***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME! I’m definitely a 1 and I’ve been thinking about getting the “Oh Brother” but this would be even better. I really want to learn to sew.
Hallie says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2. But, boy, wouldn’t this machine be a great one to get better on!
Anna says
SEW ME!
I am a 4ish? I had a brand new sewing machine last year. Then my dog knocked my mom’s sewing machine over and broke hers. I felt bad and gave her my new one, but now I am machineless so I need this one! :)
terra says
SEW ME! I’m a zero for sure, but I’d love to learn!
Farrell says
SEW ME!
I’m currently a 1, but my mom is working with so I have potential!
Kristin says
SEW ME!!
Definitely a 1 — sewing in a straight line with nothing crazy difficult is the best I can do. And sometimes my husband has to help with the needle threader. So sad.
Kelsey says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 3… after all, I did do sewing for 4H when I was 10 :)
Stephanie Ann says
sew me sew me sew me! I have such a junky machine (like $50 junky machine) and would soooo love to have a decent one to sew on!
kerry says
SEW ME! I am a 2, i know what a bobbin is but can not thread one
VictoriaN says
SEW ME! I used to be able to operate a sewing machine, but it has been decades since I tried so I would say I am a 1. I would be happy to win this sewing machine an rediscover my talents.
Judy says
SEW ME!
I think I’m somewhere between 2 and 3. I’m working with mum’s old sewing machine. Singer One looks like a dream!!!
Megan says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1 (maybe a 0), but this sounds like the perfect motivation to learn a skill I’ve been putting off for a long time!
Emily says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1. I took several years of Home Ec and at one point was probably a 5 or so but if you don’t use the skills…let’s just say that 20 years later I’m definitely a 1 again!!!
Margaret says
SEW ME! Oh, I am awful at sewing.. a 2, probably. I don’t do well with sewing machines… so a self-threading one sounds fabulous! I hope I win!
Kate says
SEW ME silly. I am most certainly a 1. Or a -4 if that is allowed. The closest thing I’ve come to sewing success is cross stitching. Here’s to starting from scratch! :)
Brianne says
Sew Me!
I’d say I’m a 3…. I don’t own a sewing machine but I made some pretty gorg. custom curtains if I might say so myself. :)
Nicole says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1 but I have always wanted to try! I see so many DIY tutorials that involve a little sewing and I always wondered if I had a sewing machine could I figure it out. Crossing my fingers this will be a way to get started!!
Courtney says
Sew me! I’m probably around a 4.
Jessica says
“SEW ME!” about a 4- but I have trouble following directions.
amy t says
SEW ME!
I have my moments nearing a 3 and others nearing a 5. I guess you could say it depends if I put on my sewing pants that day. (Just to be clear I don’t physically have a pair of “sewing pants”.)
Katy says
SEW ME! I rank myself about a 2, because I successfully made a couple of pillows when I was in 8th grade. But a wonky bag? Not so sure.
Chelsie says
Sew Me!!!
Fourteen months ago, I would have classified myself as a hopeless cause when it comes to sewing… and then I had a baby. :-) I’ve been sewing so much since then, my sewing machine has died on me!!! This would be a PERFECT upgrade!
Stephanie Ann says
I am probably a 2-3. I can sew a straightish line, and make simple things but anything requiring too much of a pattern or too much thought, or extra cutting or piecing is probably above my skill level.
Erin says
SEW ME!
Ah, guess a 2? I took a sewing class when I was 8. Learned how to make a stuffed dragon that looked more like a turtle. (I blame my teacher) And I do know how to thread a needle (the regular kind, put it on a machine and I run for the door.)
megan says
Sew Me!
I’m a 7 skill wise, but don’t take enough time to work out more projects! Maybe a new machine would help? ;)
NancyH71 says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 3. I can do a little bit but would like to learn more.
Chrisinte P. says
SEW ME!
