has something to do with my Mom’s 25 year old machine though and that a new one would bring me up to a 2.
Dawn says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 7-8. I took a few classes in high school to learn sewing and made a few quilts. Would love a new machine!
Liz says
SEW ME!
I am a 1, but would love a chance to develop into a steady 3.
Michelle says
SEW ME! I can make a square pillow. As long as someone else stuffs and seals it… ;)
Megan says
SEW ME! I’ll be optimistic, I’m a 0.5. Not quite a 1 but a 0 seems sad.
Jennifer says
SEW ME Please!!! I’m a 2 because I can turn the thing on and thread the bobbin, but to sew a straight line can be tricky! I could probably get on board with the wonky bag – on a good day =)
lisa says
SEW ME!
(please?)
Somewhere around a 7 or 8, but moved and gave my machine to the kids. Now I have grandchildren to put in spiffy overalls and dresses…..
Crystal says
SEW ME!
Back when I was sewing on the reg with my Mom, I was probably a solid five, but since I’m so out of practice I’m probably down to a 2.
Sylvia Andrado says
SEW ME! I’m a 1. : )
Lindsey says
SEW ME!!
A 5 maybe… But I’m a 10 with the seam-ripper!
Elizabeth says
SEW ME! I’d say my level is about a 2ish. I can sew a straight line but only if someone else helps me with the pinning. sigh…
Corinne A. says
SEW ME!…I am like a -4, probably. Never used a sewing machine in my life. I would love to try, though!

Sharon Vipond says
SEW ME!!
Well…I am probably a 7 or 8 on the sewing machine skill scale. However, my 40 year old machine died 6 months ago and I am not in a position to buy another at the moment. I am really missing it and would love to be the winner. Thanks for the great give-away prize!
Caroline Good says
SEW ME! I could probably sew to save my life! Lol! I would say I’m a 5 or 6. I have 3 kids and always made their halloween costumes. I have made pillow covers, window coverings, placemats and that sort of thing. I did take a tailoring class once a hundred years ago but I don’t recall actually finishing the jacket. And my current sewing is on its last legs (er…needles)! ;p
Monica G. says
SEW ME! I guess I’m about a 7? I have made a few quilts and a bunch of small items like skirts, bags, pillow cases.
Debby Schuh says
Sew me! I’m pretty good on the sewing machine but I sew on my great grandmother’s Featherweight Singer machine where NOTHING is automatic! I’d love a new machine!
Jessica C. says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1.5, I think. One time I made pillow covers (yay!) that were so flimsy they fell apart after 6 months (boo).
Julie says
SEW ME!
I am a 1. My 10 year-old daughter has asked for a sewing machine for Christmas, so maybe soon she will be able to teach me!
Gabrielle says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a four. I could make a bag that looked pretty good, maybe even a five, but I cannot sew or cut on a straight line so that would drag me back into four range.
Eric Saupe says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1 but my wife is great and would love a new sewing machine!
Anessa says
SEW ME!!!
Probably a 4. I have sewn a quilt or 2 but would far from consider myself an expert. Try to sew a piece of clothing, that could be interesting :)
Vincent says
SEW ME! I have no sewing skills, but my girlfriend does!
Danni says
SEW ME! :)
I am definitely a 1, maybe a -1 if that is possible. I have never owned a sewing machine, but it is next on my list of things to get :)
Shanelle says
SEW ME!! I am probably around an 8/9 I learned to sew when I was young, and love it! Am in need of a new machine though:)
Megan says
Sew Me!
I would say I’m a total disaster — with hope! I want to know what I’m doing… that’ why I added the “with hope”. :-)
Holly says
SEW ME! I’m at a 2-3/10. Can make simple clothing but it shouldn’t be worn in public.
Roxanne says
Sew Me! I know a few things about sewing, but as of right now ama hand sewwer because the 500lb. vontage sewing machine that was my 103 year old aunts is kind of finicky plus it is SO heavy I can’t really cary it around. I can do a mean hem and turn edges! I would love a new updated sewing machine!
Stacey says
SEW ME!!! I’d say I’m about a 1.5…but I want to get better!
Dylcia says
SEW ME! I have no freakin clue how to use one. But hey! It can’t hurt to learn :)
Sara B. says
Sew me!
I’m probably a 3. My grandma taught me to sew once, long ago, and I remember MOST of it but haven’t had the scratch for a sewing machine like ever.
I keep dreaming of the skirts I’d make, though.
sarah says
SEW ME!
The 12 year old in me who was in a sewing club is probably a 6. The 27 year old who hasn’t sewn in 15 years is about a 3, wondering why their inner 12 year old won’t come help… maybe this machine will though!!
Kellie says
SEW ME! I’m about a 1 with a machine (haven’t quite figured out thread tension and the like), but I’m a solid 5 with the hand-stitching (I made a superhero cape by hand for a friend while we were serving in Afghanistan together).
Tara says
SEW ME!
I’m afraid I’m a below zero, but would love to make it to an 8 or higher!
Ashley says
SEW ME!
I would say I am a 2.5! My husbands grandmother gave me her very old sewing machine and I am currently learning how to work the sucker. Especially with no manual. A new sewing machine would be amazing!!
Avigail says
SEW ME!
Eilene says
Sew me!
I would say a 3.. have some experience in 7th grade and then again when I was older. The thing that gets me every time is threading the darn thing. It’s probably easy to some people but I always forget how to!
