***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME…I’d rate myself as a 1! But I do feel that once I got the hang of it I’d be sewing everything!
Courtney says
I would be a zero….I have taken things to a seamstress to have the buttons sewn back on, but I would love to learn!!
Bonnie says
SEW ME! I am a 1 and that’s only because a minus 1 is not an option!! LOL
Shannon says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 5 on the scale. Enough to get easy jobs, simple patterns, and do piping, but I haven’t mastered button holes or lining yet!!

SEW ME!
I love to sew, though I am not sure where to rank myself. I can on occasion make a pattern that works, and I’ve got some mad bunny sewing skills.
I sew on the sewing machine that my dad bought for my mom on the day I was born. My mom’s birthday is just 9 days after mine, so the sewing machine was for her birthday not for cranking out baby #3. It is a solid old Pfaff, that really has no bells, nor whistles. And sometimes a girl would like some bells and whistles.

Sew Me!
I am definitely a 1! But I do know how to sew on a button. I would love to learn how to use a sewing machine so I can make all of the awesome things that I have pinned on Pinterest.
Emily McC says
Sew me! I’d give myself a 2.5 for being able to sew a button and a weak seam :)
Meghan says
SEW ME!! I’m probably a 3 as well. I can sew pillow cases, simple skirts and dresses, bags, etc…but don’t look too closely at the inside seams! ;)
Liz says
SEW ME!
I think I’m about a 5 on the sewing scale. I sewed all my own curtains for our house! :)
Kate says
I can sew on a button!
Laura says
Sew me!
I would rank myself at 2.5: I hope I could make a wonky bag, but I’m not entirely confident.
Jillian says
Sew me!
I’d probably rate around a 5 or 6. I’m average or maybe a teensy bit better than average, but I’m definitely no wiz kid.
Erica says
SEW ME!!! I’m a rookie at sewing, but I’m hoping to learn quickly so that I can make crib bedding for our baby who will be arriving in May!
Belen says
SEW ME!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life but I’ve always wanted one. I’ve always wanted to make myself a pair or loose linen pants for the summer. Maybe this will be my chance!
Ivna says
SEW ME!
my grandmother teached me to sew… it’s been 30 years from then…
Brenda says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a 2 on the scale. My mom is a 10, but I always had a bit of a fear of sewing my thumb. I can manage decent hand-sewing, but that takes forever and isn’t as neat.
richard says
SEW ME!!
I am probably a two…I can do a seam well, but putting the pieces together well is so time consuming. I think a lesson or two is in order!
Coran says
Sew Me! A beginner
Christina says
SEW ME! I would rate myself a 2. I would like to believe that I could sew myself out of a bag – it will be an ugly bag but a bag nonetheless. I love that this is the giveaway, because I just asked my husband for a sewing machine for Christmas! Perfect timing!
Melissa Sharp says
Sew me!
I think I’m maybe a 2 on your scale. I can do some very basic stitching, but I’m not comfortable with it or confident in my abilities at all. I am hopeful to be a sewing maestro some day though. ;-)
Camilla Matheson says
Sew me! Well I might if I won this! Not admitting how long its been since I worked a sewing machine but my eldest daughter is nearly 19 and I think I sewed a quilt for her while pregnant! I imagine myself to be “Martha”-esque in my sewing abilities- nothing like a good bit of self delusion!!! I am maybe a 2-3 on the sewing ability skill!
Very excited to be able to enter from England!! Not often we get to enter(boohoo- but understand why!).
Matt @ D is for Dino says
SEW ME!
I am most definitely a 2 on that scale. I could probably sew a straight line. Give me an angle and I’m all screwed up.
Amy says
I’d say 3, wonky bag all the way!
JillM says
SEW ME!
I rank about a 2. While I do have my own sewing machine, I am too intimidated to use it most times. I would love to be more skilled in that department.
Jess says
SEW ME! I was crazy about sewing when I was a little girl…adjusted for age, I’d even say I was a 9. But I am sad to report that it’s not quite like riding a bike…these days, I’d be stretching it to call myself a 4 or 5.
Carrie says
Sew me!
My boyfriend had to thread my machine for me in 8th grade Home Ec. But I’d love the opportunity to try again!