Probably a 2. I have sewed before, but I wouldn’t call a success.
Janet says
Sew me!
I suck at sewing, but would like to learn! :)
A. Hansen says
“SEW ME!”
I would say I’m about a 6. I love to do it though and every project I see improvement.
Natalia says
SEW ME!!
I’d say I’m a 1… being very optimistic. My mom has got a very old (ancient, I’d say, as it belonged to my grandma; and it’s a singer, too) sewing machine which has just broken down. She has to pay a lot to have it fixed, so this would be an amazing surprise for her… and maybe I could turn from 1 to 2 as regards my sewing skills… :-)
Ann says
Here is my SEW ME entry. I consider myself an 8 and would make great use of a that splendid machine.
Tripp says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 1, but my wife is a 4 and would love to not use our 1980s machine anymore!
Priscilla says
SEW ME!
I am probably a 5ish.
Susan M. says
SEW ME!
I’d say a 2… But I bet I could elevate that to at least a 5 with a cool machine like this to practice on! :)
Fiona says
Sew me, I’m a 1 or 2, but this year for Christmas I wanted to push myself and not buy the generic gifts so I bought all my nephews funky sheets and I want to attach ribbon to them and make these great packs I found on armommy blog for a DIY build a fort tutorial. Currently I have to borrow someone elses sewing machine and I’m so excited this is a worldwide prize as I’m in New Zealand so I have a chance to participate! Yah!
Daniela says
SEW ME!!!!
I’m like 7 or 8…I learned from my mom, who sew beautiful. I can do clothes, like jackets or dress, but I still have to perfect my technique!
Jayme Hennel says
SEW ME! I’d rank myself as 2.5, but would love to learn so I can hem my curtains. Or heck, even make my own curtains from scratch.
Kristen Smith says
SEW ME!
I am probably about a 2. My mother is a seamstress and awesome at sewing, but I have not had an interest until recently. I have definitely attempted some sewing in my life (made a weird bag, added some panels to pants, a horrible hippie skirt…) Having a machine that would make it easier for learning would be AWESOME, and maybe this time I can learn to make some cool, crafty things!
Carolyn says
SEW ME!
I’d rank myself around a 2 or 3 in sewing but a 1 on the machine.
Erin J says
SEW ME!
A 2. I used to know, but after 15 years or so, have lost the ability.
Danielle Bower says
SEW ME! I am a solid 6 or 7…with the help of my mom. We come by it honestly though. My grandmother is a 10, and made all the wedding dresses for her family.
Kim W Rily says
SEW ME!
I think I’m around a 5-6. I could be better with practice, but the projects take me so long. I’ve made skirts, am slowly, slowly working on the Christmas stocking for my son. I think it would be easier if I weren’t using my husband’s grandmother’s 100 year old sewing machine, though. (Which is why winning this would ROCK.)
Lesley says
Sew me!
I rate a 1 – my mom is def. a 10 and I think she is getting tired of me asking her to make me new pillows every couple of months :)
Alyssa says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m about a 6. I learned when I was young and then picked it back up a couple years ago. Thanks to the internet, it’s pretty easy to learn!
Amy says
SEW ME!
I am a 1 with a mother who is a 10. Hoping Nana can help my kids become 10s. This machine could certainly help!!!
Carol says
Sew Me!
I’d do with accomplished – I made my wedding dress on a 1949 Singer, which was a feat, as it was 1990 and that sucker had a lot of miles on it by that point and was a tad fussy.
Meg says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2, but I have aspirations . . .
Susan says
SEW ME!! When it comes to hand-sewing, I’m probably a 7, but with machines, I’m a 2. “Easiest machine to use” sounds good to me!
t says
Sew me!
I’m about a 5 – learned to see from my Grandmother and classes in 4-H.
Annelies says
SEW ME! I’m a one, or actually I don’t know, but I hope to get to a 10 with this giveaway! Yeej for international give aways!
