***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!!!
I’m a total 1. I’ve never touched a sewing machine let alone actually made something with one. But I realllly want to learn and even have a few fam memebers who will teach me if I had the time (and duuh…. the equipment!!! ) :D
Sarah says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 4 or 5 – it will take me forever because I will have to redo it about 10 times, but I can usually get some relatively complicated things right eventually!
Hunter says
Sew Me! Hmmmm, I’m going to say a 4. I’m more or less competent with my sewing, but I know there’s a whole bunch of potential I’m really not living up to. Happy to improve though!
Dalenna says
SEW ME – 2. I can sew on buttons, fix holes and the like but want to be better and learn more.
Rachel says
SEW ME!! On scale from 1 – 10, I’m in the negative. But would love to learn how to start making things myself!! :)
Lacey says
SEW ME!!
I’m about a 4. I can sew straight lines which is all I need to make a few pillows!
Elyse says
SEW ME! I consider myself a 3… I’d love to get better though. I get really inspired by Project Runway, lol!

This is such perfect timing because I’m DYING for a good sewing machine. I hand sewed my son a gift for Christmas and it took FOR-EVER so I’d love to give this Singer a whirl! I’d say I’m a about a 2-3 right now, here’s hoping that number will improve! :)

SEW ME!
I am a 0.
Auntie Jaime says
SEW ME!! I would say I’m at a 3. I used to sew some amazing creations in my Home Ec class in high school, however, that was quite awhile ago, and while I hoping it’s like riding a bike, I’m sure I have some practicing to do =)

SEW ME!!!!
Please!!! I am a 0-1… The only things I have sewen are cocktail napkins and, about 35 years ago, a poncho made out of 7-Up printed fabric to earn my sewing badge for girl scouts. I have been asking for a machine for 3-4 years from my hubby, and he keeps “forgetting”..;) I would be thrilled!!!

SEW ME!!!
I will go with a 5. I can make it, but it won’t be pretty.

I can sew a wonky bag. I’m relearning how to sew right now. It had been years.
Melissa says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m probably a four and would love to be a ten. I sewed a lot last year with my beginner sewing machine… and loved it. I would like to keep working on it with an improved sewing machine.
Janet Payne says
Sew me! I have been sewing for almost 45 years…my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother were all seamstresses and now my two daughters (19 and 21) think nothing of whipping up whatever they want on the sewing machine. A new sewing machine would be fabulous at our house of three people who like to sew and share one machine.
My mom–10
Me–9
21 year old daughter — 5
19 year old daughter — 5
Christy says
SEW ME! I’m a 6. I definitely sew wonky when I’m being impatient though!

SEW ME!!
I would say Im about a 6 or 7. I have sewn for as long as I can remember and practically lived in the home ec classroom in high school. My machine recently broke and I have been saving for a new (upgraded) one! This would be perfect!

Sara says
SEW ME! I’m about a 5.

I’m afraid I’m probably a 2 – name labels, darning socks and ‘quirky’ (read ‘unwearable’) customisations of garments ruined by my similar levels of laundry skills…!
Stephanie says
SEW ME!!
I would say I am a 4. The fact that this has an automatic threader would make me a 6 though, that is the hardest part for me!
Kristy says
SEW ME!!!
I would give myself a 4. I have made pillow, simple dresses for our girls, a duvet. The simple stuff.

I’m probably at a 3. My skills max out at sewing in a straight line. But I’m hoping to get more advanced in the coming year with some fun projects.
Teresa says
Sew Me! I’d say I’m a 6. I can follow a pattern and sew most of my own clothes, other than “unmentionables” and nightgowns.
Laura says
SEW ME!
I’m around a 5 or 6. Better than some, but not great. I just made myself a laptop case, and everyone is getting zippered makeup pouches for Christmas, but I make a lot of mistakes and swear a lot.
mollie d says
sew me! I’m like a 4, I remember a lot from home ec, but did a sewing project with my mother-in-law and she scolded me the whole time for not taking my time!
