***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Ok, I am so (sew?!) excited about this giveaway. I have been wanting a sewing machine for ages even though I am probably a negative eleven-teen on the sewing skills chart. But, I just know that I could make some amazing stuff if only I had a machine. Would love to win this!! SEW ME!!!!

Sew me!!!
I started sewing in May and would give myself a score of 5? I LOVE it and would love this prize :)

SEW ME!
I am totally a 1 right now in the sewing department. Growing up, my mom (who is an 11 on the scale) tried to get us girls to sew, but we weren’t having it. Now that I am a poor grad student, I am dying to learn how to sew my own pillows and holiday gifts!
Cassie P. says
I am not that great at sewing, maybe a 3 or 4. But I would love to get better! I would espeically love to make some curtains – going on 4 months with no curtains at my new place. Thank goodness for blinds :)
Katie D says
SEW ME!
I’m right there with Sherry…a 3.
lisa says
SEW ME! Can’t use one at all but I want to learn. :)
Megan says
SEW ME!
My sewing skills would probably be a 1 or a 2, but looking forward to maybe improving on that!
Rita says
SEW ME!
I think I would be a 4. My bag might not be TOO wonky, but wonky just the same. I do love to try though!
Janelle says
SEW ME! I’m maybe a 3, like Sherry. I can straight stitch like it’s nobody’s business but anything beyond that is slightly scary. Also, thanks for the intl giveaway. We appreciate it :)
Christine says
I’m maybe a 5 or 6. It’s fun for me and I’m getting better.
Hilary says
SEW ME! I’m probably about a 5. I’ve made a bunch of curtains and such, but haven’t ventured into clothing-making yet, which is what I’d really like to learn to do. This machine would be the perfect kick in the pants!
Abby says
Sew me!
I’m probably a 3, like Sherry, but my husband is more like a 7. Which is why we need a sweing machine – I need to up my skills! (Or is it skillz?)
Nikki says
SEW ME!
I would rate myself a 3 or 4 – I am getting more comfortable with it but I’m no expert! I stick to straight lines and basic designs.
Kara says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 5. But I could be a 10 if I had a sewing machine!!
Emily says
SEW ME!
I’m pretty low-level when it comes to my sewing skills – maybe a 2 based on what i learned way back in our family and consumer skills course in 8th grade and what my mom showed me before her sewing machine broke, but I’d love to get better!
Alix says
SEW ME! Hmm…good question! I’m probably a 6/10, because it’s been a few years since college and a design room full of Berninas! I could probably work my way back up to an 8 with some practice! :) Great giveaway!

Sew ME!
When I was little I took sewing lessons but lost interest in it in my teenage years. Once my nephews came along all I want to do is sew them stuffies, and clothes and blankets etc. I have crocheted them a ton of things but have been wanting to step up my crafting abilities so that I can also do things around my home – specifically the faux blinds you have in your kitchen, blankets, pillows etc! I have been asking my husband for one for so long but think that it might be a lost cause haha. I think I would start as a 2 but can easy see myself losing myself into it and being a 7 by a weeks end :)
Joanna S. says
SEW ME!! I have never sewed but I really, really want to learn and be a little sewing bee.
Dana Z. says
Sew Me! I would rank myself as a 2. I can *barely* sew a straight line… as long as someone has already threaded the needle!
Karyn says
I am a ZERO in the sew department.
Christine says
SEW ME!
On the sewing skills continuum I am a -1 (or maybe even
-5)! I have always wanted to learn how to sew but never have taken the time to learn or have had the gut to take on the challenge! This would be the kick in the butt on need!
Stacey Green says
SEW ME!!!
I’d say I’m a 2 and that is generous since I usually need my Mom to help me set everything up!!
Nichole S says
SEW ME!! I would be a negative 1… I would definitely die inside that bag.
Tara says
Sew Me!
I rate myself a 0! I haven’t ever attempted to sew anything before! But would love to learn!
Jill K says
SEW ME! I have a kit that was my grandma’s and can use iron tape like nobody’s business.
larissa says
SEW ME!
Right now i couldn’t sew my way out of a bag, but I hope to change that!!
Christina says
SEW ME! I’m like a 0.5. I can sew a button and that’s pretty much it, but I would love to be better!
Mychelle says
SEW ME! I’m a beginner and teaching myself to sew, so that puts me in the “wonky bag” category. I’ve gotten a few projects under my belt, but have not had 1 “I shouldn’t have done it that way” product yet.
Kandie Kemp says
SEW ME!!! I would say Im about a 3! But would like to be a 10 :) Thanks

Angela says
SEW ME! I’m about a 2 and have only been successful at making a wonky hat and a wonky buzz lightyear shirt. ;) Thanks for the giveaway. Happy Holidays!!
Meredith says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 3.5 on the sewing scale, but honestly… the thing that trips me up the most is threading the thing! Automatic threading sounds awesome!
Kate W. says
SEW ME!!
I need a sewing machine! Mine is 60 years old and a hand me down from my grandmother!
Anna says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 5. I like it, i have the creativity for it, but sometimes things just take too long…my grandmother on the other hand is a 10! i wish it was genetic!
Karen Cooper @ Dogs Don't Eat Pizza says
SEW ME! I am a 2 – I can sew on a button sorta wonky-like, but not much else. But I would love to learn and have been thinking about whether I should get a sewing machine for some time now.
Rose says
SEW ME Please! Hmm, I’d say I’m a 4. I was taught to sew as a kid but I haven’t done it in years (because I don’t have a sewing machine!)
Kayleigh says
SEW ME! I’m about a 3 – dangerous enough to whip up a baby blanket or a maxi skirt if necessary, but anything beyond that and I’ll be squinting at YouTube videos and stabbing myself in the fingers trying to figure it out.
Sarah says
Sew Me!!! I’m about a 3. My previous sewing machine pretty much blew up one me during it’s maiden voyage. Not sure if that had to do with my skills or the fact that it was made in 1965 ;)
Melissa says
SEW ME!! My grandma sewed everything, her own clothing, housewares, gowns, you name it (10+). My Mom makes simple things and can fix a lot of things (5). My sewing skills however are very sad…I can sew a button back on (-1). As you can see, I need to win this giveaway and starting sewing something!
Erica says
SEW ME!
I would say I rate a 2. I had a sewing machine a few years back, and I was able to make a few cute items for my daughters. Unfortunately, we had a flood a few summers back, and my sewing machine was heavily damaged.
Cathy Williams says
SEW ME! I’m in John’s category as far as sewing — gotta be a 1 (or less if possible), but I really want to learn. Even better is that this machine doesn’t scare me! Yay for auto-threders! Love you guys!
Andrew says
Sew Me! I don’t think I’ve ever touched a sewing machine…is there a 0 out of 10? I hope to win this for my wife.
Rebecca says
SEW ME!
I think i’m a 3 on the sewing scale. However, my Mom is a 10 extraordinaire. Unfortunately, her sewing skills were not passed down to me but I can keep trying.
