***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
I feel blustery even saying it, but I think I’m near the 10 range. I was a fashion major in college and spent the last 7 years as a professional seamstress in handbag and accessories design. I left that job last year and now am sewing just for me – and my machine just kicked the bucket! I’m craving some sewing time… Nerd alert!
Kim says
I am a 2.5 the only thing that I have sewn are items with people helping me many years ago.
Jared says
SEW ME! I would love to win this for my sweet wifey!
Rebecca says
“SEW ME!”
I am more like three. I made a Halloween costume for my son, and it came out pretty well.
Tiffany says
SEW ME!
I’m a 0, but really want to learn!
Adrienne says
Sew me!
I think I’m about a 3. I made pillow covers out of cloth napkins. They turned out okay as long as you don’t look too closely at the seems. My husband, on the other hand, is a sewing genius! He has made 4 Halloween costumes for my sons (Luke, Yoda, a monkey and Yoshi).
Nicole says
sew me! I sew need this! I would say I am a 4 or 5, but I always sew with my sis and mom, and they are higher ranked than I (which is great for zippers, sleeves and button holes). lol
Alisa says
sew me please!
2… just got back into sewing recently… but i can’t sew straight!
Sandra says
SEW ME!
I was an 8 as a teen – had to sew all my own clothes. Now I’m reduced to a 5. I don’t think I have the same patience that I had as a teen, or the same desperation. What I sewed had to be wearable!!

SEW ME!
So I’m about a 2.5 on the sewing scale and would love to get better…but my (crappy) sewing machine literally just died today. So I feel like this contest is fate… ;) Here’s hoping!
Hunter says
Sew me!
Maybe a 4-5! Love sewing and trying to figure out how to make new things by deconstructing existing garments!
Megan G says
SEW ME!!
I’m a 1-2 but I’d love to be an 8-9…my middle school home ec class didn’t help and growing up all I could do was sew my ballet ribbons and elastics with white waxed dental floss….now my hubby has to attempt any lost buttons. I need to perfect my skillz!
Kate says
SEW ME!!!
I’m probably a 3…I lost my Singer to Sandy and would love to replace it and practice to become a 10!
Susie says
SEW ME! Based on my recollection of junior high home ec (circa 1988) and the adorable pencil warmers (aka tubes) and pot holders we made, I’m going to say a 3.
Susan says
Sew Me!
I’d say I am a solid 5 going towards 7 depending on the project. I have a 1976 Singer machine that I use all the time, but was just thinking I could probably use an upgrade. Much as I love my current workhorse, it’s limited in what it can do. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Marii says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 4-5. Trying to sew my first set of roman blinds and I’m half way successfully through!
Amy M. says
SEW ME!
I would place my sewing ability at a solid 5. With a quick internet search, or help from a good instructional book, I can shorten sleeves or pants. I can certainly make a bag, curtains, and things I find irresistibly cute for my even cuter nephews. Awesome giveaway! I LOVE your blog, thank you for inspiring me! Merry Christmas.
Elizabeth says
SEW ME!
I think I’m in the minority at a 10. I’ve been sewing ever since I can remember and went to school for fashion design.
Leanne says
SEW ME!!!
I’m about an 8 on the sewing scale, I’d say. I’ve been sewing since I was a teenager (no, I’m not going to tell you how long that is) and I really enjoy it, but the last few years I’ve had to put sewing on the back burner because my trusty old Kenmore sewing machine from the sixties (no, I’m not that old, I bought it second hand) has developed a hitch in its getalong. But oh, the things I could do with a shiny new machine…
Nancy S says
SEW ME!
Please :)
I’d only rate myself a 4 – it’s been years since I’ve done any serious sewing, but this would help my pillow addiction :)
Katie says
SEW ME! Can I be a negative number? One seems too high.
Jessica says
SEW ME! I’m a dismal one…
Hannah says
Love it. Want it! Yes please!
I am probably a 2 or 3 but on my way to a 4 – I just spent my weekend successfully sewing four pairs of boys pajama pants! Now if only i could figure out the tops.
Jen M says
A definite 1!… But looking to improve drastically in the near future!
Leah says
Sew me! I’ve done a little crazy quilting over a decade ago but that’s it. I would love to be able to do some minor clothing repairs, make curtains, tableclothes, some uphosltery, etc but nothing crazy. That little guy would be perfect for me.
MichelleO says
SEW ME!I am below a zero (Less Than Zero…great movie) that is why I need this machine!
Amy S says
SEW ME!
Sadly, on a scale of 1-5, I’m a zero. But I want to learn!
Diandra says
Sew me!
I’m probably a 5. I have basic skills, I’ve made a few things before. I’ve made some pillows and bags, I made a pretty neat messenger style bag with no pattern, and the only oopsie was the strap was sewn upside down, but it still looks good! It was my first time doing a lining or a strap like that. I’m working on my first quilt right now, too!
Sarah says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2 at best, but have been wanting to get a sewing machine to improve my skills, so this would be perfect!
Annie says
SEW ME!! If Sherry is a 3 then I’m more like a 2! She’s pretty handy with her Oh Brother!
melissa says
SEW ME!
I am a 1, but I have piles of fabric begging me to become a 10!
Ashley says
Sew me. I’m probably about a 1 now. My Grandma taught me to sew when I was younger…and I don’t have a machine now so I’ve lost the touch!
Gabrielle says
SEW ME!
While I can sew things from scratch I cannot sew things blindfolded so I’d give myself an 8 on the sewing skills continuum.
Fun question.
Jayme says
Sew me!
I’m a 0, but I desperately want to learn! My mom, a master quilter, probably ranks around 11, and I think she’s always been disappointed that I never took to sewing. Now that I can see more creative/practical applications for the skill, I’m ready to give it a try!
Kim M. says
SEW ME! I’m with Sherry at a 3–I’ve made wonky pillows and hemmed some curtains, but more than that is a struggle.
Vicky says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a solid 2. I can make a pillow, but not much more than that, thus why I do not yet own a sewing machine of my own!
Jess says
Sew Me!
I am maybe a 2 but that 2 is going to look pretty special. I have a hard time doing things in a straight line, thats why my husband does all our cutting in when we paint!
Kelly says
“SEW ME!”
I am a 1 but I have always wanted to learn. I did hand sew two birds for our wedding cake topper. I was sew (pun intended) proud of myself!
Kristen says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 1, but I have lofty aspirations of becoming a 3 :)
Cherie says
Sew me!
I’m about a 3, too.
Jennifer W says
SEW ME!
I am a beginner, for sure. I have to reread the directions every time I want thread the bobbin or needle. I CAN sew, but not well…like I can fix something in a pinch, but it won’t have straight lines. lol. This machine would be awesome to have. Maybe I’d sew more, if I wasn’t so intimidated byt threading the needle.
Kimberly says
SEW ME! I’m about an 8. I can make my own patterns or follow patterns, but I do need my eyes!
Cat says
Sew Me! I could also make a wonky bag or hem some pants so I’d say 2/3 :)
Linda says
SEW ME!!
I don’t have a sewing machine- so I would say 0… BUT I want to learn!
lauren says
SEW ME! probably a 4…
Brenda says
SEW ME! I’m about a 5. I can sew, but I wouldn’t want to wear anything I sewed.
Lidija says
SEW ME!!!
i am also 1, because my grandma is a tailor :)
Elaine says
SEW ME!
I would say I am a 1! I would love to learn though!
Karen says
Sew me!
I am a proud 3.5.
Katie Menschner says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1 on a machine because I’ve never used one, but I do pretty well with a needle and thread and even better with no-sew hem tape!