Sara B says
SEW ME!…
I’m probably a 7. I have a machine, but it’s terrible and I get frustrated every time I use it. I’ve been able to sew bags, a quilt, etc., but I could definately use a better machine!
Thank you for the contest!
Emily says
SEW ME! I received my first sewing machine last year from Mom and fell IN LOVE. Now, I actually sale little clutches with my small business called “Southern Sewendidpity” I guess I would rank myself between a 5 and 6! I’m always learning and improving!
PS – My sewing machine is a Sew Simple and it’s AWESOME – but this one look more fancy. Would LOVE to add this to my sewing world!!!
jessie says
Sew Me not to know how to sew but still want a dewing machine… LOL!
jessie says
oops meant to say SEWING machine not DEWING!
Susan says
sew me!! I am a 7. I can do most home decor but not clothes anyone would want to wear.
Anne D. says
SEW ME! I’d consider myself a 7 thanks to my mother who taught me to sew when I was 10 or so. I enjoy it, just don’t get a lot of time to do it.
Carlyn Maksymuk says
Sew me! I am probably a 2 on the sewing skills scale – on a good day!
Caitlin says
SEW ME! I’m a semi-beginner. I’ve taken a few classes and am pretty decent at sewing in straight lines, but that’s about it. I mostly lack confidence to try anything more complicated. Awesome machine!
Amanda says
Sew me! I’m a 4 or so, I guess. I took sewing lessons as a kid for years but haven’t done much since. I still need help cutting out patterns sometimes but know the basics, and would love to have an easy to use machine to start making stuff for my son. :)
Rebecca says
SEW ME!!! I’m about a six. I can sew and sometimes I can follow a pattern. I did learn all my swear words when I was a kid when my mom made our Halloween costumes…
Dolores reartes says
SEW ME!!!!! I’m a proud 8!!!! But i really “need” this machineeeeee! Thanks!!!
Rachel says
SEW ME!
Maybe a 5? I sewed a tshirt quilt before I left for college, and used to make clothes for my dolls when I was little using a tiny pink sewing machine. But have I touched a sewing machine in the last 12 years? Nope!
Jenny says
Sew me!
I think I’m a 7 or 8. I can sew pretty well, but I have a sewing machine that’s older than me and not much fun to use. I would love this one!
And YAY for international shipping!
Tamara says
SEW ME!
i took a sewing class way back in high school, but since i have not owned a machine of my own i hand. stich. everything. like, big things. i have no idea why it has taken me so long to invest in a machine… decision paralysis?? haha.
Jessica says
John and Sherry! Sew me!
I’m a second year, second grade teacher. So sew me!!! I’m trying to learn how to sew things to make life as a teacher a little more cost efficient, but constantly borrowing a machine (like I did for my first few projects) is such a hassle! My first project is probably at about a 6, but I’m not convinced that any other projects would be unless I get some good practice!
Help a sister out!
Jess
Emily A says
SEW ME!
I would love to sew but I’m currently trying to learn on my grandmother’s 1975 Singer that is on it’s last leg! I would love a new sewing machine!
Mallory @ R. Simple Life says
SEW ME!
I’d rank myself a solid 4. Though… with this machine, I might be able to make it to a 6 or 7… just saying ;)
April says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 1 — I can sew on a button!
Shaina says
Sew Me! I’m definitely only ranking probably a 2 but would love the chance to learn and do more with this!

SEW ME!! Oh my goodness! I’m more like a ‘0’! But I’d like to be a sewing ‘hero’ one day!!
Angela L says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 2…I can sew basics by hand if I have to, and back in high school Home Ec I sewed a teddy bear with moveable appendages and a pair of boxer shorts but haven’t touched a machine since then (cough, cough, 15 years ago, cough).
Megan says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 3 or 4, would love to brush up my skills!
Trissi V. says
SEW ME! I am a 2…I can sew in a straight line and have made several basic pillows out of tea towels, but that’s about it.
Stephanie says
Sew me!
I would rate myself a 7. I was a Home Ec major for a year in college so I still have some sewing skills up my sleeve.
Kim says
SEW ME!!
i can’t sew to save my own life, but want to try!!
